Great experience with large quantity needed for a project. Julia was so nice and patient. She directed us to a section with a larger selection of fabric. Very nice. Thank you Julia you made my day.

Eh. I got what I wanted. There’s a huge selection of fabrics. The customer service isn’t THAT bad. I managed to tell the employee what I wanted and there weren’t any troubles. The only problem I could see is that there aren’t that many employees, so you’ll probably have to walk around aimlessly for a while until he/she is free, hahah.

Not bad for selection and price, but the customer service is horrible. The employees are rude, unhelpful and seem to care less about you as a customer. They are always short staffed. Several times I’ve been in a line of people with no one at the fabric cutting station and no one at the front checkout register. When it has been my turn the employee doesn’t talk or interact with me and slowly does the job. Once when looking for some help I found someone(without any badge or indication they worked there) and before I finished asking if she worked there, she interrupted me and gruffly said, «I’ll be there in a minute.» I thought it might be a one-off experience but it is consistent. Therefore I am not going back.

Wow. My wife, who works retail herself, just went to this store to get ribbon. Ribbon — that’s it. She walks into the store and asks an employee where the ribbon is at. «Somewhere in the back,» says the employee, waving dismissively before returning to work. So my wife, exploring the store to find ribbon, comes across a pregnant lady holding a child that’s not even a toddler yet. There are few carts in the store, apparently, and they are all being used by employees to schlep around inventory. One has nothing but a large, empty box in it. My wife turns to the nearest employee and says,“There’s a pregnant lady over her who could really use a cart to put her child in while she shops. Can we free up one of these carts for her?“ The employee replies,“Uh, no. Aren’t there carts at the front of the store?“ After my wife finds the ribbon, she goes to check out, where two people have been standing at an unattended register for ten minutes. My wife had to chastise one of the store’s lazy employees, who was standing less than ten feet away, to call someone to the front of the store to check her and the other customers out. She summed up the experience as the worst customer service experience she has ever had, going so far as to say that it was even inferior to the standard level of customer service at WalMart.

I think I prefer a Joanns slightly to this. It’s nice because it’s convenient. On the night before Halloween, this place was crazy. This gay guy was having a melt down trying to buy green fabric. To his credit, there weren’t dedicated fabric cutters, and so the staff on hand was running around helping everyone except the 6-person long fabric cutting line. It’s fine to grab something quick or convenient. If I were really to go shopping, I’d still find a Joanns. I might even make the drive all the way down to Sugarland’s.

As a gay man, you’d think this would be a stereotypical«home away from home» for me. But, you’d be oh so wrong. I had to find some fabric for an event last week. What kind of fabric? Guess from the following: A. Some chiffon to bedazzle for some layered faux Cher diva look. B. Some silk to create a débutante-worthy dress for a gal pal. C. Some basic fabric to create an impromptu curtain for a half-window at the office. The answer is «C». We had an open house and I need to hide the junk in the only spare area we have but it happens to have a glass window that needs veiling. Since I had to try out fabric stores, I figured I’d check this one out. Though it is in a bit of a rough area, it is very clean, brand new, with actually friendly employees who greeted me at the door as well as helped measure out the fabric once I picked it out(3.125 yards of basic black at $ 3.95/yard). They might have been extra friendly since I was the only man there, too. But, I didn’t take a poll since I’m a total noob as far as fabric and sewing go and I was focused on avoiding a fabric faux pas. They have a bewildering array of buttons, patterns, and fabric. To translate this into«Straight Boy Talk», they are the Best Buy of fabric. * Okay, I’m going to admit that I picked out this store since, as a gay man, I couldn’t resist the cock. As in Han-cock Fabrics. Better than the JO of Jo-Ann’s Fabrics. Too much ghey? Avert your eyes.
