The food is usually pretty good at Floyds. It gets busy on the weekends, and wait times can be long. Service is occasionally poor, but not often enough to keep me from returning. The crab bisque and seafood fondue never disappoint.

The food was very bland and the service was pretty bad also. Actually, the service was horrible. LOL. My wife ordered a desert that was supposed to come with ice cream. When the server brought it out without the ice cream, we mentioned it; and she said the ice cream was extra, and she didn’t know we wanted it. We left, but I called and talked to a manager later. The manager said the desert should have had ice cream and that it wasn’t extra. The server lied to cover her mistake.

Let’s start this out by saying. I’ve never been to Beaumont before, so when my buddy said I’m taking you to a unbelievable restaurant with killer creole seafood, I was absolutely skeptical. Well, no need to be skeptical, as this place is top shelf down home creole. I’ve been to NOLA many times, and Floyds is just as good, if not better. Everybody thinks Floyds is a chain, well that’s not true because they’re not connected to the other’s. I ordered something I’ve never had before, «Seafood Courtbullion», WOW. Great gravy, great texture, great seafood. The waitress was spot on, when she said give it a whirl because it’s her favorite. I also ordered the crab bisque to start, it was rich, creamy and delicious. I don’t understand the bad reviews, but then again, some people think Pappadeaux is creole(Come on Man)…

My last review was over a year ago. Once more, this place has been great for years. Floyd’s has REAL Cajun foods, which can’t be found in my current city of New Orleans. The gumbos & bisques are excellent, approaching home-cooked quality and exceeding anything in New Orleans. Freeway access is difficult entering;leaving is easy. Lots of parking in private lot. If coming from Houston in search of «Cajun», don’t pass-up FLOYD’s ! Pls see my prior reviews. Rick

We heard the food was great at Floyds. We were not impressed. Overcooked food plus bad service.

We stopped by on a recent road trip on Sunday early evening after thanksgiving. We were seated right away and the waiter immediately came over to take our order. We threw everything at him at once — drinks, meals, special request on the kids’ orders — and he did not miss a beat. Great service! We watched as plates of food came out of the kitchen, all looked very good. Since we had been in the car all day, I wondered around with one of the kids and stole glances at tables. Bisque looked very creamy. Gumbo looked very dark. Bread looked yummy. Seafood pasta looked creamy(almost like a bowl of Velveeta!) Kicking myself I didn’t get the stuffed jalapenos. Hamburger was huge. Everything looked to be big servings. Fried fish looked the best. The food came out quickly and was good. Boys had kids burger, kids fried catfish, and lunch portion of fried crawfish tails, which they let us do since that was the only crawfish they had. I had grilled catfish, ocra and hush puppies. Husband had fried catfish and sweet potato fries. We cleared our plates. The cocktail sauce was really good. I usually do not like cocktail. sauce, but I ended up stealing my son’s and ate it with my grilled catfish. Im. assuming it was homemade since it was so good. There was a cream sauce/melted butter on the side of the grilled fish which was good, but not sure I would want it all over the fish so I’m glad they put it on the side. Husband said sweet potato fries were really good, catfish just ok. I stole some bites and thought the fried catfish was good. Kids ate everything and loved the fact there were TVs in every corner so we could all watch the game. The manager was also busy walking around serving the food and helping the waiters, even coming by the table to make sure we had everything a couple of times. Overall a good stop. Glad we came.

Floyds is a large open space Cajun restaurant along the highway in Beaumont. I’m told it’s hard to get a seat for dinner, but we had no trouble for our party of four on a rainy Saturday night. We started off with beers and red table wine while we went through the extensive menu. My standard for Cajun food is Prejeans in Lafayette, so my expectations were modest. However, it all was a pleasant surprise. I had a roué to start with while the others had gumbo. Roué is a distinctive Cajun soup like treat, and this one was superb. My colleagues endorsed the gumbo as well. The main course selections offer everything from entrees to etouffes and salads. If you order your seafood blackened as i did, note that it will also come with a Cajun dressing or etouffe on board. Tell them to leave it off or on the side if that is not your style. The servings are substantial. The desserts are mountainous and include such unusual selections as a pecan cobbler. The server(Brittany) was outstanding, as was the floor manager. The latter gave us a walking tour on request, which included a history of the restaurant. It goes way back to the 1930s and strives to maintain a friendly down home atmosphere. Give it a try if you pass through Beaumont! Here’s the menu:

I was craving gumbo for lunch, which normally would’ve meant Pappadeaux; but considering I’m in Beaumont for meetings and am so close to Louisiana I decided to grab some local fare. Floyd’s had fairly good Unilocal reviews and the lunch menu looked pretty good. I stopped in near the end of the lunch rush and it was pretty empty. I ordered a cup of Gumbo, the Lunch Etoufee with dirty rice, and a Long Island Tea. My waitress was sweet, and attentive. The cocktail was tasty, and the Gumbo stellar; mottled with huge chunks of crab, and generous shrimp. The roux while light, had excellent body. My Etoufee arrived sans dirty rice. I mentioned it to my waitress, who provided the obligatory apology, and corrected the issue. The Etoufee I didn’t care for; it was very blond, and a tad sweet. The dirty rice was a bit wet, but had tremendous flavor and complexity. I enjoyed it a great deal. I can’t say that I’m over the moon about my experience, but I’m certainly willing to give them another go.

Well, after hearing some rave reviews about Floyd’s and seeing all of the cars in the parking lot, I WONDER if people EVER get out and have REALLY good food. The wait — we waited at the bar and literally had to YELL to get 1 of the bartenders attention to get drink refills. — cocktails — hey they aren’t cheap. you’d THINK they’d want to serve us? EXTREMELY Over priced! You are next to the gulf of Mexico and charge THAT much for shrimp! You should be ASHAMED Of yourself! The food was MEDIOCRE at best. The wait staff — neither good nor bad, left no impression. No way jose’ won’t go back. You can go to a classier restaurant with MUCH Better tasting food for less. Sorry. Beaumont peeps.

Pros: Good gumbo, good grilled shrimp, friendly waitress. Cons: Wait even tough there were plenty of open tables, most expensive thing on the menu(snapper ponchatrain) was almost inedible due to the super thick cream sauce it was literally drenched with. Price is too high for quality.

A throw back to 80’s seafood places. The food is fresh and delicious. My favorite us dirty rice with crawfish étouffée. The sweet tea is nice and strong too.

What great food! The crab bisque is quite possibly the best thing I have ever eaten. There was so much crab it left little room for the rice. The fried shrimp were also top notch as well as the service. I would recommend this place to anyone.

I chose floyds cause of the reviews, but it’s not very cozy. It’s very loud and not a comfortable. I don’t think I’ll return, however the waitress was very tentative and honest. The entrees were about 19 – 29 each if you wanted a meal. The food was okay, didn’t look very great presentation wise but okay. I don’t think I’d return.

One of my favorite spots! Hands down THE best hurricane I’ve ever had and the creamy crawfish bisque is unlike anything else. I can’t even order other things on the menu because it’s sooooo amazing. Staff is always polite and prompt! If you’re passing through, don’t this amazing place.

Friendly staff, waitress kept everything up to par, clean restaurant. I ordered the stuffed jalepenos(which was AWESOME) and I had a craving for oysters, so I tried out the Floyd’s oysters and I wasn’t that impress with the meal. To me it seem like they had just threw some cheese on top of the oysters and microwave it(never ordering those ever again). My friend tried the pasta I believe it was called the seafood pasta I can be mistaken but she said it was just«ok» and overpriced. Overall, I will probably come back again because of the stuffed jalepenos and to try other items.

My fiancé had been talking to me for sometime now about how great this place is. It had been years … many many years since he had been here. We decided to take his mom, sister and a friend here for dinner before we headed back out of town. When we arrived I told them there was 5 of us. The hostess quoted me 25 – 30 minutes. I thought that seemed like a long time as there was only one other group waiting ahead of us, but no big deal were here and willing to wait. As we waited more parties came in and they saw the hostess. We sat there and watched several parties that came in after us get sat. These were not small parties either. I have no idea if they had reservations or not either, so no big deal. 30 minutes or maybe longer we were sat. Our waitress was ok. The food overall was a major let down for me. We had the Floyd’s oysters and fried alligator for an appetizer. The alligator was good. The oysters were not cleaned well at all and when I scooped the oyster out of the shell a bunch of grit came with it too. It is not enjoyable to have all that in your mouth as you try to eat an oyster. Also the bread was soggy and not toasted that was on the table. Our entrees came out. I ordered the crawfish étouffée. First I thought it was a little weird the rice was on the side, but no big deal. I then tasted it and it tasted weird to me. I have had plenty of crawfish étouffée and this was just not good. It almost tasted way to peppery or something. Anyway I tried to each just bites of the crawfish but I couldn’t do it. I honestly can’t remember the last time I could not eat a meal because I did not like it. The waitress never noticed that I wasn’t eating my meal. I could have said something but didn’t. My fiancé’s sister ordered the chicken fried chicken and it came with the gravy on the side, which I thought was weird … she did not ask for that. The gravy however was so runny and did not resemble any white gravy I have ever eaten. Everyone else at the table had mixed reviews on the entrees too. Floyd’s is also not cheap. I feel like for the price I paid for 5 people this was a let down on food and service. Anyway — you get the picture. I will likely never eat here again.

While I was in Beaumont, I had at least a dozen people ask«Have you eaten at Floyd’s yet?». It seemed to be hands down everyone’s choice as best restaurant in Beaumont. After a few weeks I was able to eat there on a business lunch. The first thing I noticed was it was extremely busy. We had to wait about 15 minutes which doesn’t seem like much but the place is huge with a ton of tables. Yet on a Wednesday afternoon, there was still a wait. The place looks like a lot of places that I seen out West in terms of décor. Oak everything. Chairs, floors, tables, walls… it all looks the same. We sat down and I just ordered a basic order of jambalaya. This wasn’t a traditional creole or cajun jambalaya like you’d find in Louisiana as has been previously noted but it was really good. The easiest way to describe it is that is was like Jambalaya meets Fajitas. It had the traditional chicken and sausage but also yellow, green and red bell peppers. My co-workers ordered gumbo and a crawfish etoufee. I tasted the etoufee and it didn’t have a whole lot of flavor to me. The gumbo looked a little weak although I didn’t try it. I judge gumbo(sausage and andoille) but the darkness of the roux. The darker the better. The menu was full of all the fried seafood options you’d expect in a neighborhood cajun restaurant. I’ll have to try some of their other items the next time I am in town and I may bump them up a notch.

My coworker and I came here on advice from our hotel and we’re not disappointed. We wanted a non-chain restaurant and this fit the bill. Let me start by saying that you shouldn’t be in a hurry when you come here. It took a full hour from start to finish, but was worth the wait. Our waiter was slow, but very friendly, which made it not so bad. My coworker and I started by sharing a dozen oysters on the half shell and we were quite impressed when it came out. The size was standard, with a couple of large ones, but there were 15! And they were delicious. Tasted very fresh. For my meal, I ordered the 6 grilled shrimp with asparagus and my coworker ordered the chicken Caesar salad. A large basket of garlic bread came while we were waiting. Delicious and more than 2 people should eat. The food was slow, but again, it was worth the wait. My coworkers salad was huge but unfortunately drenched in dressing. My shrimp and asparagus was delicious. Both were perfectly seasoned and it was just the right amount of food. The server was very nice and split the oysters on our bill for us. My only complaint was that the asparagus was $ 1 up charge and the server didn’t tell me before I ordered. A minor annoyance. I liked this place and would go there again.

Once again Unilocal!led me to a great regional restaurant that allowed me to taste some great local food. Floyd’s has a huge parking lot and there’s a reason for that — this place is popular with the locals. Those sitting at the bar were all familiar with the bartenders and staff. And those that weren’t(me) were treated kindly and treated like one of the crew. As someone that travels quite a bit for work and has to eat dinner alone fairly often I appreciated the local charm. I ordered a delicious catch of the day(stuffed with crab meat) that came with delicious sides of hush puppies and dirty rice. All seasoned and prepared beautifully. I was also given some sort of delicious bread that was coated with butter and garlic. Yeah, I could barely move after dinner but boy was it good. If you’re in the Beaumont or Port Arthur TX area and want a local experience and some good food I strongly recommend Floyd’s.
