I am not saying that there was excessive noise! I am saying that the walls/ceilings must be paper thin. We could hear the man in the room above us YAWNING. Desk staff was pleasant, patient, and helpful. We did not ask to change rooms because it was clear that any other room would have the same problem with noise, plus we were unpacked and tired. We got very little sleep as when the people in the room above us simply walked across the floor — normal movement from bed to bathroom and back, it felt like our room was shaking! It was seriously unbelievable that a hotel in this century would have such poor construction that normal noises would carry from one room to the next. Beautiful on the outside, worn inside — and then there’s the NOISE issue! I would avoid staying there again. We’d stayed in a Wyndham 3 weeks previously, and it was quite nice — I gave it a good review. We assumed another Wyndham property would be equivalent — but it was the extreme opposite from the first one.

For about $ 60 a night, this Microtel certainly is a welcome sight for weary Interstate travelers like us. Not too far off 77, and right off of 64, this hotel is a real slam-dunk as far as economy hotels are concerned. Even though it’s close to the Interstates, there is no traffic noise. It’s quiet, it smells and looks clean, and the amenities are a nice touch; I was expecting just bagels and coffee for the breakfast, but waffles, sausage, eggs, etc. were a pleasant surprise. We reserved the queen room, and this was where the«micro» in «Microtel» became evident. The room was much, much smaller than most hotel/motel rooms, but for one night, who really cares?

Worst hotel I have ever stayed in. Got off the elevator and it smelled like cigs(in non smoking hotel). Our room is tiny and when the very loud AC kicks on, it reeks of bug spray and mildew. I’m sick to my stomach and feel awful that my kids are breathing this crap in all night. The bed is the most uncomfortable bed I have slept on in a long time and the pillows are just pointless. The walls of the rooms are paper thin and our neighbors felt the need to make me aware that my kids needed to go to bed. An obnoxious fire alarm sounding noise started blaring in the hallway at 8am and that was the kicker. I can’t wait to get out of here.

Very nice. Our room was spotlessly clean. The staff was friendly and helpful. We felt the parking lot was safe and secure. We will be seeking out other locations if we have another chance to travel.

Pleasantly surprised! We got a nice low rate and were sort of worried about what we would end up with. It is incredibly clean and the staff is very nice. Just a few miles from some reasonably prices food options and right off of 64.

This place is great, our car broke down and Teddy the manager was more the awesome, he gave us the greatest rate and let us checkout until our car was finished. Good people are a rarity these days.

We travelled to Beckley and this Microtel for a family reunion June 20 – 23. Our problems started when we checked in. We were supposed to have 3 rooms, but they told us there were only 2 reserved. That’s when we noticed the note behind the counter that read«Attention Front Desk Staff: Don’t sell any more rooms for June 21st. We are 20 rooms overbooked!!» Just about everyone in our family that booked more than one room suddenly discovered they didn’t have their extra rooms available. For those coming in late, they just didn’t have any rooms at all and made up BS excuses(I’m sorry, your Credit Card was denied). The Front Desk Manager, Bree, was rude and un-helpful. At one point, people from a bus trip came in and were given keys to a family member’s room. There was a 14 year old girl and 10 year old boy sleeping in the room. She called the room and told the 14 year old she had to get out. Her father went to the front desk and asked for an explanation. Bree got upset and called him a Redneck and made it seem like it was his fault that he was in the room, even though they gave him the keys earlier. All in all, it truly marred our reunion and I’m sure we’ll never use that hotel again. While some of the staff were great(Thanks April, Missy, and Britney), the overbooking and the rudeness of Bree made this hotel stay fairly miserable. Don’t go here!
