Great service! I have had my hair cut by Melissa for probably 3 – 4 years. She is very easy to work with and I trust her, which is one thing you really want with a stylist. My cut is pretty basic and I have shorter hair, but I’m sure she does more fancy styling with no problems at all. Once or more I’ve scheduled a cut, walked in and she has said… I don’t think you really need one. What stylist tells you that? I appreciate her honesty. With short hair sometimes I just need the back cleaned up.
This is a really easy and convenient place to get a haircut. It is across from the waffle house on Emerson, close to 465. There is plenty of parking.
They also do nails.

Jennae was great with my daughter who is 8 years old. She listened to what I wanted and did what I asked for. I am going back in the same week for a color appointment.

I got a great cut by Jennae. She really took the time to listen to what I wanted with my style and delivered flawlessly. I also got my eyebrows and lip waxed, which I usually dread because of the pain, but this was the most comfortable waxing I’ve ever received! Cheers to good wax and a great haircut! Also, the price was a good deal. Walked out very happy.

Hair is tricky. I feel my entire hair experience in life has been either playing scissors roulette with a $ 5 – 10 great clips (most often losing), or walking away from a salon with happy hair but an extremely unhappy wallet. Today was my first visit with Jennae Schenk and let me just tell you– I’m done with both of those games. I was SO pleased with the quality of her work. Jennae has been doing hair for 14 years and she’s good. The prices were reasonable (especially if you use the Unilocal special that has been going on!), the salon was comfortable, it didn’t smell strongly of chemicals, and she listens very well to exactly what the customer wants. They just started doing nails too!

It is advertised that they open at ten and walk-​ins welcome; I drove over there at quarter to eleven to find an empty parking lot and a closed sign in the window. It might seem irrational that I be so upset by this, but after the slew of terrible experiences I’ve had at every stylist I’ve tried in the south-​side area, I was just so disappointed that I can’t ever seem to get the five star treatment in the reviews.

Jennae Schenk has been doing my hair and does a great job. All the ladies in the salon are super friendly, and you couldn’t ask for a better location. I agree that this is a jem in Beech Grove.

I have to agree that Elegant Hair Designs is truly a gem on the south side! I called after reading Unilocal reviews and got an appointment within the hour with Jenna. I couldn’t be any more satisfied with the service and care that Jenna provided! She was very professional and knowledgeable, taking her time to make sure that her work was perfect and to my satisfaction. My haircut is fabulous and I am grateful! Elegant Hair Designs also provides waxing services, which I find very convenient. Best of all, the prices are extremely reasonable and a welcome break from all the overpriced spas that dominate the south side when it comes to hair care. I would highly recommend Jenna and this salon!

Jenna is AMAZING. She took almost three hours with me giving me a new cut & biolage hair color… Mommy makeover! You can tell she is a perfectionist at her craft and super talented. I would highly recommend this little hidden gem in beech grove. Will certainly be back to see her again for my next color/​cut!

I knew booking Elegant Hair Designs would not be a decision I regretted from all the pictures they had posted, but they totally blew me away with each up-​do! Mine was amazing and I loved every single bridesmaid and mom as well. Jennae and Jenna were fantastic! Their price is superb as well. They were both friendly and chatty with all the ladies while we got ready. Everyone seemed pleased with their hair. My trial went really well with Jennae and it was even more stunning on the day of. These ladies know what they are doing! For my trial, I went to their new salon which is very nice! I had a small difficulty finding it but now they have a big sign so it should be no problem!
