Worst service ever!!! A korean man called me to charge me more on a fixed price that they advertised. First off I dont understand him cause he doesnt speak english. Their Galbi isnt all that, plus its over priced. Looks different everytime, especially amount they give of meat.

The food is less than mediocre. if you’re traveling from the city, you may want to check out Hanjoo, Hamjibak or Mapo Galbi just within walking distance from Sarangbang restaurant.

35% of the menu was in English. The rest was in Korean. What Korean place does not have Grill beef or LA Kalbi. The waitress was hovering over us to order. Horrible. And it «grand opening»?!

Walked in with my 2 kids and hubby, empty restaurant, staff look at us quizzically and says«this Korean restaurant» I say, «I know». My family has eaten Korean food before. She says no kids allowed. If there was a no star review allowed that is what I would choose. How rude!

Their portions are big, that’s why the prices are a bit higher than usual. I only went here once because it was hard to see it was a restaurant, but it was good. Side dishes were good also. Just a decent place to eat at when you’re hungry.

We came here thanks to my girlfriend’s boyfriend who had a car and rescued us from the hurricane Sandy catastrophe in East Village. They have Buy Two Get One Free deal for their Galbi Beef. They don’t go cheap on the meat and they gave you a ton of side dishes too. The meat was really fresh and I love their attentive service. We were so full that we couldn’t eat anything afterwards. They also have really inexpensive soju. I wish they have this kind of deals in Manhattan!

One would think that with meat cooking in front of you, plenty of side dishes and a good crowd. that it would equal a decent dining experience. This place has taught me that such is not the case. For starters, it’s not the cleanest. you’ll be swatting away bugs for a good part of your meal. The AC is low, or just not on(in the heart of August). And yes, they advertise getting 1 portion free if you order 2, which should be like a $ 25 steal… but still leaves you feeling underwhelmed. The meat quality isn’t great, along with the service and atmosphere. It’s overall a disappointing time. You will walk out full, and smell delicious. but chances are, only about half happy. If you want a good meal, with thick juicy fresh pork — go over to hanjoo, or hamji bak. If you want some well marinated beef, go over to mapo. Both within 30 seconds(walking distance). It may cost a bit more, but you will not have wasted a penny.

I love this place. This place is right across from the LIRR Murray Hill station. $ 6 dollar bottle sojus everyday. Can’t beat that price for sure! Buy two get one free meet BBQ. Love their kalbi beef here. Marinated nicely, and cook right in front of you on a grill. Tons of delicious little side dishes that come with the entrees. Will definitely come back here again

Ive been here a few times and the experience is always pleasant. Although the restaurant sign has no english on it, the waitresses are very warm and welcoming to non koreans. One waitress spoke chinese to me so they do try to cater to different ethnicities. The abundance of ban chan was amazing! For a party of two, we received 10 dishes! A party of one came in and received the same amount! Very generous portions. We ordered a kimchi gop dol and a bulgogi gop dol from the lunch special menu. Both were piping hot from the sizzling stone bowls that they are served in. Waitress came over to refill our waters frequently and asked us if our food was satisfying. Upon getting the check, they served us some slices of orange as dessert. We left full and happy and were sure to leave a generous tip for their hospitality.

Really like this place. We could tell from the location, awning(all Korean lettering) and how the staff greeted us that not many Caucasians come to this place.(You get the feeling you’ve discovered something). That said the staff could not have been more welcoming and helpful. Today was our second visit. We were a party of 5. We started with typical bon chons; spinach, lotus root, sprouts, tiny dried fish, kimchee, a couple others I can’t name and fresh house made tofu which is fantastic. They also brought out a baked egg casserole which is common and very good. All were replenished immediately without asking and on par with other places we’ve been to like Hahm Ji Bach, Sik Gaek and Kum Gang San.. We shared the codfish soup with tofu and sprouts in a spicy broth, pork bimbibop, squid with onions and kimchee and a short rib bulgolgi. All very authentic and perfectly executed. Lots of sweet, savory, pickled, sour and spicy flavors. It’s great that the staff speaks English well enough to explain the entire menu and steer you in the right direction. And we love that it’s a cozy little hole in the wall filled with locals(Koreans) which reminded us of some places we fell upon while in Korea a couple years ago. Definitely more of a home cooking feel. Oh and prices are beyond low not evey considering the huge portions. Above dishes were btwn $ 12 – 14 each. Another plus is that it’s a nice distance away from busier areas of Flushing, making parking very easy to find. Can’t wait to go back.

Pretty good. Their specialty is chu-uh-tang as I posted on the photos. Lots of ajummahs and ajuhssi’s come here for local flavor. They do sell alcohol as well. Hole-in-the-wall environment. Servers are ajummahs who are not the friendliest people around but they know what they are doing and would serve you well.
