Walked in to a battleship grey paint scheme. Drab is not a good sign of things to come. Clerk was friendly. Interesting combos on the menu. Ordered mac and cheese wedges, got corn. Ordered an sandwich, came with hard, warmed over chicken sticks. Not too fresh. Not going back. Too many other great sandwich spots around for my money.

The Mac and cheese bites, broccoli and cheese bites, and corn bites are delicious. Also the buffalo chicken tenders are the perfect amount of crispy. Every time I order deliver, it arrives fast and very hot.

Came here on rainy day and was super excited to try this after the great reviews. I never had grease truck so I thought of trying this since its nearby. The place was empty when my boyfriend and I ordered. I ordered the fat mitchell, the boyfriend had a fat jaxon and we had a side order of cheddar jalapeño poppers. I was expecting the place to get busy but it didnt. I also expected to have more sauce in the sandwiches but there wasn’t. It was extremely filling and my boyfriend and I hated ourselves after finishing it. The jalapeño poppers were good and cheesy. After we finished eating, we realized it was too much food. I would go back to try other sandwiches but would ask for more cheese.

Great when you are craving something totally unhealthy to clog your arteries. Loved all of the offerings. Had to wait a little bit for the food to be made, but it was worth it.

Excellent, fun treat food! My sandwich was on an extremely fresh roll(more like a loaf of bread… it’s a big sandwich) and the lettuce and tomato were surprisingly crisp and firm(respectively) for a place that is pretty anti-salad! The corn bites are a must if you love corn… fried breaded coating with creamed corn inside. The fries were nice, but very over-salted(and I like salty)! I will request«easy on the salt» next time. Everything else was perfect. Delivery was lightning fast and the food was hot and fresh when it arrived.

I never had the honor of visiting the infamous fat sandwiches from the grease trucks at Rutgers. Luckily, my sister would bring some back on weekends she visited home. So when I heard of this place I was naturally very excited. Walked in and noticed the dollar bills all along the wall, along with 90s hip hop playing over the speaker, cool laid-back vibe. They hand me the sandwich with some plastic gloves to eat it with, what a cool gesture I thought. Unfortunately, the sandwich didn’t entice a messy chowdown session. I went with the Fat Betty White and despite the promising ingredients, it turned out to be very dry and bland. The proportions weren’t to my satisfaction and the meal didn’t get me the slightest bit full. I didn’t even need the gloves and the zyro foam container wasn’t splattered with grease or sauce. That’s not very fat sandwichy if you ask me.

The excitement of knowing there’s fat cats 10 min away went down the drain the instant I bit in the sandwich. I didn’t like the bread at all. It wasn’t fresh and it wasn’t tasty. I honestly give it 1.5 stars because I thought the mozzarella sticks were ok but other than that it was so not worth the calories. When I have a fat cat I want the calories to be worth it, this was so disappointing.

Really amazing fat sandwiches! Their sides aren’t top-notch, but one fat sandwich is usually more than enough for me. Their delivery is pretty fast and always friendly! Edit: Nov 2015. Used to love the quality of this place, but their quality in terms of sauce quantity has been severely lacking in the past three orders. I have to request extra sauce… And when I do, it still isn’t enough to adequately moisten the food. I am going to provide a picture of my last delivery.

Horrible horrible horrible service. Order food through Grubhub, they messed up my order. When I called and told them«Hey you forgot part of my order». They basically said screw you and didn’t even refund me back my money.

Sandwiches based off the infamous Rutgers Grease Trucks Fat Sandwiches. Unfortunately, they seemingly go out of the way to make sure they have none of the standard Grease Truck combinations that made them famous. The entire menu also lacks any lettuce and tomato. Yes, I do love my greasy goodness. However, for me the lettuce and tomato are the things that allow me to enjoy the entire sandwich. I’m also not a fan of the packaging. The original Grease Trucks wrap their sandwiches in paper first then foil. This creates a «homogeneous» type marriage of all the ingredients. Basically the entire sandwich comes together as one. Fat house sandwiches just kind of lay there in the polystyrene package. Yes, you can roll it up together yourself, but why should you have to? I appreciate that someone decided to create a restaurant for Northern NJ people to enjoy fat sandwiches. However, the execution just isn’t there. That’s not to say they can improve on what they do, but as of right now Fat House won’t serve as an acceptable substitute.

OK after reading so many reviews about how good the food is had to try it. Well I did, I ordered the fat Chappelle and the mac n cheese wedges it was OK nothing to write home about. Maybe cause they were a little busy. But my burger was like on the very well done side and the sandwich was on the dry side. If it was for this I would have enjoyed it and maybe even phoned a friend Now for the mac n cheese wedges for a frozen item not bad. I’ll eat here again some time down the road

Ordered takeout and had the Fat Elven. Wasn’t a fan of the bread, it was kind of dry and overpowering. However, I enjoyed everything in between. And we found out when we got home that they gave us the wrong side order. It was good, nonetheless. Especially liked the corn bites. I would come back just to see if maybe I came in on an off day.

Honestly, this place was not what I expected. Seems as if they are basically frying or microwaving frozen food and stuffing it into a sandwich. & my sandwich was very very dry. It seems they only throw the sauce on the very top rather then also inside the sandwich which leaves the middle and opposite side still very dry. I have had the grease truck sandwiches from Rutgers and so with that being said I was expecting a lot coming here. I guess nothing actually will ever compare to those damn grease trucks.

VExtremely innovative newcomer to the NJ sandwich shop scene pushes the limits of what you define as a sandwich with unbelievable combinations of quality ingredients packed with superb flavor. I took the advice of 26+ reviews and almost 5 stars and set the GPS to Fat House while gassing up in Belleville. When I saw the photos I was in disbelief of the combinations, thought maybe it was just a handful of offerings like these on the menu, but no, EVERY menu item is like a man vs food episode. Reminds me of the Brazilian sandwiches at Das Horas in Newark with the multiple ingredients but with a stoned on a Sunday twist. I opted for the Fat Rocco: Hamburger, steak, fried, onion rings, BBQ and A1 sauce. The flavor combo was fantastic, the roll, super soft, the steak and hamburger were lean and tasty, the addition of fries and onion rings with the two sauces just kicked it in to high gear: this sadwich made my mouth want to smile ear to ear. I also tried their mac and cheese wedges with the nacho dipping sauce, these were the best I have ever had; my second in fact, the first ones I had were so lackluster that I almost never considered ordering any until now, and I am so glad I did, these guys make incredible food… I definitely will return. These youthful innovative sandwich crafters stand out in a sea of same-ness.

Im torn about this place. Ive had many fat sandwhiches in my day. They are an amazing way to eat terrible, fattening food. However, there arent many options here for non-meat eaters BUT you can add and subtract things which i really dig because alot of places dont like when you mess with their menu. The fat Tokki was good but the buffalo sauce was too tangy. I also think they need to add more onion tings to this sandwhich and drown that shit in the white sauce. The bread is perfect tho. Its not too hard or soft and held in all my goodies.(i didnt get the gyro or chicken) The mac n cheese bites are on point. They need to put these on sandwhiches! they were perfectly fried on the outside and gooey on the inside, im tellin ya they need to add this to a sandwhich. I also think falafel balls would be great for a sandwhich, especially the one i had. dont think about eating here — absolutely no SEATS! theyre chocolate crème soda was good but deff an aquired taste.

Delicious! Extremely fast delivery and great customer service. Best fat sandwich I’ve ever had! You have to try the Mac & cheese wedges too, they’re phenomenal. I can’t wait to order again.

As soon as heard there was a fat sandwich nearby, I was on my way! The sandwiches are better than I anticipated and reasonably price. I cld see coming back here more often, especially on those hungry nights. For $ 7 you get a LARGE sandwich– larger than your belly can for. They have about 15 – 20 different sandwiches and you can’t go wrong w the FATDAT

Hello Fat House Sandwiches. I love you. You first caught my eye as I was driving on Washington Ave. A small unassuming place, with the words ‘FATHOUSE’ emblazoned on the sign. I DON’T KNOWWHATTHISIS, BUT I’M GAME, I thought. I finally decided to order from here. You guys trekked out in the snow to deliver me your yummy goodness. Everyone over the phone was polite and friendly. My order was correct and delivered fast. You even included plastic gloves so I wouldn’t get messy. Amazing! I’ve yet to try any appetizers, but the Fat J-Lo was perfection. I’d kiss the owners on the forehead, but that would be weird. So a fantastic Unilocal review will have to suffice. The only thing I would change is that you’re super close to my gym. BUT I DON’T EVENCARE.

Finally a fat sandwich spot in the North that is easy to drive to instead of going all the way down in New Brunswick to wait in front of a food truck in back of hungry college students… you can now wait inside. They go everything against my fake raw diet of green vegetables and fruit, but it’s worth it. If you want mozzarella sticks in your sandwich then they will do it for you! If you want nacho cheese sauce in your sandwich with chicken tenders they will do it for you! And they have the classic must french fries in every sandwich. Their list of sandwiches are bigger than the fat sandwiches down at RU and also have sides as well such as Fried Mac n Cheese and corn bites, which are also deep fried. Open late on weekends which is dangerous as their business can only fit probably 20 people inside and may not handle all the drunk people who stumble upon looking for a Fat Elvin. The sandwiches are good but definitely one of those places for me where I have to say to myself, «I’m hungry and I do not give a sh*t about my waistline.»

I can now get«Fat Sandwiches» in less than 5 minutes driving from my house?!? Oh man. This isn’t good for my health, but great for my stomach! «Fat House» lives up to its name. The place specializes in fat sandwiches and fat fries. They are all priced between $ 6.50 to $ 8.00 and the sandwiches are a great size and good bang for your buck. They have around 10 sandwiches on their menu which have various combinations of chicken fingers, steak, mozzarella sticks, hamburger, onion rings, gyro, and hot dogs. In addition, these sandwiches have various sauces on them such as honey mustard, marinara, BBQ, hot, nacho cheese, thousand island, and white. Some of my favorites sandwiches are the following(I haven’t tried them all yet): Fat Elven(Named after one of the founders) — Chicken Fingers, Mozzarella Sticks, Onion Rings, French Fries, with Honey Mustard [*Sandwich named after one of the founders] Fat Rocky — Steak, Fries, with Nacho Cheese Fat Dat — Steak, Chicken Fingers, Mozzarella Sticks, French Fries, with Marinara Sauce [*Sandwich named after one of the founders] Also, I’d like to note that you can substitute or add more fix-ins to the sandwiches as well for different prices so do not feel you are tied down to get a specific, premade sandwich. Other than sandwiches, you can order chicken tenders or chicken wings on the side with different sauces. Furthermore, they have some side orders you can buy which include mostly fix-ins in their sandwiches like french fries, onion rings, and mozzarella sticks. My personal favorite side here are the Mac & Cheese Wedges! They also have a small selections of drinks here as well. The place itself is pretty small and there is just one table inside that most people would use to sit when waiting for their food. I would like to think of this place as a food truck, but at a fixed location. Finally, you cannot go wrong with their late hours(open till 3am Fri. and Sat.). This is one place I feel I can stop by after a late night for some quick(yet really unhealthy) eats without the typical fast food or diner food. FYI: Their Website page is just on Facebook:
