I used to use the CVS down on 25th and Charles but, man, that place is a wreck and I routinely have to wait half an hour for prescriptions that are already ready. I called in an RX at this Rite-aid this morning. Didn’t have to wait over the phone at all to get an answer and when I asked when I could come pick-up the employee I spoke with said«Right now, I’m getting it ready.» I live literally a block away and thought there was no way that would be true but, sure enough, it was ready the moment I arrived less than 10 minutes later. They pharmacy staff has always been very helpful and gone out of their way to look up insurance information I don’t know about my account — figuring out what insurance will pay for or not, etc. The rest of their store has things stocked at the nearby Ace Hardware for much cheaper. And the staff at the front cash wrap are always friendly and greet me genuinely.

A Rite-Aid that sells liquor,(cheap) wine, and beer? Huh. They occasionally carry Guinness(in singles and 6-packs), and regularly carry Heineken Red, Bass, and a few other non-Budweiser/Miller beers. The store itself is on Greenmount, in a pretty low-income area, so I wouldn’t go out of my way to walk there after dark, but it’s fine otherwise. It’s right across the street from Pete’s Grille. However, I’ve found the service from the pharmacy to be very poor, bordering on incompetency. I’ve had prescription orders ignored, gotten phone calls by mistake, and had valid prescription orders denied — to the point where my doctor had to call in the prescription, which I’m sure he loved. If you need booze or toothpaste, during daylight, this is fine. Otherwise, go elsewhere.
