We went to try it out as the new Blue Water Grill. WORST. SERVICE. EVER. We waited easily 15 minutes for our meal once it was ordered from a rather unpleasant server. The calamari was rubbery and tasteless. We asked the waitress for cocktail sauce. She forgot about it and blamed someone else. She never asked how our meals were — only did we want another cocktail. We waited over 10 minutes after we finished our meal to get our check. When I went up to our server to ask for it, she looked at me blankly and it took another 2 – 3 minutes for her to bring our check. This place is so close to where we live. It would be great to be able to go here on a regular basis. I will never waste my money here again.

This is a real review not from a relative of the owner. First the not too bright bar tender could not make an Irish coffee. I was served a salad with beets that were canned and old fresh are available. McDonald’s filet was better than the haddock. My french fries were not cooked and the coleslaw was so rank. My husband received three count them three scallops for his main course. At the time we dined we were the only two people there.

Just have not been able to get around to this review. Went to this restaurant as we were dropping our son off at Roger Williams. We made a reservation, got a table outside which was nice, but that was the extent of a pleasant visit. We ordered dinner and the appetizers were barely edible, then after waiting over 1 hour from the time we placed our orders, I asked the server where our food was as we had been waiting for an hour. She took an attitude and said I put your order in when your appetizers came out, like we normally do… otherwise tough. Salad was below par, wilted and brown… no nice lettuce just iceberg. Then came the entrees… one person had scallops…4 scallops for $ 26, even in NY we get more than that and risotto was like glue. My wife ordered the veal in brown sauce and I believe the sauce was right out of a jar and mushrooms tasted rancid. My meal, seafood boulibaise was skimpy, over cooked and lacked any flavor. Our son’s steak was fatty and tough. So to say the least, with poor service and horrendous food, I will never go there again as there are much better restaurants in the area, especially bristol, for the same $. This was a rip off… take it off your list

Went here again the other night. Everything was dobne as I asked and the people were great. I can’t tell you how much better the experience is now as compared to the old owners. Case in point, and I should have written this earlier, my bad… I called them after my daughter’s first communion to see if I could get some of their pizza to use as an appetizer for the after party. Anyway, they were not open yet so I said I understood. They asked what i wanted to order and I said 6 pizzas, they asked the chef if he would do it since he was in already. No problem. I can’t say enough nie things about the people at this place. Food is good too.

I have been to Tyler Point Grille several times and have always had a good meal. Not so much this time around, for two reasons(and please don’t be eating while you are reading reason #2): 1. Bacon grease — I know many chefs have this love affair with the rich, smoky flavor of bacon and will use it at every opportunity. The problem is that not everyone thinks that adding bacon is a great idea, whether for dietary or religious reasons. For me, the rich fattiness makes me ill — literally. It must be my healthy, low-fat diet I’ve been on for the last dozen-or-so years. Anyway, I reduced my meat intake about 16 years ago years ago and now am happily subsisting on veggies, fish, and some poultry. Occasionally, I will have bison/elk/ostrich, which are all delicious and extremely low in fat and cholesterol. I looked at TPG’s menu and avoided something that while otherwise yummy sounding, included a «bacon cream», opting instead for seared scallops with yellow pepper risotto. No mention of bacon there, so I thought I was good to go. Several mouthfuls into the risotto, I tasted bacon. I couldn’t see bits of bacon, but the taste was definitely there. My evening from that point on consisted of stomach upset and nausea. Yes, I told the waiter, but while he said he would mention it to the chef, he never did, and seemed more amused that someone would actually object to throwing some swine into my seafood dinner. I should have discreetly spat out the risotto into a napkin, but I did not. My bad. Still, if you are going to put in an ingredient that most sentient human beings would know may not be acceptable to some for dietary or religous reasons, it would not be so horrible to say so. 2. Chef’s nose-wiping — We were seated right near the open kitchen area and I was facing it, so I had a good view of the chef in charge — a stock dark-haired woman wearing a black, floppy chef’s hat. I don’t know her name, and I’m not sure I do want to know, but here was this woman alternating between touching the patrons’ food and taking the same ungloved fingers to wipe her nostrils — not once, not twice, but consistently throughout the meal. I’m not sure if it was to wipe sweat, or she had an itchy nose, a cold, the flu, allergies, or the Bubonic Plague, but it was really disconcerting. I suspect it was to wipe sweat, as I saw her also wipe her bare foream against her nose numerous times, but I can’t say for sure. I just hope that whatever she might have is well beyond the communicable stage.(I’ll let you know if I should be forced to blog from my sick bed in the next few days.) So good that she was willing to share both her talents and her snot with the good folks of Barrington and environs. Again, I have had some really good meals here before and someday I might come back. Hopefully, by then, the grease-loving, nose-wiping chef will have learned from the error of her ways and will put a stop to the mucous and bacon grease festival.

This was our first time back under the new ownership and it was disappointing. Salads were terrific although the blue cheese vinaigrette was not my favorite. Food was ok. Service started out well enough but steadily slipped away. A 20 minute wait after everyone had finished their entrees was excessive. This, combined with 4 waitstaff(except ours) standing idly by in the middle of the dining area chatting while we waited was enough to keep us away for a long time.

We dined here on saturday night and I am so happy that we did! It was our first time. We arrived around 6:30. The place was getting slammed. The waitress Laurie was on it, she looked me right in the eye, and made us feel that she was interested our dining experiance. She knew all the little things, that most staff miss. The food was awesome. We had the calamari(Great) and the stuffed mushroon appetizer. I had the mushroom ravioli, very good… We both had dessert. I indulged in the triple chocolate mousse, as well YUM Next time I go I will sit on the outside patio. We will be back !

This place has always been a favorite. From the fresh seafood, to the burger, the menu is great all around! I actually had my bridal shower here years ago and had the brunch menu. Wonderful setting, excellant food, on point service! Would highly recommend for a special occasion

Great spot on the water — Groupon brought me here! I would definitely come here again. Service was EXCELLENT! The Fried Calamari is tossed with FRESH tomatoes — what a surprising & tasty difference from other calamaris I have ordered — and the usual garlic oil & hot peppers. YUM! I enjoyed the Pistachio Salmon with baby spinach, heirloom tomato salad, balsamic glaze. I was disappointed to see that the Salmon wasn’t encrusted with the pistachios — only topped. However, it was still delicious. Instead of the mesclun greens salad that comes with the entrée, I enjoyed a fantastic bowl of Lobster Bisque for only $ 1.50 extra. Score! My boyfriend, a VERY picky eater, thoroughly enjoyed his New Zealand Rack of Lamb with braised root vegetables in a roasted garlic balsamic reduction. He finished his meal, minus the root veggies. Trade in those roots for something else if you’re not a fan of parsnips. For dessert, we shared the Cannoli and Chocolate Flourless Torte. HEAVEN!!! We enjoyed all this with the special $ 15 bottle of Banfi Chianti. Cheers!

I dined at Tyler Point Grille last night with a few friends; one of us had a gift certificate. I’d never even heard of the place and when the name of the restaurant came up, «grille» had me thinking it wasn’t going to be as fancy as it was. The restaurant is in a great spot on the water. The service was impeccable and flawless; our waitress was friendly and prompt. The décor is charming; warm and inviting. I noticed some outdoor seating as well, which would be a pleasure to utilize in the warmer weather. We started off with a bottle of Oregon Pinot Noir, fried oysters and the bruschetta. The dressing for the fried oysters was Thousand Island(ghetto dressing) but it was a nice compliment to the yummy, warm and soft oysters. Our waitress kept the soft and crumbly bread coming all night long. Prior to our entrees, we were served a nice sized fresh green salad. One complaint on this; I ordered the blue cheese dressing and was surprised to see that it was an oil mixture with clumps of blue cheese mixed in; disappointing to say the least. I’m a fan of the creamy blue cheese dressing. I ordered one of the specials; lobster tail over penne with a garlicky, mascarpone cheese sauce and sundried tomatoes. One word: awesome. It was so wonderfully yummy in my mouth I didn’t want to stop eating it. The lobster was cooked perfectly and left in the tail, garnished with a nice piece of fresh basil. I have the leftovers for lunch today and my mouth is watering just writing this review. We didn’t even attempt to eat any dessert as we were stuffed, but judging by the quality of the food we ordered, I’m sure the dessert wouldn’t have been a disappointment. Overall, Tyler Point Grille was a nice surprise for me and I’m glad I was able to dine here. Would I go back? Absolutely.

I’ve got to give it to Tyler Point — they really have made a great impression on me. I came here a year or two ago and thought the food was too average to go back, which pained me because this is a great spot and it’s close to my house. Then I got a Groupon and heard about the new owners and thought ‘well why not?” The food was superb. The raw bar was fresh and cold. The appetizer of crab stuffed artichoke hearts with a delicious creamy sauce was great. The prosecco, priced just right and chilled. Best of all was the lobster linguini which came out piping hot. Literally, I feel like it went from a steaming hot pan to my table(one advantage of the open kitchen design I’m sure is that food doesn’t sit around at all with customers looking on). This dish was so fresh and yummy. The service was also fantastic and we got a hello from the manager/owner, which I like in a restaurant. I will definitely be back, and look forward to being a regular.

We dined here tonight and I am so happy that we did! We arrived around 5:30. The place was getting slammed. I almost went off at the guy at the front because I thought he was joking about nothing being any tables available when there were like 45 open tables, but whatever, so we sat at the bar. It was small, but we had a good time. There was another awesome couple at the bar. We talked and tried to switch off our appetizers. lol The two bartenders were ONPOINT! I believe one gentleman was named Herman and I didn’t catch the other gentleman’s name, but they were superb! They took care of everyone at the bar and had the drinks ready for the rest of the restaurant. The food was awesome. We had the margarita pizza appetizer. I had the steak topped with gorgonzola, which was half a damn cow on your plate, and it came with onion rings and potatoes. The bf had corn and clam chowder with his seafood grille of scallops, salmon, and shrimp. We both had dessert. I indulged in the black forest cheesecake and he had the triple chocolate mousse. I am in love. This place is awesome! I know we are trying to plan an outing and I am definitely thinking of this place. i suggest reservations, but I had such a good time at the bar. I am definitely sitting there again. Thank you Tyler Point Grille! We will be back and we will be bringing others. I am so impressed.

The setting here is fab at the Barrington Yacht Club, the geographic Tyler Point nestled between the two bridges on 114 that divide Barrington and Warren. Never knew it existed til Unilocal saved us when our nearby destination of choice(Billy’s) was closed on a Monday. There was a $ 1 raw bar special at the(small) bar, so my husband and I parked there to slurp some oysters and beer and stayed for dinner. Entrees come with salad or clam chowder — great chowder! — but dinner itself was lackluster. I had a cheese ravioli with shrimp and red pepper cream sauce because it was so talked-up by the bartender as being incredible, but it was just pretty heavy, uncreative, old-school… and pricey. The service from the bartender was nice, helpful and very attentive… slightly too attentive. I’d return for apps at the bar, I suppose, but wouldn’t say I’m motivated to return for dinner.

Superb! We came here on a whim. The sirloin steak was fabulous. The lobster pasta was excellent. The haddock was yummy. Dessert was also very good. Angela, our server, was extremely attentive. The atmosphere was great and being located next to the Barrington Yacht Club and Striper Marina surely doesn’t hurt. I highly recommend the Tyler Point Grille.

Any place that makes ‘crispy spinach’ has got to be tops in my book! Good wholesome meals with a pleasant overall atmosphere. Definitely a local gem that is worth anyone’s time. Solid bar offerings, too(Hard to find Dark and Stormy’s abound!) Good service, a tad up from casual, but still not formal or dressy.

My family & I decided to try TPG at the recommendation of a friend. We walked into the restaurant on a chilly December night and were greeted warmly by the hostess and the cozy décor. The 5 of us were led to a very nice round table towards the back of the dining room, we were very pleased. A round table is so much easier for conversation and I do wish more restaurants had them. Our waitress came over quickly and was very attentive, yet not a nuisance at all, just the perfect amount of attention giving us time to chat, but there if we needed her. Her name was Karen. She knew the menu well and when my husband was torn between 2 items she quickly recommended the Black-Angus Sirloin with Grain Mustard Demi, Gorgonzola Cream & Onion Rings. He raved about his meal from the first bite to the very last morsel. My mom and sister both had burgers and enjoyed them, the sweet potato fries were delicious! A special of the evening was spinach risotto, and the waitress was kind enough to have the kitchen prepare me a side portion to go along with my salmon. Both were excellent! I am not sure I would dine here with younger children as the food is prepared fresh and there is a bit of a wait, although it is very much worth the wait! Dessert, we just had to save room. I felt their tiramisu was just ok but those who ordered the triple chocolate mousse and flourless chocolate cake were very pleased with both.

My first visit here was on my birthday. This could have gone one of two ways, either fantastic… or a reminder that the day just aint that special no mo’. Luckily it was fantastic. Beautiful room, very cozy, and very busy despite a 12 inch snow storm… this alone told me the place must have been special. Started with the Lobster bisque and it was perfect. Nice chunks of lobster and crab, very rich, very fine. The main course was a haddock done with tomatoes and penko bread crumbs, a little bit dry, but still very tasty. My girlfriend enjoyed the mushroom ravioli, and it was delicious. Our waitress was very attentive, the food was fantastic, and my surprise birthday dessert was presented very artfully for the 5 seconds it remained on my plate till i inhaled it. My girlfriend picked a great place for my birthday meal, I owe her big time. Go here, you’ll enjoy and you can even browse boats for sale next door!
