The staff at HW is friendly and the amenities are right for the price. If you have $ 10k a month to spend on a place that resembles a luxury hotel, more power to ya’. However, for the average person on a budget, OR, for the average senior receiving social security or medicare, this is the place to go. Is the food perfect? No. But it won’t be anywhere. Do I have to still buy a decent amount of food for my mother… yep! But she’s a picky eater. That’s the only complaint I’ve heard, but how the residents feel about food is very important. I wish the cooks would cater more to their audience. More pot roast with potatoes and carrots, less fish with«mango salsa». These people didn’t grow up on pseudo-fancy dishes, so don’t serve it to them. Keep it simple and the residents will be happier. The only thing I have a major problem with is the staffing. The CNA’s are all very nice and accommodating. From talking to them, I can tell that they’re passionate about helping people and not just pretending to care. The only gripe is that there just aren’t enough of them. There’s no nurse on duty on the weekends(unless they’ve changed that recently), and only one CNA per floor! So, that one CNA is responsible for taking care of 50 – 60 people! I don’t feel comfortable with it and I’ve spoken to other people who’s loved ones feel the same way. I can imagine it’s pretty unanimous for those who are aware.
