Walmart Supercenter

I don’t expect much from Walmart but the Belen store is particularly bad. There is no customer service the only service is bad service. Store is frequently in disarray. Many cashier’s are unfriendly and withdrawn. Half the items are not priced, and if you are familiar with Walmart you know the price check scanners throughout the store work poorly or not at all. I went once with my wife to get some tomato cages it was about ten till seven. Manager was guarding the entrance to the outside section, told me they were getting ready to close and asked what I needed. I told him and he said they didn’t have that. Which would of been fine except I could see them behind him. I told him as much and he insisted they didn’t have them. So I said «well your not closed yet right?» and ducked under his outstretched arm and got what I needed in less than ten seconds. On another lovely occasion my wife came to send a money order, they had two prices posted my wife asked for clarification. Clerk pointed at the sign, my wife said «I can see the sign, but there are two different prices, I’d like to know which one is right. «Clerk huffed and said something like I’m not sure but we’ll find out when we process. This didn’t satisfy my wife and she asked to see a manager. Clerk said fine no need to be a bitch. Same manager from the previous encounter came out and explained they don’t know the price until they process (really?) When my wife complained on how she was treated by the clerk and called names the manager told her if she didn’t like it to go somewhere else. Which is difficult in Belen. But we avoid this site as much as possible doing the bulk of it shopping in Albuquerque.

It is nice to have a full service WalMart in Belen. There isn’t really a grocery store, other than mom and pops in Belen. So, this is a welcome addition.
It is clean and well organized. I had good help from the staff as we were looking for different items.
They also stock some interesting foods that I don’t see elsewhere — like a tres leches cake mix and a pecan bar mix. Fun to find!
Walmarts in general (and this one for sure) are helpful for holiday shopping. There were plenty of things to get you ready for Halloween. And they had some great displays with everything you could want for holiday baking all in one place. Yay!
