It was the only restaurant open during #2016blizzard. Food was good service was a little slow. Crab cake was very tasty too much filler for me. Maryland Crab soup needed more crab.

$ 50 for soup, salad, and a glass of wine. 6 women went out to dinner and 2 had the cream of crap soup. 2 had the seafood bisque. I think they were the same exact soups. Service was terrible even though it was mostly empty. Lots of servers standing around but not one could come by the table to offer a drink refill. Thank God, may have had to mortgage the house for it. Won’t be going back there again.

Recently, Aaron, the marketing manager at Luna Del Sea reached out to me via Twitter to invite me to the restaurant for dinner. Luna Del Sea is located in Downtown Baltimore, near the convention center. There aren’t many restaurants over there on Pratt Street that aren’t chains, so I was excited to try something locally owned. Luna Del Sea has an old world Italian feel, similar to Supano’s, minus the Frank Sinatra décor. The owner, Tony, suggested that I start with a French Onion Soup. This was great, there was plenty of melty cheese on top of the broth and the soup wasn’t overpoweringly onion-y. Hands down, I would order this again. I also ordered the Lamb Shank. This was not on the menu but I’m hoping they add it as a permanent fixture soon. The lamb was fall off the bone tender and in a bed of ratatouille. It was delicious. If you’re at Luna Del Sea, ask if this is being offered as a special. It was great. Last, Frank insisted that I order dessert. I went with the Salted Caramel Cheesecake. I’m not a huge cheesecake person, but this one was light and fluffy. I wish it had a little more caramel drizzle though to really satisfy my sweet tooth. If you’re looking for something locally owned downtown, Luna Del Sea is a great option amid the sea of chain restaurants.

The location is convenient(just across the Convention Center) but the interior is very dated. Mediocre at best. The server wasn’t all that great. The food left something to be desired. The entries are very expensive and I will not go back a second time

Not the best way to start our Baltimore trip. We do not eat out much so when we do, we prefer local restaurants instead of chains and this is what lead us here. This place was suggested by a local so we decided to try it despite the reviews(I completely regret it). When we walked in, we were greeted by a very nice man who seated us. The food was quite expensive for what it was which was not great. I don’t mind spending money on good food but this was far from it. My husband’s crab cake sandwich was full of filler and the taste was not much to be excited about. The bun was stale and crumbly. The sandwiches do not come with a side, you must order Ala carte. I ordered what I thought was blackened scallops but it looked more like sautéed scallops. I also thought it was a sandwich, afterall, it was $ 17, but it was literally just 5 scallops. It was kinda salty. For the prices, I expected better quality. When we left, we stopped at Chipotle to get a burrito bowl to share at the hotel because I was still hungry.

Ate there for dinner, had the crab cakes. They were delicious, just the right amount of spice and full of chunky back fin lump crab. Was so good came back for lunch and had the crab cake sandwich for lunch. The German chocolate cake was not your ordinary cake, it was made with dark chocolate. Yummy goodness. Our waitress Ariel was spot on. Ricardo was so kind and told us about the history of the restaurant. Cannot wait until I’m back in Baltimore to go back.

Was close by the convention center so checked it out despite the mediocre reviews, I picked the chicken Alfredo because I saw some good reviews, chicken was way overcooked, service was very lackadaisical. Definitely not worth the price point.

The food was overpriced and it just seems like they quickly threw the meal together. It looked Better than it tasted and i have no desire to go back. Also the drinks were expensive. I went back to my hotel across the street and drank there instead. I was not impressed.

A co-worker and I decided to give this place a try. She wanted to try some lobster. I ordered the Shrimp Marinara(Linguini noodles topped with our marinara sauce with fresh crushed tomatoes, basil, green peppers, oregano, onions, garlic, black pepper and white wine and fresh jumbo sauteed shrimp $ 28.) With all these ingredients one would think this dish would be flavorful. It was very bland. My co-worker had the Luna Surf and Turf. (Angus certified New York strip, filet Mignon or ribeye steak served with our whole Maine lobster, broiled lobster tail, jumbo lump crab cake, jumbo lump crab imperial, shrimp or scallops. $ 83.00). She said that it was well cooked but was also bland. I’ve had better at a much cheaper price.

My lobster was absolutely awesome!!! Heather was great and very knowledgeable. The margarita had no alcohol. That was the only problem.

Simply stated: the crab cakes are absolutely phenomenal. Sweet, chunk crab meat with very little filler — about the size of a softball, truth be told. Cooked beautifully and without unwarranted fanfare. This beauty alone warranted its own 5 star rating. But… The shrimp cocktail is very good as well; sweet, mildly flavored shrimp caught that same day. You really can taste the difference. The presentation on night one was stellar — very beautiful, actually. The second night? Very utilitarian. Maybe they thought I wouldn’t notice… but I did. Sorry to say that the service is a bit sketch. Granted, I was here two nights in a row in June, and when the Orioles had a long home stand. The folks working here are nice as all heck — they really are. But… please write things down when a customer orders something. Don’t make someone wait 20 minutes only to have the staff come back and say, «Are you ready for me to put your order in?» Not cool in the least. Beautiful environs to dine al fresco. Bank on extra time if you have some place to go after dinner because of the service being hit or miss. Great conversation potential — loved meeting new people from around the country the nights I was there — conversations with folks from Iowa and New York and home town folks was memorable and sincere(in the form of a funny, articulate, and purely delightful City of Baltimore Police Officer, especially). Gotta get the service fixed, guys. The potential is really high for you all to make some really good waves if you get the cooking glitches fixed, too. Will try you all again just one more time. And only one more time.

We had a business dinner at Luna Del Sea on Wed May 20, 2015 for five people. It’s conveniently located next to the Baltimore convention center. I do NOT recommend this restaurant, nor will I return. The restaurant facility was run down, the bathroom(women) was dirty and smelled bad. Our waitress added an additional meal(entrée) on our bill! I had salmon oscar which had imperial crab atop salmon. The crab was good but the salmon was not. Several guests had crab cakes. I’m told they were very salty and dry.

Worst restaurant experience … Ever!!! Stopped in before a show at the Hippodrome. Should have left after the earl warning signs — 10 minutes before a waiter showed up and two tables next to us sent back parts of their dinner. We ordered mussels and a burger. The waiter dropped off the mussels but do not bring an extra plate, bread or utensils. Table next to us complained that their salad took an hour to come out. We asked about our burger and was told it would be right out — ten minutes later out came the burger(50 minutes after ordering) — not only was it raw but the Kraft American single on to wasn’t even melted. Sent it back and asked for check — they credited the burger but charged us for the side potato which was under cooked.

My shuttle driver from the airport recommended this restaurant. He said the crab cakes are the best in town. So I came here with some colleagues tonight. We started off with the crabcakes as an appetizer and he was definitely not wrong. They are literally the best crab cakes I’ve ever had. They have a nice crispy texture on the outside amazing flavor on the inside and leave you wanting more. I ordered their seafood fettuccine Alfredo for my entrée. It was okay but it needed a lot of salt. My employer ordered the tuna and felt that it was overcooked. The service was really slow but the ambience was nice. All in all, a great place if you enjoy crabcakes.

For the price of the food, you would expect much better. I had the seafood trio broiled for $ 38. This is what you get– large crab cake which was not too bad, but what you’d expect in Baltimore. I comes with 3 scallops just slightly larger than bay scallops(the small type) and 3 medium shrimp. I would have expected much more. The drinks also seemed a bit watered down. I dined here with a group during martial law. The owner was very nice along with the staff. Service was good. They should just try upping the cuisine a bit. For those prices, I’d like to see a bit more effort made. Same meal at Red Lobster is $ 19.99

I will say this. I was in Baltimore for a conference near the harbor and I do not think that many restaurants right by the hotel were equipped to deal with the mass of people. My friend and I popped in to this restaurant to get a quick lunch. There was one waitress and one bartender and shortly after we arrived more people showed up and the place was packed, which means the service was extremely slow. The food was not in my opinion worth the price. I got the maryland crab soup. By the time it got to me it was lukewarm and fairly tasty. Cute little place and maybe some of the other dishes are better but I would probably try some other place next time.

Looking for food when you’re extremely hungry can sometimes seem torturous, especially when you rely on Unilocal for um pretty much everything. However, on Friday night my phone had died so I had to rely solely on my own recollection of inner harbor. Initially my friends had stepped into Luna Del Sea thinking it was Pratt Street Ale House. After being told it wasn’t Pratt Street the waiter at the front kindly pointed us towards the direction, with no hostility. Get to Pratt Street to meet up with my friends and it was packed. No hesitation I suggested heading back to Luna… we were quickly greeted and seated. Our waiter Joey was the best! He went over and beyond to make our visit to Luna enjoyable. He let us try a few beers before selecting our eventual round(or two or three). Gave us plenty of time to select our food, and trust me we are a group of indecisive people. He checked in with us frequently but was not over bearing. Most of all he was just the sweetest person and I am so happy we came to Luna instead of the over hyped Pratt Street. The crab cake is delicious(but that was pretty much a given). The rest of us ordered burgers and they were good. They have some pretty cool beers although I cannot name any right now. Im surprised that Luna has such a sub-par rating on Unilocal,it is a little pricey but I don’t think the service is as horrible as most people are saying. Or maybe Joey was just too awesome ! Will be back and highly recommend!

9÷14÷14− We needed a place eat before the game and we landed at Luna. Despite the massive throngs of people on the streets heading to and from the game, Luna was actually very organized; very equipped to deal with the volume. There were lots of seats outside and a narrow bar inside with some more tables. It wasn’t exactly clear where to go to get a table, so we went inside… then we were directed outside. INITIALLY, our waiter treated us like we were dirty, no-nothing tourists coming to mess up his day and not tip him. He answered our questions reluctantly and vaguely«everything is good» and quickly attempted to escape us. However, it was transient. After he delivered our beers, he returned in a much better mood. He was open to giving beer recs based on my taste interests and even recommended the she-crab soup vs MD crab soup. The kitchen pumped our food out quickly; She-crab soup, bruschetta, shrimp salad sandwich, some generic salad. Everything was«fine»; not special, not overly memorable but also not bad. The beer suggested to me was one that I wasn’t too gung-ho on and when that was mentioned to our waiter, he wasn’t overly interested in replacing it with something else. Meh. With little time left before game, we were quick to pay our tab and get out of there. Final thoughts: Pricey for what it is but this place probably lives off the random wanderings of people just like my group and distance-limited tourists… they can probably charge whatever they want and get it despite it being nothing special. My suggestion is that if you want italian, you’d do better to go somewhere else.
