Pretty good Sunday breakfast all you can eat brunch. Not a huge selection and it gets crowded, not a bad price. Fresh fruit, bisquits and gravy, etc.

Always a very good meal here. Great variety, big portions, good service, good value. A great place for comfort good or the feeling of a home cooked meal. Cole slaw is excellent– and I usually don’t like coleslaw! Definitely a «go back to» restaurant.

We weren’t sure what to expect based on some of the reviews, but my husband and I very much enjoyed our lunch here yesterday. I had a BLT and my husband had a hot dog, both with fries. My BLT was one of the best I ever had, and the french fries and hot dog were delicious too. The rest room was very clean, the waitresses were very friendly and efficient, and we left very satisfied. We also got a foliage tip from Nicole and enjoyed a spectacular view at the Colebrook River Lake Boat Ramp — thanks, Nicole!

I’m torn with this rating — on the one hand, the wait was long, it seemed like there was some disorganization in getting the orders out, and they forgot to give us our vegetable sides. I can live without my spring veggie mix, but my dining companion was disappointed in not being able to try their coleslaw. However, the prices were reasonable, parking was sufficient, and the food we did receive was good. The homemade lobster bisque was amazing — creamy, not too much salt, and full of lobster deliciousness. I am willing to forgive all other transgressions for another taste of that bisque. My boiled scrod was okay — it didn’t seem like it had enough sauce, but maybe with the crumb topping(which I opted out of) it adds more flavor.

One of the oldest restaurants in the North West part of CT, been around for ages it seems. The menu is mainly diner fair with a flare, meaning there are items you wouldn’t necessarily expect to find in a traditional diner. There are daily specials; service is always solid as there are at least 5 servers on staff; the food arrives fairly quickly from the kitchen even when they are busy, so it makes it easy for a quick in and out lunch or dinner. I don’t get there often but if I am going to be in the general area it is a sure bet I will be stopping there.

Stopped in for lunch wow what a treat! Enjoyed the potato skins and mini corn dogs. Lots of items to choose from. I had a corn beef Reuben awesome. My husband and daughter had burgers which were great. Will return next time in the area absolutely worth it.

Stopped in yesterday morning with the wife for breakfast, we were starving from an all-night fishing trip. 1st thing I noticed was the many signs about the place stating the increase in prices of 20% for all food because of bird flu that affected chickens. Well, if the average price for a dozen eggs was about $ 2.50 before the outbreak, and now it’s 4 bucks, maybe $ 4.50, does it really warrant a 20% increase in prices across the board? I don’t think so, it’s BS. Do the math. I like to support small business, but to me, it’s taking advantage of a situation. Our breakfasts were OK, nothing special, the total bill was over $ 26, for a breakfast that should’ve been closer to 20 bucks. Yeah, the 20% increase hurt, but the prices were on the high side for an average breakfast before the increase anyway(we get around, see my list for breakfast places in CT). Like, charging an extra $ 2.50 for a side of home fry potatoes. Service was very good, our waitress was very nice & attentive. But the Log House has lost any future business from me, the value is simply not there. No, it’s not a lot of money we’re talking about here, but I refused to be nickel and dimed for a completely average breakfast.

If there is nowhere else to eat and you want something homely family feel to it. I’d say go for that restaurant.

Awesome spot with a family feel. Great food, esp the burgers. Soups are nice too. They have a band that plays light, easy to listen to music.

If your looking for some good home cooking. Stop! Don’t go in, the food is tasteless and poor quality. The Service was poor. Also not very clean! I don’t understand why people go there? I have nothing good to say about our experience.

Stuck in a time warp, this pseudo rustic stop out on 44 between New Hartford and Winstead is an affordable, decent homespun place for a family meal. The menu tells the story of the couple who built this place following a decade of running a 24 hr diner on the same spot. Reeks of old post WWII America, something that is becoming ever more rare. Offerings are similar to what you’d see in a diner/family restaurant, with the usual breakfast all day as a fail safe. Service has been prompt and friendly the few times we’ve been in here.

I am not a local, but this is probably my favorite place near Winsted. This is a traditional, comfort food restaurant with a rustic décor and a varied menu. I’ve eaten here for lunches and dinners and never had a bad meal or bad service. Prices are quite reasonable.

I wasn’t impressed. The restaurant is dated and showing its age. The had a buffet the morning I went. It was later in the morning and the buffet looked like it was picked through. Not appetizing. I ordered off the menu and was made to feel like I had unconvinced the waitress. The meal was breakfast. I don’t think anyone can botch a breakfast meal. But it wasn’t what I expected.

Wow this place takes you back to the prefast food era and delivers exactly what you expect for a hearty breakfast of bacon and eggs with crispy home fries –without being too big headed about it. The locals all must keep it a secret because it doesn’t really tell you much from the outside appearance. In fact i was hesitant because it was not bragging about its food from the road(as it should). This is the way it used to be way back when Diners where reliable. Service was friendly and the prices are very appropriate and I always appreciate a place that has WIIFI. for us to Unilocal about right away.

My boyfriend and I have eaten here twice, and the second was DEFINITELY our last. The first time was alright, we did the breakfast buffet on a Sunday morning. We sat at the bar because it was quite busy. The entrance to the kitchen as well as the drinks were all in front of us so we were right next to the waitresses the whole time. The waitresses all seemed stressed out and pissy. It was not a relaxing breakfast by any means, but the food was fine. The second time we went about a year later I was unenthusiastic but willing to give it another shot. We did the buffet again. Long story short, I found hair in my food(not mine– I have long hair, these were not my length or color) as well as a large ant in thy syrup i poured at the buffet table into a bowl.

Ok, is all it gets. Table was sticky, vary, very dated atmosphere, and staff was pretty trashy. Food was not terrible, but will never return unless I am desperate
