This place is the BEST for sausages! So amazingly juicy, fatty and flavorful. Dunno what to choose? Get the celery salt links! Get a few links for your next BBQ! Just remember that they’re closed after 1pm.

Confession: I haven’t eaten any of their sausages. Other confession: This is the only meat I’ve had in the fridge at my apartment. It was weird. Evidently, though, oh-so worth it. I bought, at Christmas, smoked kielbasa for my brother in law and some of the bratwurst for my father. I received a photo of the kielbasa being sampled during football. My dad finally got back to me — he shared the bratwurst with my grandfather. It went over well with a 90 year old Bavarian gentleman, so I’m calling that good. I didn’t run into a crazy line dropping in to pick up the sausages. I wanted to go and see the shop for myself, and I was helped quickly, with a smile. I was surprised at the economy of the whole thing. For a lot of well made tubular meat, it’s not so much money. Christmas present tradition? Oh, yes. And while I don’t eat meat, I’ll admit it still smelled pretty darn good.

Hands down the best sausage I’ve ever tasted. Rarely is this place open when I stroll by but one Saturday fish wife and I were strolling through the neighborhood and they were open. Since Ostrowski’s sausages are on Baltimore Sun’s 100 things a Baltimore foodie must try we had to stop in and see what they had. It was late in the day and all that was left was the Polish sausage so we grabbed one. At nearly 2 feet for under $ 5 it was not only the best sausage I’ve ever had but pretty damn cheap ta boot. The shop itself was very small and hot. The guy working the counter, however, made our stay a fun one as he had a few jokes to share while we were there. I’m sure he’s been in the business quite some time and knows how to talk up a new customer. We were all smiles when we walked out. The next morning fish wife served up some of the sausage for breakfast and I nearly did cartwheels in the man cave. Holy tube steak this was a tasty meat product! I mean, yea, it’s just a sausage but wow! What a wonderful sausage. If you’re ever in the area and this place is open do yourself a favor. Definitely holler at it, Hon. This is the real deal.

Imagine during Christmas time, you see a line going around the corner of the block. It’s cold, its snowy and you see people lined up. You might first think its a homeless free dinner line, but the people are too well dressed for that. Filene’s Basement or Macy isnt around here having a XMas markdown sale. It’s way too early for a post XMas markdown sale. As you peer into the door, you start to realize that people are waiting in line to buy… RAWSAUSAGES. Balitmore is FILLED with traditions: Berger cookies, Miracle of Lights on 34th street house XMas decorations, Haussner’s Restaurant, now closed in 1999, Phillips, and Ostrowski’s for sausages. The sausages are very good, a solid 4 star sausage. They sever a variety of sausages, kielbasa, sage, hot, polish, etc Many local stores also carry their sausages like Safeway and Giant. But standing in line during Thanksgiving and Christmas is a Baltimoron tradition. If in the area its worth getting some in a supermarket or the store itself downtown Baltimore.
