Amazing cocktail list. Hundreds of Scotch and beer choices. It has a long bar and a separate cocktail bar. I love this place. Any drinker will be satisfied here. When people ask me about a sophisticated place in BR I recommend this place.

Somehow I always end up here on a date. So from that perspective it’s kinda dark, non-obtrusive, perfect for people who like to drink and talk. Seriously. Ladies if you judge a man from what he drinks as I do, bring your boo here and see what he’s made of. My bartender, as all the folks who I’ve encountered here, is crazy knowledgeable about spirits. I refuse to ask for a menu or even glance at the chalkboard. Let the bartenders regale you with their suggestions. My bartender talked me into my first scotch cocktail. I don’t drink scotch. Tonight, I drink scotch. ¡Salud!

So many drink choices! Came here after dinner at another establishment and was pleased! Have a signature drink no problem, a signature liquor no problem, want to try something new no problem. So many selections. There’s something for everyone. Separate bars for hand crafted cocktails, beers, wine, hard liquors. Knowledgeable bartenders who aim to please! If you’re looking for a good nightcap or night of drinks — this is it!

Great place! I am always pleased with the service and compared to anyone in Baton Rouge this place has more beers and more variety of liquor hands down than any place in the area. I am always able to find new beers and liquors that I’ve never tried, and the people are knowledgable and are quick to help you with suggestions. Definitely worth checking out and having a drink worth savoring. My go to place from now on.

I don’t go to the Cove enough. They aren’t lying when they say they have the largest selection of whiskey in Louisiana. Walk in and go all the way back to the big room. It’s incredible. The displays of spirits and coolers of beers are ridiculous. The smaller bar to the right offers specialty cocktail ONLY. No «rum and coke» at that station. There’s a thick menu with a history and description of every drink, organized by spirit. The bartenders are so knowledgable. I suggest going on a slow night so you can post up and get a history lesson on the liquor of your choice.

Amazing place to have a drink. Only wish they had a patio for cigar smokers. But probably my favorite place in baton rouge.

I stumbled into this place on accident. The bar is in the back. You can purchase hotdogs from the guy at the door. The beer selection is incredible. What are you in the mood for is exactly what you will have. The staff is great, helpful and friendly. The ambiance is chill and I have yet to see a night where the bar tender can’t have a conversation with you. There is no need to fight people off the bar to find your drink… it is literally a beer heaven.

I used to pretty much live in this bar when i lived and worked close by it. It’s one of my favorite bars in Baton Rouge. They have an extensive variety of liquors and beers from all over the world, even from my home town Honduras. They can make anything you want even caipiriñas(don’t know if I spelled that right), a drink that is originally from Brazil that is amazing. They set up is nice and fancy too. I recommend it to everyone.

As someone who was born and raised in Baton Rouge, but now lives elsewhere, this place is one of the few bars that I visit when going home for the holidays. The beer and spirits selections are extensive, and the staff is friendly. I have to deduct 2 stars because smoking is allowed inside, and there is no real separation between smoking and non smoking areas. Smoky bars are one thing I do not miss about home.

I really like the set-up here. You can have two different experiences in the same place, which makes it a worthwhile venture. There is a smaller bar/tap room in the front that is a pretty typical set-up, fairly lit, good for bigger groups where you can push together bar tables, and a couple of pool tables. But the real fun is heading to the back… a pretty dimly-lit space with really fun decorations and atmosphere(very pirate-esque). As you’ve read and will read, the beer and whiskey selection is out of this world. In the back, it is mostly bottled beer and whiskeys while the tap room is in the front. The servers and bartenders are well-versed in the libations the bar offers and can assist with folks who have a hard time making s decision. That happens when you have several hundred options in front of you! If you’re in town… DO elect to check this place out!

I was thirsty and the cove has more than enough to quench it. I have a feelin this place might get full of skinny jeans during the weekends… But during the week it is fine.

The Cove is a connoisseur’s dream with an elite collection of rare beer, world renowned Scotch and Bourbon, masterfully crafted cocktails to please every drinker’s wildest desires, all served up by the best bartenders in Baton Rouge! The Cove is in my Top 5 Bars in the country! Yeah, its that good! Like Ahab, I’m always on the hunt for the white whales of the beer world. I’ve driven hundreds of miles and scheduled long layovers to make pilgrimages to score a bottle of the best the beer world has to offer. The cove saves me the expense of travels by keeping about 475 bottles in house and about 40 drafts in the tap room. This isn’t just inflated numbers with most shelf space taken up by brands of the domestic giants, but a highly respectful and well researched collection of the best beers in the world. I would put their list up against anyone’s in the country. The list is usually heavy on Belgians. The only thing about the bottle room is to make sure you have a backup. They may be out of a few beers. However the beers I did have were insane! The Scotch game is ridiculous and some rare and coveted bottles on the shelves. I’ve only had a few, but each was definitely worth the price of admission. Besides having a treasure trove of alcohol, The Cove boasts the best servers in the city that take care of the customer. These people are not here for a job, but booze is their passion and all are very knowledgeable. Chris who runs the tap room is a certified Cicerone. I thought I knew everything about beer and he routinely puts me in my place and makes me look like a child with his Wikipedia like knowledge of fermentia. Cocktail whiz Joey whips up some of the most perfectly made drinks I’ve ever had. Also, they know scotch and ask you about your preferences and help steer you to the right choice. They all have done things in the past to go the extra mile and make every Cove experience memorable. The décor is kind of sparse but I don’t go there for the ambiance. The biggest things I dislike about the Cove is the smoke and location. Other than that, The Cove is almost perfect. Its one of the things I love most about living in Baton Rouge!

I went here strictly for the tap beers. So if you want info on bottled beers or the liquor side, check other reviews. It appeared to have a great selection. Cool feel in the rooms. I went with a friend and was looking over the list. I suggested a Goze to him, and the bartender, Chris, heard me and added some notes to what I said, confirming I was correct on the style. I was actually pleasantly surprised, as most bars I’ve been in have not had a very knowledgeable staff. Sad to say, but I probably haven’t been to many good places then, but I was doubly shocked because of the location. 1) Strip Mall; 2) Louisiana. I’m not hacking on Louisiana, folks, but the state is not known for its beer culture. Of course, it’s slowly getting better with places like Bayou Teche putting out good beers. I think we had 4 beers each, and Chris made some good suggestions. He runs the bar, orders the beer and appears to stay up on things. I felt like he was an asset to the bar, and he was attentive to all his customers, and made good conversation as well. This was a Monday night, and there is a pool table in the tap area. This evening, we found it was«rented» by about 15 guys who brought in monitors and gaming systems. These guys were professional gamers, by the looks of it. They had these huge lap controllers. One dude had a stuffed pokemon(Pichu, after doing some quick research with the co-workers son via picture/text) on his lap while he played. Baton Rouge gets weird, y’all.

My favorite bar in Baton Rouge along with churchills and the bulldog. Very laid back pirate/speak easy themed. Appropriately, this place is easy to miss. The entrance is sort of small and in a random area. Best liquor selection in town with great beer variety as well. Also has a cigar bar. There are separate private rooms for small parties and the main room with two very large bars. You take one step into this place and you’ll realize it’s a big step up from the normal class of bars around town.

I really can’t believe I’ve lived in Baton Rouge 2 years and never heard of this place. It is definitely a place I would go back to. I have been around the block but never to a place quite like this. My husband would live here if he could. My only complaint is that people are allowed to smoke inside. I was there relatively early so it wasn’t bad but I imagine it gets more smokey as the night goes on. My husband drank a $ 40 shot of aged scotch. They put a piece of chilled marble in to function like ice. Pretty fancy. The rest of the time he drank a beer called Yeastie Boys IPA and raved about it. I kept it real and just drank vodka. The bartender recommended I try the Swedish fish vodka with soda and lime. Sounds disgusting but it was really good. A few times I watched the bartender beat ingredients to a pulp to put in the fancy cocktails which was fun. The women’s bathroom is clean and they have a lot of cool stuff on the walls.

The Cove is hands down one of my favorite spots in Baton Rouge for beer and a casual night out. It’s spacious and has several rooms/areas– with a specialty bar that mixes up old fashioneds and other drinks from a by-gone era. Although the lighting is very dark, it’s still a great place to gather with friends for a casual evening. The music, which typically consists of 90’s grunge, is played at a low enough decible so that you can still hear conversations. The wall murals are also ecclectic and fun, with a pirate theme in the main bar area and pin-up-esque murals in the bathrooms. What sets The Cove apart from other bars in Baton Rouge, in my opinion, is the expertise of the bar staff. Don’t know what you want? The bartenders at The Cove know their menu and can recommend something right on target for you. Not to mention the fact that the selection at The Cove is immense(an amazing array of beers from all over the world as well as an impressive selection of whiskey and scotch).

This is a really neat little bar. Not only do they have TONS of different beers(pretty much anything you could want) but they have a huge whiskey and scotch selection. I got my usual Harp, but the b/f and his friend shared a $ 30 glass of Whiskey. I’m not sure what type it was and I don’t drink the stuff, but they were saying how smooth and tasty it was. Feeling adventurous and in the mood for something kind of fancy? Check out the shelf of «unaffordable Scotches». Yeah, you read that right. You can actually buy shots of well aged scotch for as much as $ 300. I would love to meet the person who can afford that. They also had a beer for $ 135 that was 45% alcohol. Um… maybe next time.
