A great selection of flavors and options and a friendly staff make this one of the quintessential local spots in the summer time. Always make sure to go a few times when it is open.

We stumbled upon Gifford’s Ice Cream while in Vermont and researched it to find out it is actually a Maine product! Lucky us, Maine was next on our travels. There are 56 flavors to be tried in their ice cream stands… we have 49 more flavors to go! Every single flavor has been fantastic so far! Don’t miss this regional treat when in the area! Also got a t-shirt at the ice cream stand…

Ermergerd. ERrrss creeerrrmmm. Gifford’s is freaking unreal. Forget all of the ice cream you’ve consumed in the past, as I dare say that Gifford’s would beat them in a head-to-head challenge. It’s the real deal old-timey, side-of-the-road, walk-up/take-out ice cream joint, which should please both locals and tourists looking for a slice of americana. Get the waffle cone, two scoops of any of the«Maine» flavors(I highly recommend the Maine Black Bear), and watch your frown turn upside down.

An absolute must-visit if you feel like enjoying the sweet taste of childhood. Located at an outdoor stand on Broadway, Gifford’s offers a lengthy selection of ice creams, smoothies, yogurts and sundaes and flavors any true Mainer would appreciate, like Maine Lobster Tracks, Moose Tracks, Muddy Boots and Wild Maine Blueberry(which actually is made with wild Maine blueberries). Gifford’s selects one perfect ice cream to be a «Flavor of the Week» served at a discounted price on Mondays. You can purchase ice cream by the pint, ½ pint, quart, ½ gallon, Sampler(six 2 oz specialty samples) or simply by the cone or cup. Not in the mood for ice cream? Enjoy a fountain drink or an iced coffee with your group at the picnic tables on the lawn behind the stand. Want to beat the Maine summer heat? Get to Gifford’s!

Another great spot in Bangor that we forget to go to. I had the blueberry ice cream and it was amazing. I just found out that they have ice cream cakes. The only problem now is trying to decide what type of made up celebration we need to have one. We are defiantly going back a lot this summer

Really fantastic walk up ice cream stand serving quality products with great friendly service. Ice cream tastes great too. So far the best Maine Blueberry ice cream I’ve enjoyed on this visit. Loved the fresh home made waffle cone. Prices weren’t ridiculous either.

Ehhhh, it was nothing compared to Mt. Desert’s Ice Cream. It didn’t hold the creaminess or smoothness that I prefer. But all in all, it was good ice cream– just not the best.

The ice cream parfaits are amazing, and the selection is vast. A little bit pricey, but worth it.

Always love it! Whenever I’m in town and they are open on a nice sunny day I gotta swing by and get me an orange pineapple cone. Love that stuff!

Great road side ice cream shop. They had two sugar free flavors the night I stopped by(Black Raspberry and Butter Pecan). My wife got one of their own creations, something called Moose Tracks(basically a vanilla ice cream with fudge and nuts). About 25 total flavors listed, plus shakes, sundaes, etc. About 2 miles west of I-95 and 1 exit south of the Bangor Mall area.

If you’re a fan of ice cream, this is the place to go. With great flavors such as Moose Tracks, Brownie Batter, Maine Wild Blue Berry and Maine Lobster Tracks, how can one go wrong. Obviously you get the originals as well as some other creative flavors but this palce is definitely recommended.

For Maine, I’m quite suprised that there are places that stay open later than…8PM. This place is open till 10PM every night! From what I can tell, Mainers really enjoy their ice cream. It was 9PM on a Sunday and there were at least 10 people waiting in line at the ice cream stand, and maybe a couple of cars parked, idle, with couples inside eating their cones. I ordered the Maine Black Bear and it was divine! First of all, they use their vanilla ice cream(award winning) swirled with Maine blueberry ribbon, and choco covered berry bites. Probably my favorite flavor of ice cream in existence.

Hi Everyone! I thought I would comment on Gifford’s Ice Cream. The ONLY thing I am unhappy about is that this fine establishment is seasonal. The Ice Cream menu is large and varied. So far, I cannot find any faults with the staff, the icecream, the location, the ice cream, the pricing, the ice cream… errr… you get the Idea… I LOVETHISPLACE !!! The product quality of this family run business is top notch. Even a sundae for the puppy! with milk bones! So go and try Giffords when in the area, you will NEVER be disappointed.
