Chicken Express

We have not been there 3 year now they have big open space, the chicken is as usual very good juicy tender, love it their side dish corn nuggets and hushpuppies is our favorites. They have chicken better than KFC, KFC chicken so small leg like big wings that they call chicken legs ?? Every time we come to Bastrop, TX we always go there HEB and chicken express is the best in town.

Like every other location, this one is good. Chicken Express is my new favorite in fast food chicken places. Not greasy, and always hot and good. I like the jalapeño poppers too. Fried okra ain’t bad either.

Some teammates and I stopped at Bastrop’s Chicken Express on the 2^nd day of the MS150 (a bike ride from Houston to Austin in support of the National Multiple Sclerosis Society). After miles in the saddle, you wouldn’t think that fried chicken would be the right choice, but it definitely hit the spot.
I ordered combo #1 (4 chicken tenders, a biscuit, a side, and a drink). The chicken tenders were great. They weren’t overcooked, and there wasn’t too much batter covering the chicken (like other places’ tenders). They came with white gravy for dipping… I didn’t want to use it because I was on a long bike ride, but I couldn’t resist! The biscuit was good, too. It was light and glazed with butter – ah, I felt my arteries clogging up a bit more with each bite, but I didn’t care. My side was corn nuggets. What are corn nuggets, you ask? They are corn dipped in batter and fried. They were the perfect mix of sweet and salty. I got their sweet tea to drink. It was really sweet. This place is definitely not the place to go if you’re trying to eat healthy. But, if you are considering fried chicken in the first place, I’m presuming healthy eating isn’t your biggest concern.
The service was FAST. I hadn’t even finished signing my credit-​card receipt, and my food was ready. This speed was demonstrated with the four people ahead of me, too… I just got why they call themselves Express!
