I don’t know about its fresh meat or seafood, but I like its small selection of frozen fish. I wish they carried catfish, esp. nuggets(cheaper than filets) though. Their selection of fresh produce is good, and we try to buy it here as much as possible – buying local – rather than Kroger or Meijer. Their deli salads are good… but that probably means more fat and salt and sugar than is healthy, and there’s no label to know. They have good crunchy snacks like sweet yogurt pretzels and spicy wasabi peas. It’s an old-fashioned small supermarket, with its limitations, but I’ll be heading there to shop this evening or tomorrow.

We’ve tried getting meat or seafood from this location a few times, but we will not be returning. I have gotten shrimp from this location twice, once I could tell by the smell that they were well beyond their expiration date. The second time I ended up barbecuing the shrimp and after a few chews spit it out because that batch was also well past the expiration date. Both times I bought the shrimp and prepared/cooked them the same day. Recently, we went to buy some ribs and specifically asked for ribs that had not been frozen since freezing them significantly toughens the meat. We took the packaging off to prepare them and there is a sticker on the back that says to freeze by December 2010. The manager that I spoke with didn’t think it was a big deal, so now I’m stuck with 8 pounds of sub-par meat for a barbecue.
