Jean Lafitte Fishing Charters

If you are in New Orleans and looking to get away from the city to fish these are the guys. EJ took us out bright and early and started the day off catching two fish right away. We moved on to different areas and and caught more fish and enjoyed good conversation. He was polite and extremely knowledgable about the fishing spots. We ended the day with 11 fish and great memories. We docked and he filleted the fish and recommended a place that would cook some up for us. They did and it was excellent.

We were in New Orleans for a bachelor party and decided to spend a day fishing. I couldn’t be happier that we scheduled a charter with these guys. We scheduled a few weeks in advance and asked to be picked up from our hotel in the French Quarter (about 30 – 40 minutes from where we would fish). We were picked up early and had a great drive down to Lafitte.
We went out with Dave, who was the perfect captain. Apparently the weather had been bad for the several weeks before we arrived, and the water was still murky as a result. Consequently, we were told that the fishing wasn’t as epic as it can be when the water is clearer. Nevertheless, Dave knew of some spots to try, and we caught a bunch of fish – speckled trout, catfish, one redfish, one garfish, and, unintentionally, one crab. We would have caught more, but we were a boat full of novices, and so weren’t as quick to «set» the hook as we should have been. It was a really perfect day, and Dave was the perfect guide.
Next time I want to fish in New Orleans, I will definitely be calling these guys up again. If you’re looking to fish near New Orleans, I highly recommend this outfit.
