Worst school I’ve ever gone to. Not only is the caliber of education extremely low, but they promote a closed-minded, racist way of life. … Teachers actually would rather discourage questions from students on a regular basis than admit that they didn’t know the answer to a question. Maalot is the reason I decided not to be all that religious anymore – their fake brand of judaism tainted what judaism is supposed to actually be. The principal there, Mrs. Rosenbaum, is by far one of the most ridiculous human beings I have ever met, and believe me, that’s saying something. She is rude, self-centered, condescending, rather unintelligent, and just plain old irrational. She would rather spy on her students and punish them in a grand, public fashion for small infractions(watching a disney movie in the dorm, wearing a denim skirt on the weekend…) that have nothing to do with actual halacha(jewish law) and yet she feels it’s completely ok to tell a student that she won’t punish them for one of these imagined«infractions» if that student turns in another student who had been committing the same«crime». Pretty sure that’s considered to be a lot worse of an infraction than watching a disney movie would be… I suffered through two whole years at this place, and the only thing I learned is that I would never want to emulate 90% of the«mentors» provided by Maalot. They were unethical, and I know for a fact that they helped to cover up abuse that took place.(I know the girl it happened to, and helped her through it at the time after she confided in me)
