I’ve been searching for a good eye doctor since I moved to the area 8 years ago. They were all flops so far, until I came to Sunset Eye Clinic. Ignore the smell of sour/mold somethin’ somethin’ going on in their lobby(as much you can), at least they try to cover it up with an air freshener? But hey SEC, you should probably look into it, it’s like you left your wet walls in the washing machine for a few days!!! Anyway, paperwork is short and appointments are prompt. The facility seemed very clean, and Dr. Lydia was wonderful. She was very nice, explained everything that needed to be and answered all questions. They take a color fundus photo of your eye so that you can see the back of your own eye(optic nerve, macula, fovea, and vasculature), pretty cool and something most clinics don’t include in your average appt. My contact fitting went well. I told her how rusty I was at putting them in, rusty is right I couldn’t even get them at all. She helped me get them in, and didn’t push me when I told her I didn’t want to practice there, I’d do it at home. I came back a week later for a check to make sure they’re fitting great, and they are. I ordered contacts with them(this took about 5 minutes) and I was on my way! I have great insurance so I can’t make a claim on the affordability, all of my service and contacts were covered. So I can only say that I enjoyed my first and second visit, the staff were welcoming, prompt, polite, and overall it was a good experience.

These guys are amazing, they were helpful, informative, affordable and timely. Got my glasses in a week. They stayed open later so i could grab them due to my work schedule and i needed them. Amazing.

So as you may have read from my previous review from a year or so ago I was pretty unhappy. I figured I would state my opinion clearly with my review and move on with my life. Quite a few months later after my experience I received an email from the new manager of the clinic stating that she wanted to speak with me about my experience with them and see what she could do to make amends for the poor service. I sat on the email for a month or so because I really didn’t know if I wanted to deal with it again or not. I eventually emailed back and decided I would be willing to hear them out as I was obviously willing to leave a bad review and if they are willing to make it right I should give them the opportunity. Over the course of the last two or three months(I have a full schedule AND live in Gresham now) things have gone swimmingly. I came in for my appointment and was met promptly and my appointment started. Met with everyone in the office and they were friendly as usual and apologetic about my previous experience. I was examined for my current prescription, fitted for contact lenses, and they discussed at length on how to care for my lenses, my contact case, and why they last or dont last a long time based on each persons eyes. I was again apologised to and we looked at frames. I picked out a pair I liked, but didn’t like the color so Jessica ordered three other colors to see which ones I would like. They gave me two pairs of contact lenses, a bunch of solutions to try out, and said they would call me when my frames came in. When the frames came in they called me and emailed me to let me know, I swung by to check them out and picked out the pair I wanted. They offered me lenses for my sunglasses frames and I left them with the clinic. I have not picked up my glasses yet from the clinic, but I am confident I will be pleased. They have impressed me with their service and willingness to go above and beyond to make an unhappy customer feel like they just won a trip to Disneyland. Everything I have recieved from them thus far has been at no charge to me. The only complaint I have is that more businesses out there don’t adopt a policy of trying to make bad experiences into great experiences. Its been a hard year for me and my family and their generosity has gone a long way to making a really bad section of this year have a smiley face sticker on it. You made a never again customer into a never gonna leave customer.

I guess to each is own based on the previous comment, but I received great service from everyone that works in the office. Dr. Lee was very helpful in explaining the importance of taking care of my contacts– cleaning them, etc., and figuring out which ones to use. When I came into the building, I was greeted and seen right away. The technology in the office is phenomenal. I have never been to an optometrist where they are able to take a picture of the back of my eye. I thought that was really neat. The location is convenient and they seem to have a variety of glasses to choose from. In terms of insurance and what not, they told me what was covered and what my coverage was before I went in and before any testing was conducted. I would recommend this place over any others because based on my previous experiences… this was a 5⁄5 appointment.
