Currituck BBQ Company, I have just one thing to say to you: The Lord himself must have taught you how to make hushpuppies. Crsipy, golden, crusty on the outside, light and happy on the inside, dipped in melted butter should you choose to experience heaven, the Currituck BBQ Company hushpuppy is a thing of gastronomic beauty. Located on Rt 158(between the Virginia/NC border and OBX) Currituck BBQ, understandably, has fans from all parts of the country. Just check put the USA Map on the wall and put a pin push in your hometown. Currituck BBQ Company specializes in hickory smoked, slow-cooked Pork BBQ and Beef Brisket and in Pork Ribs and BBQ Chicken. It’s delicious. It’s worth a stop on your way down to the beach and back up again.

This is where you need to get your big! The best in the area! Great family atmosphere. Great menu. I would of given it 5 stars if the price was a little cheaper!

Whoa, Nellie! You know how Eastern barbecue should be chopped and smoky(due to it being slow cooked above wood)? Well, neither is the case here. Great stop for wannabes who maybe have baked their skulls in too much sun. Or a Delaware-ean. Cheap as all get out, and the sides aren’t bad. Best ye keep drivin’ if you can, less you aren’t an office anado about your ‘cue. One thumbs up. The other thumb is checking Google maps.

We come down to outerbank for 2 days vacation, after 2 days of «seafood brainwash», we kind of like want to find something local and fresh farm food. the restaurant is the way that we go home to the north, it’s a nice small restaurant near gas station, they have a pig sign next to the road, it’s easy to find. I got a Ribs and 1meat combo, it come with 2 biscuit and drink. Don’t forget to try all the sauce in the restaurant. They are just delicious! And the price is just lovely by the way.

Excellent. Expect to be greeted by Southern Hospitality. Staff(when there isn’t a line out of the door, of course) makes it a point to check on each table individually, asking for feedback and offering drink refills as well as trash pickup. Conclusively, the customer service is great. With the exception of a few menu items, Currituck BBQ Company prides themselves in fresh and homemade selections extending to the sauces and sweets available for purchase. It is evident that a lot of hard work goes into the food that is prepared, and nothing beats family recipes and hard work. This restaurant represents southern tradition. Pork BBQ– pulled and chopped, so don’t expect it to be chunky or just pulled, unless you specifically order a fully cooked pig in advance. Smoked for hours in delicious seasoning and finished with a light famous NC vinegar sauce(with many other sauce options available at your table or to go) Sauces– NC vinegar(of course) made in house. Larry’s original BBQ sauce, which is also blended in house and has a sweet tomato base. South Carolina mustard, with a bit of a kick. Brisket sauce, and a sweet honey infused brisket sauce. Every flavor pallet will be satisfied. Beef Brisket– PULLEDANDCHOPPED, so this is NOT sliced unless you place a call in order well in advance for sliced brisket. Now serving burnt ends for those who enjoy larger pieces of brisket and deep smoked flavor. The brisket on the menu is great for sandwiches as well, and is served the same way as the pork BBQ. Flavor is of course different. Ribs and chicken– good size, very flavorful from the seasoning and smoking process. Pulled BBQ chicken is pulled straight off the bone in chunks and tossed in a savory sauce. Great for sandwiches. Fried chicken is also available, however because it is all cooked fresh to order, will take about 30 minutes to prepare. Call ahead orders are welcomed and suggested. Chicken chunks are a great alternative, also cooked to order using fresh chicken. Sides– yummy and southern! Fried okra, hush puppies, collards(in season), sweet potato casserole, macaroni and cheese… Lots of choices, mostly all homemade and delicious! Same goes for dessert! Catering orders– Currituck BBQ caters all kinds of events, from weddings to family gatherings, to work functions… Anything. Full scale, pick up, and delivery options available. Call or email to inquire. Keep in mind that fried foods including hush puppies, fried chicken or fish, and items of that nature will be suggested to order carefully because we all know fried food is its best and most flavorful when it’s fresh from the fryer. Catering trailers are an option for full scale events so items can be fried on site and maintain their texture and heat. In conclusion, it will be worth your time to make this destination a priority. As the locals will tell you, it’s delicious. Take advantage of the 2 $ Tuesday where all 4″ BBQ sandwiches are ONLY2 $(but get there early)

On the recommendation of friend, we stopped here on our back home after a long day. The cashier was very nice and polite and the soda was excellent. I ordered the 3 meat platter double brisket and pulled pork. Uhhhm my brisket looked just like the pork not what I am used to having as I was expecting nice succulent slices of brisket so that I could see the smoke ring(nope that was not to be) my pulled pork was pulled and had barely any smoked flavor. So disappointed. Collards were not over cooked but not very flavorful, hush puppies were greasy. We asked for our order to be served in house but that didn’t work out either it was all put in to go containers.

Well I find myself out in Currituck, NC about every six months and I have finally tried this BBQ. Coming from Texas and no living in Iowa I’ve had my fare share of BBQ. Did I mention I fly for a living and have tried BBQ across America?!? If your looking for a no frills southern feel lunch or even dinner this is the place to stop at. I ate the pork BBQ sandwich with baked beans and green beans for the sides. Keep in mind in this part of the BBQ map coleslaw usually is put on the sandwich. This is one of the best pork BBQ sandwiches I’ve had in a while. Stop by grab a bite continue on to the outer banks!

This is a great place! The folks are really friendly and the food is wonderful. We had the Burnt End sandwich, pulled pork sandwich, green beans, mac&cheese, pickled beets… All fantastic. We will definitely be back. Kids enjoyed their food, too.

This is a fun stop on the way to OBX. It’s a true hole in the wall. But the BBQ and sides are really good. We like sitting outside because we like to bring our dog with us. Go for the sweet tea and one of their homemade desserts and you’ll leave stuffed and happy!

Love, love, LOVE this place! We had a fail with another spot a few miles down the road, so we decided to go here. I had the brisket with Mac and cheese and fried okra. Delicious! My son had a bbq pork sandwich with fries. The fries are amazing! The husband had a massive burger with fries. Best burger in a LONG time! We also had the brad pudding and banana pudding. Analyzing! The service was great and the prices were even better. We will definitely be back! It’s worth the drive considering we live in Norfolk.

What a poor customer service experience! I planned to use Currituck BBQ Company to cater an important 30 – 40 person event, so I sent them an email with an initial inquiry. Their reply was immediate but after that, they failed to reply for three days until I sent a follow-up email. Their subsequent reply was short and curt and they refused to call me on the phone as requested. I explained my desires to them and asked for menu suggestions, but instead of a kind reply, they simply stated that the«quality [of their food] will not be as great» for what I suggested. They also disregarded my concerns about the food setup and failed to offer other available suggestions or offer a price quote for full-scale catering, which is what I was looking for to begin with.

So happy we found this place on our way down to the Outer Banks. Real authentic North Carolina BBQ! Delicious classic vinegar sauces as well as brisket sauce. Tons of great sides to choose from. The Mac and Cheese was creamy and delicious. The BBQ itself was flavorful and well cooked. It was not the best BBQ I have ever had but it was VERY good. Extremely reasonable prices, would definitely come back!

Stopped for a couple of sandwiches on my way back from OBX. Mid afternoon. The place wasn’t busy. We have eaten here many times and return because the que is consistently good. The customer service is headed downhill. The cashier stated that they would not cut my sandwiches in half — and suggested that I unwrap my to go order and use a plastic knife to cut them myself at a table. Really? This is galling — perhaps these folks are a little too pleased with their success… But, when I suggested that I would eat elsewhere, a great flurry of activity burst forth and resulted in two cut sandwiches. Both lacked the requested slaw. I’ll stop again — but with lower expectations.

Omgoodness so good. I ordered the two meat plate, Pulled pork and pork ribs, Sweet papa casserole, Slaw and hush puppies. Blackberry cobbler a la mode to boot. Great place off the highway. The pork ribs fell off bone and were just right. The pulled pork had a smokey taste. They have six different sauces for the meats. I tried the north carolina vinegar, the tomato based and the hot. All good.

I’m not a huge fan of BBQ food, so my review may not be the best to go by on taste. I stopped here on my way down to the Outer Banks. The lady at the counter was extremely friendly and welcoming to everyone there. I order a quarter chicken white meat meal with baked beans and cole slaw. It was ready in about 3 minutes. The portions were good, but not a huge amount of food. After eating it all, I realized there was more there than it appeared and I felt full when I was finished. The food was all good. They had some other BBQ sauces at the table to try, but I didn’t like any of those. They were all vinegar based and I can’t stand vinegar. Their own original sauce was pretty good though. They have quite a few homemade desserts available as well. I was tempted to try the banana pudding when I was finished eating, but I heard someone order the last one while I was at my table. The atmosphere isn’t anything fancy… I’ve seen fast food restaurants that seem like a palace compared to this place, but that’s not what this place is about. It’s more about good food and having a good time with your family. They don’t have a whole lot of tables inside, but they also have a large covered pavilion outside with a lot of picnic tables that you can eat at. They also have restrooms both inside and out at the pavilion. If you’re a fan of BBQ, you’ll definitely want to put this place on your list!

As a Yankee, I probably have no right to judge this fine establishment. In my best attempt to explain how delicious this was I will give some quotes from my compatriots. «That was the best brisket sandwich I have ever had» «Steve, I’ve never seen you eat that much… and you are going back for banana pudding?» «These hush puppies are perfect and they go well with the brisket sauce.» «A burnt ends sandwich with 2 sides for under $ 10, what a deal.» «Basically it’s amazing and the meat falls right off the bone, the sweet tea is so sweet it will give you diabetes on the spot and the sweet potato casserole is amazing.» Go go go!

Stopped by this place several years ago while on my way to Duck. Was hoping it is still open –it is! Nothing fancy at all but super delicious! They have added tons of outdoor seating as well. If you are headed to the outer banks, give the BBQ a try here.

Ooooohhhhh ma xxxxx! BBQ is divine. Ribs fell off the bone. Chopped brisket was flavorful and juicy. If they slice it, much better I reckon. Pulled pork was just right. I got there around closing time 21:00, but hey were nice to us. Cozy country atmosphere. Colored green, Mac n cheese, and chix were sold out. I gotta try them next time. Oh stuffed…
