I was super thirsty one day and decided to stop here for a drink. I got their iced tea and it was not good at all. it was just ice, tea colored water, and lots of sugar. It did not taste like iced tea at all. The inside and the outside look greasy, for lack of a better term. I almost turned back because I didn’t want to touch the greasy handle to open the door to enter. I haven’t had the courage to go back and try anything else yet. They are renovating the place it seems since I see construction boards all around it.

Why do I keep coming back here? They constantly screw up orders or simply forget to give me something in my order. Waited 15 minutes tonight for my meal and the chicken was hardly warm. Doesn’t even live up to Popeyes franchise standards, let alone real restaurant standards.

Hrmmmmm i’m not sure what’s up with all the negative reviews people! This is a Popeyes with quality fried chicken, mashed potatoes, and delicious Cajun french fries… It just happens to be located in a shady neighborhood in Baltimore! I’ve done the drive-through service here before and never had a problem. I’ve never had to wait too long for the food and haven’t had anyone trying to attack my car. That being said, just grab your food and keep it moving!

Two words. Health Hazard… Animal control needs to come to this spot because this Popeye’s clearly has no control over the way they cook their animals. okay that was corny, but i figured its a franchise, how bad could it be… and i was craving some Popeye’s chicken. The chicken was coked but still bloody and the skin tasted odd. I didn’t even eat it all. Then the fries were hot, but soggy. The biscuit was just hard. I don’t know, it was so weird, i just threw it out. They were out of cold slaw in the middle of the day, they didn’t have any sauces but 2 that no one has ever heard of. Anyway, after i ate what i thought i could stomach, i felt horrible… almost like i had food poisoning. I usually have an iron stomach and never felt that way about any place i’ve ate and i don’t have food allergies so… who’s to blame for this catastrophe: POPEYE’s(on north Broadway, other Popeye’s are fine) The best thing was the Hawaiian punch.

Hmmm. I must be an anomaly, because I’ve not had the negative experiences here that the previous reviewers had. The Love of My Life and I stopped in on Wednesday afternoon(5⁄9) for a quick lunch and went in the drive-through for chicken boxes. There was a bit of a wait, yes, but 1. it was 1:30pm, that’s lunchtime for most who are working, so if you think you’re going to roll out in less than 10 minutes, think again and 2. it was pretty obvious from what we were hearing on the speaker that someone was being trained. In that case, I’m going to cut someone a break — anyone can be new at a job. Usually, I find that if I treat them with a little respect, I’ll get it back — that philosophy wasn’t wasted here, because when we rolled up to the window, the staff was as nice as could be and even threw in a little extra food for the«trouble». Sorry, but we didn’t have anyone trying to approach our car. Maybe we’re not exciting enough, or perhaps we’re just not nervous in «shady» areas. Somehow I have to keep reminding people that you’re in Baltimore, not Mayberry RFD — it’s only common sense to keep a car door locked while you’re in it. Of course, I also see people leaving laptop computers and expensive GPS systems in their cars in plain sight, too, so perhaps I’m a bit optimistic. I live near the Inner Harbor, I AM from Baltimore(born and raised and proud OF it), and there’s plenty of cheap carryout if you know where to look — but don’t be surprised if you have to go out of your gentrified plastic neighborhoods to find it. ’nuff said.

Just adding to Jason’s review… In terms of food, it’s your typical Popeye’s food. But seriously, every single time I come here, I have to wait for something to be made. Last time it was a chicken sandwich. The employee said it’d be a short wait so I opted to wait but it really wasn’t… must have easily been at least 10 minutes. Anyways, that’s still not as bad as the time I went and they told me they ran out of chicken to make fried chicken with… That was not only a disappointment but it was weird in a surreal kind of way too. One last thing… even though its near Johns Hopkins Medical Center, its still in a kind of shady area. I was at the drive-thru once and someone tried to open my door as they walked by. Fortunately, it was locked… I’d suggest you do the same if you go in the drive thru: P

What can I say? I live on the Inner Harbor, I’m not from Baltimore, and I was looking for some cheap carry-out. Apparently there is no such thing in the city of Baltimore. I waited a half hour for chicken to drop as there was nothing ready but wings. I was shouted at repeatedly by the waitstaff — who, quite vocally, made it clear that she was ready to go as her shift was about to end — that I should just get mild. Who goes to Popeye’s for mild? To top it all off I’m reasonably certain I saw one of the cooks pick his nose. I doubt sincerely that anyone will check Unilocal for a review of Popeye’s, especially THIS Popeye’s, but in case someone does I’ve done my civic duty. Good luck out there.
