This mall is quite small, and always feels very empty. This isn’t a mall where you come to browse, walk around, and people watch. They do have a William Sonoma and a Mitchell’s Ice Cream Shop, but other than that, they have a constantly rotating roster of stores opening up briefly, then closing. I think that La Place is wasted potential. The location is great, given its across the street from Legacy Village and adjacent to Beachwood Place mall, so the consumers are there! But they could really set La Place apart from those two by attracting some boutiques, which would be a great contrast to the big-box chain stores that dominate the suburbs.

La No Place Borders: closed Mélange: closed Yves Delorme: closed Travelers’ luggage: closed Aside from Sushi Rock and Williams Sonoma, there’s little reason to go now. The property owners *really* need to attract some worthwhile businesses — but at this point it will be a tough sell. It’s a good retail location, with traffic from Beachwood and Legacy. However, the interior is tired, dated and eerie.

La Place is a small, upscale, mish mosh of shops and restaurants. It is never busy, so if you are looking for a busy, exciting mall, La Place is not the mall you are looking for. La Place is more of a destination place then anything. Williams-Sonoma, the famously delicious White Flower Cake Shoppe, Mitchell’s Ice Cream, or Ho Wah Restaurant… you will find it all here. The first level consists of empty storefronts, restrooms, and Ho Wah. The second level is where most of the shops are located. The third level mainly consists of various offices and Palmieri Salon and Spa(great manicures there, by the way!). There is almost always parking available, but if you are going there on a Thursday evening, arrive there early because it is Sushi Rock’s half-price sushi night and the lots fill up quick. Mélange and Sushi Rock sometimes offer valet parking. There is also a small parking garage, located next to Sushi Rock. In the summertime, it is great to sit at the tables outside in between Caribou Coffee and Mitchell’s Ice Cream. Sit down, meet your friends, bring your dog, and have some ice cream from one of my favorite ice cream shops in Northeast Ohio. Overall, it’s an okay destination mall, nestled in the hustle and bustle of Cedar Road.

La Place is a nice, small, upscale mall located in Beachwood, right near Beachwood Place. It has a nice selection of businesses, although the selection is very limited. There is only one restaurant at this time, with another one being put in. There is also a Borders, a Mitchell’s Ice Cream Shop, a Caribou Coffee, and a few other retailers, as well as a few offices. The mall itself is very clean and is never too crowded. One complaint of mine is the fact that there are no stairs to the second floor, you have to take the really slow elevator, which, when you really have to go to the bathroom, seems even slower. Overall, if you want to stop in an upscale mall that is small and less crowded than Beachwood Place, stop in at La Place.
