Pier 5, an Ascend Hotel Collection Member

We loved this place. We came for my birthday weekend. The staff were super friendly and professional. They remembered our names.
On Saturday, they host the «Chocolate Event» and it was wonderful. We also had the National Aquarium package.
It was an amazing weekend and highly recommend you stay here. In the famous words of Arnold, «We’ll be back».

Ritz Carlton and Four Season level service! Best stay for New Years! Checkin with Donita was outstanding. Front desk provided coupons for free and reduced prices for places having celebrations within walking distance of the hotel. Complimentary champagne, noise blower, hat, happy hour with crepes and fantastic crab dip. What more could you want? Chris made the best omelets I have ever had at the fantastic buffet bar. Chris has a phenomenal personality that starts your day. Loved the lobby. Price was reasonable and you are right on the water. Ruth Chris is also in the building so I did not have to go outside. Love the tree in the lobby. Walking distance to great shopping, convenience stores. Loved this place. I will return.

Stayed there with my gf this past week. It is on the Inner Harbor, with the aquarium a 5 min walk. They are *very* dog friendly, with no restrictions on dog size, type, etc. — no pet deposit either, and, your dog can stay in the room by itself. Also, every day during the week they have a different «crabby hour» which they call happy hour. Tuesday is sushi, wine, and beer — all free.
The hotel was very clean — the room was very spacious and modern.
Only downside is that it’s $ 40/​day to valet park and the wifi wasn’t working very well (it was included in a mandatory hotel fee).

Dated, Dirty, and Disappointing… the only saving grace is that it’s located on the water. They need to do a soft goods (furniture, curtains, and carpet) renovation at the very least to bring it up to par with the other hotels in the area.

I’m hard pressed to understand why some give this hotel poor marks. I was here for two days for a staff meeting and everything was great. The meeting room for 24 was adequate and the food was terrific. My guest room in the second floor was nice. No complaints. The lobby area was welcoming and a group of us watched a presidential debate over a few bottles of wine. I will definitely stay here again. Location was the best. Next to the aquarium and three block walk to little Italy where we went for dinner.

This place continues to go down hill… stayed here for business on ¹¹⁄₁₇ and the experience was pretty bad. Rooms are very dated, dirty, and falling apart. Water stains, peeling wallpaper, NASTY bathroom! I wish I had taken some pictures to post. They even charged an additional 9.95/day for «Guest Services» which was not explained to me when I checked in. When I questioned the charge on checkout I was told «you initialed to accept this charge sir» when I challenged the woman she basically gave me the oh well response… can sum it up in a single word, DUMP!

We loved this place. I booked it the first time via Groupon but will absolutely book again with or without! I must say, however, that the $ 40.00 a day for valet parking threw me for a loop but I was informed that the parking lots are privately owned by the city. You’d think that a resort this big would have it’s own lot.
So ok, $ 40.00 parking aside, we checked in. I was under the impression that I’d purchased the package with breakfast and a bottle of wine included. Well, I didn’t. No problem said Brett at the desk. He appeared with a cold bottle of chardonnay and 2 tickets for a beautiful breakfast buffet that is served in the lobby every morning. Nice.
And about the lobby, lets not forget about «Crabby Hour». Every night is a different theme with the chef teaching how to make everything crab. So just so you understand, everything crab and matched cocktails, free and just part of the awesomeness that is Pier 5.
I would be remiss not to mention that adjoined to the hotel on either side is a Ruth’s Chris that has spoiled me for oysters and carpaccio forever more, and a McCormick and Schmik’s.
If you go, remember that you have to request a refrigerator for your room. Enjoy!

Just returned from my second stay at Pier V Hotel in the inner harbor in Baltimore. First time was a couple trip and I loved that I was allowed to bring my Lab and how nice they were to him. This second time was a work trip and I had convinced my boss and colleagues to stay here rather than at the Hyatt where our convention was.
Brett made it an extremely fun stay with all of his happy hour activities– wine and crêpe night. We missed whiskey Wednesday and paint night. The hotel staff was wonderful especially Brett., who made us laugh and joked with us making it memorable. Could not recommend higher.
Location is convenient and a more unique corner of the harbor, lovely balconies, convenient to little italy, Ruth Chris, McCormack and Schmidt, national aquarium, etc. this was a much nicer experience than we would have had in a bigger chain.

Great location but you’re stuck paying at least $ 24 for parking in an outdoor lot. Super loud AC unit in room. Light in bathroom didn’t work. It’s pet friendly, so that is cool…

I really like this hotel for it’s funky cool design and location. Second time I’ve stayed here. The rooms are spacious and well appointed for a very comfortable stay. The staff is very friendly and helpful as well. Pier 5 feels more like a boutique hotel, not like the big chain hotels. They have «Crabby Hour» M-​F featuring a chef who teaches you how to make fabulous crab dip. Then you get to enjoy it with drinks. I recommend requesting a harbor view room to enjoy the beauty of the Inner Harbor. Located just steps away from restaurants and everything the Inner Harbor offers, the location can’t be beat. Compared to the price of other waterfront, and not waterfront, hotels in the area, Pier 5 is priced significantly below similar hotels. They offer valet parking for $ 38 or you can park in the public lot next door for $ 22 a day, so parking is easy.
I’m looking forward to my next stay here.

Very noisy room bc the walls r so thin. The resort fee of $ 10 and a $ 22 self parking fee per day didnt help. even with a $ 22 parking fee, there is no guarantee one will find a parking spot since anyone can park in the lot if willing to pay. the hotel is located right behind the aquarium, so that is a good thing. This hotel allows pets so if one has pet allergy, might want to think twice before booking.

This is one of those places that was the coolest thing in the world when I discovered it but now it’s just meh. The primary reason is the décor. When I first stayed here it was 2000 and the décor looked incredibly hip and contemporary. 15 years later, it looks like it was furnished by Ikea. In 2000. The staff is nice enough but not really engaged so you just kinda feel like you’re on your own. And the cavernous lobby adds to that feeling. I’ll go back because the location is great and the prices are reasonable. But it no longer holds the allure it once had.

Look guys, you can’t generate goodwill and the likelihood of return visits when you stiff people $ 20 for valet parking. Your neighbor Ruths Chris steakhouse offers the very same service for $ 8 and the classy Cinghiale in nearby Harbor East offers it for $ 0. My point is this: you miss a great opportunity for future business when people are onsite to attend an event and exit with a bad taste in their mouths.

Stayed for a couple of nights for a wedding. Very nice hotel. Staff went out of their way to make us feel comfortable. Pet friendly, so we had our 75 pound puppies. Would definitely stay here again

I had my wedding here in February 2014. When I booked the venue, I lived half a world away in Hawaii, so let me tell you, I was NERVOUS about this whole thing. I saw that the Unilocal reviews weren’t that hot, but I decided to go with them because out of all the establishments I talked to in the venue selection process, Pier 5 had the most top notch customer service. They were the most straightforward about price and what to expect and I appreciated that so much.
My wedding planner from the hotel was Chris Sikora and he was just phenomenal throughout the whole years’ worth of planning. He stayed in close contact with me throughout the process and I wasn’t nervous about any of it. Pier 5 handles everything, from the food (which was so good my guests can’t stop talking about it a year later) to the cake, the liquor, and the decorations, they have it all.
It was effortless for my friends and family to book rooms, and they got a pretty steep discount for being a part of my wedding. Everyone really enjoyed their stay, and the extra perks (like the bridal room and the groom’s room) were excellent.
On the day of my wedding, I didn’t have to stress at all. Chris and his team took care of everything beautifully. The servers were so awesome! My bridal assistant was just phenomenal as well.
Basically, I could keep going about how wonderful the whole experience was, but I think you get the point. I will never forget my wedding at Pier 5 and I would never hesitate to recommend it to any bride-​to-​be.

Stayed here 3 nights. We couldn’t have asked for a better stay. The staff was great. The rooms were clean. We attended «crabby hour» twice. Fun and free wine. How can you go wrong?
Would definitely stay here again.

Had to stay the night in Baltimore because of a concert (I didn’t feel like driving back to DC after rocking out and possibly drinking) but my options were limited since I have a dog. Lucky for me the pier 5 hotel is in the prime location of Baltimore’s inner harbor, my room even faced the Baltimore aquarium and harbor. The staff was friendly and welcoming and treated my dog like the princess she is. The room, was fun (bright bold colors) and inviting. They even were nice enough to make recommendations on restaurants that were dog friendly. The hotel was within walking distance of the concert venue which made it ideal for the evening as I was able to stumble back (drunk, with the help of a friend) to my room. My dog was happy here too, I feel like I got my money’s worth and I would definitely stay here again.

Not really sure why this hotel is not rated higher! I would hands down stay here next time I am in town. The location of this hotel is right on the harbor close to everything! Look no further if you are looking to stay in Baltimore.
Stayed here Friday/​Saturday night. Super cute boutique hotel. Staff is top notch/​super friendly and helpful! You can find the GM socializing with the guests and this is something I have not seen at any other hotel. Everyone was always smiling and saying hello to the guests. This hotel offers a «crabby hour» during the weekdays with complementary beer/​wine and delicious crepes in the lobby and «chocolate hour» on weekends with complimentary champagne and chocolate/​carmel fondue. Not really sure where else you would get something like this at any other hotel. The room was spotless and everything was updated in the room. Thanks to everyone who made our trip as great as it was!
To anyone who complained about paying for parking. what do you expect? Its a city I am pretty sure that every city hotel I have ever been to makes you pay for parking one way or an other whether its included in the daily rate or charged separately.

1^st thing I must say is we stayed here for very cheap, almost 70% off their regular price. So, that makes a BIG difference for a review… You don’t seem to expect or demand as much when you get a great deal. Anyway, nice place, spacious rooms with high ceilings, great location that allows you easy walking to the entire inner harbor and Little Italy. It’s also very beautiful at night due to it’s location on the water. The staff was extremely friendly and accommodating.

I read past reviews on Unilocal and was not really sure what to think. It almost seemed like things were suspiciously bad.
Anyway, I am sitting in their ridiculously chic lobby to set the record straight because I love this hotel too much to not share!
Think W hotels but slightly more laid back and better customer service.

This is a independent, non-​chain, cute little boutique hotel that has funky décor and art all over the place. They have Ruth Chris (yes, that ridiculous steak restaurant) and McCormick’s & Schmicks (seafood!) attached to their lobby and spilling out onto the street with waterside tabels. No bland full-​service hotel restaurant here! Only the good stuff. For breakfast they had eggs, waffels, paninis, bagels, yogurt, coffee, etc. right there in the lobby– more than enough to start the day.
The aquarium is literally next door, and power plant will fulfill any bar/​club craving you have. The gallery has some nice shops, though this area is probably better known for restaurants, not shopping.
The rooms were cute. Again, the whole art theme. They are not your bland, beige décor. You can tell that this hotel is not brand spanking new, but whatever– you’re not paying an arm and a leg for it. And it’s completely unique and independent. It’s really nice to stay somewhere different that is not a cookie cutter place you would pay the same– actually probably more– for.
Oh yeah, and free craft beer during their happy hour/​crab dip making class. And free wine with their chocolate fountains (food is free as well!). Seriously, what hotel does that?! At the Pier 5. That’s where.
