Best Western Mountain Lodge At Banner Elk

Visitors from Florida, stayed for 3 nights Feb 10^th — 12^th. Check in was nice, they gave me a little bag of dog treats. Room was clean, everything worked. We ended up in a room in the back, next to a big field to walk our lab. Breakfast was nice, hot eggs, grits, gravy, sausage, biscuits, toast, fruit, pancake maker (the usual continental). Wifi worked after entering a user and password from a paper given from the front desk.
About the only negative was someone in a room near us was up talking all night. I wasn’t sure if this was the TV, or someone living in the room who stays up all night. I was in room 133 on the bottom floor which is a corner room.
I skied at Sugar mountain while the wife stayed in the room with our lab. One day we took our lab to the top of Sugar, and the other to Beech to see snow, which was the reason for the trip.

Clean, old school motel. Semi-​modern lobby. Nice breakfast spread. Rooms have new beds and are clean. Great location. Friendly employees.

I take most reviews with a grain of salt and I keep an open mind going places. So my wife and I get up there and friendly staff greets you, room was on the backside lower level and room was nice, clean and the bed was very comfortable. Had dinner there (marriage retreat) and also had breakfast the next morning. Both were very good (the woman who we met at Breakfast was very helpful and went out her way to assist us). I saw nothing here to bring about any concern or complaints so guess you have to consider the source of the negativity and remember «be ye thankful

Stayed here in march for the winter package with sugar mountain. The price we got per night is accutare for what yiu get. Lets start with the positives :
Location: within a mile within Sugar Mountain.
STAFF: was friendly and helpful
Package deal with kift tickets and equipment rentals included.
Things they coukd work on:
Breakfast: the lady working the friny desk raved about their breakfast but it was far from that. The food is cooked is huge batches and just sits out in the warmers. I would suggest cooking in smaller batches so iy is fresh. Also, there wasnt much variety. We were there Sun through Thursday and it was the same food everyday.
Showers had very low water pressure and the water would randomly switch to scolding hot every few minutes which hurt. The hot water was reakly hot which is generally a good thing but not in this case.
All in all a basic stay with no frills. The heater worked on the cold days in March

My husband and I were on a camping trip, but I did not feel well enough to tolerate the outdoor summer heat, so we decided to stay in this hotel for one night.
Pleasant staff but very under staffed for a busy weekend. They have a nice swimming pool. Free hot breakfast.
Our room (# 206) was clean and had two double beds. We noticed that both beds were a little lopsided but I thought we could deal with it for just one night. As you can see on the photo I provided. I woke up hopping from one bed to the other. One bed was almost tilting like a sea-​saw where my side was jutting up and my husband’s side was slumping down. At midnight, I left my husband on one bed and hopped on the other bed hoping it was a little better. Wishful thinking… the second bed was like a tilting bucket. Oh, my back was hurting and I could not get a good night sleep. The worst beds I have ever slept on in my entire life!!! I could have slept on my camping air mattress and would have had a much better night sleep. My advice. Check your bed first thing before it’s too late at night to make a fuss and in the end… have to endure all the pain and frustration of not getting what you paid for.
