Went back today to use my store credit. I received the credit in June 2012 and it is now September 2012, but I did not see a problem with using it since there was no mention of a time limit nor was an expiration date written on the handwritten store credit receipt I was given. I still also had my original purchase receipt from June in which I returned two blouses and received the store credit for. The lady who rang me up was the same manager who issued me the credit, although I do not expect her to remember me specifically. I was looking to get one item with my credit, a pair of dress pants. The cashier rang me up and I presented my store credit and she seemed annoyed that I had not told her I had store credit before she had rang me up. Ooops, I didn’t mean to do that. I didn’t know I had to show it before my purchase. That was my fault. I apologized to her and said next time I would be sure to let her know before starting the transaction. She pulled out her credit book and looked at my name on the credit receipt and after not finding me listed in her book(it was only for the month of September; there did not seem to be any prior months in it she was able to reference) she looked over my credit receipt again and exclaimed about how it was from back in June and started saying something about it being past 30 days. I asked her if there was a expiration to the credit, and pointed out that nothing of the sort was written on the credit receipt. She had to go ask her manager if it was okay to take it. I could tell she was annoyed with me. I didn’t mean to irritate her, I just really needed some pants for work and I had no money with me since I knew I had store credit to use up. She came back a few minutes later and completed my transaction, allowing me to use my credit after all. She did write on there the date I used some of it and did also write in that 30 days after today it would be no good. That’s fine, I just need you to put it in writing instead of assuming I know something no one told me in the first place. I was able to walk out of the store with what I needed and I was pleased with the fact that they honored my credit since it seems as though they could have simply told me «tough luck» and I would just have to chalk it up to experience.
