Was so pleased to find Jak Frost right on the downtown square! Not only a fun place to get ice cream but when you walk in you literally feel like you’ve walked into a Disney movie! What a great addition to Baraboo. We own The House that Fred Built, a vacation home right off the square and we will be recommending this cool place to all our guests!

Short Version: Fantastic, locally-owned little frozen yogurt business that seems to be popular with the teens and families in the area. It doesn’t offer quite the selection of yogurt or toppings that larger froyo places offer, but it’s still well-worth visiting. Plus, the décor is absolutely gorgeous! Long Version: This is, literally, the most gorgeous frozen yogurt décor I’ve ever seen. It’s not obnoxiously-colored(I’m looking at you, Orange Leaf, with your horrid orange and lime green), and it feels elegant and relaxing. Their mascot is the cutest little penguin, and it’s all over the signage. The color scheme is blue and white, and they’ve done an amazing job with it. The furniture all matches, and again, it just looks so modern and elegant. This is easily the most-attractive, least-cheesy interior I’ve ever seen in a froyo place, and I’ve probably been to 30+ at this point. There is a decent amount of seating available for use. They have a couple of couches as well as some tables with chairs as well. There isn’t a huge amount of seating, but this place could probably seat 15 – 20 people(on an estimation). The yogurt here seems a bit more expensive than typical froyo locations. It’s 51 cents per ounce whereas I’m used to 48 or 49 an ounce being the standard. If that two cents helps them operate as a small business instead of a chain, though, I’m all-for paying it. Since this is a «small business» type of location, it doesn’t have quite the space nor the resources to offer the same huge selection as other froyo places. They offer 8 – 10 different flavors(instead of the 12 – 14 that other places offer), and they have a limited amount of toppings as well. I’m not sure if I had just come when they first opened, but all of their toppings were covered with lids. This seems to keep things a bit fresher, but if there was a long line, I imagine this would slow down the toppings process quite a bit. They don’t actually use a standard credit card register either. They use Square(on a tablet) to process their payments. They do take credit cards, though, but it gives you an idea of the«mom and pop» type of business I’m talking about. The frozen yogurt was yummy. One of the machines wasn’t working, so I couldn’t get the Cookies & Cream I was after. I notified the staff, though, and they spent the rest of my visit trying to get the machine working, so it does seem that they care about having things in working order. All of the toppings seemed perfect consistency and not stale. It definitely had the delicious taste of frozen yogurt that I love.
