I spotted this place along the road as I was slowly moving in traffic, and decided to make a u — turn to check it out. If anything, at least I’d kill some time and let traffic die down a bit. What a hidden gem! There is a u — pick blueberry area and it happend to be blueberry season! As a non-northwesterner, I had never seen a blueberry bush, so this was exciting in itself! This may be a common thing, I’m not sure, but this was my first experience and it was great! You have the option to temporarily trade your drivers license for a picking bucket and trek over to the fields and spend some time picking blueberries for a discounted rate or you can buy the prepicked berries at a little bit higher price per pound. I ended up purchasing prepicked bluberries, for sake of time but enjoyed the whole experience regardless. Fresh blueberries are SOOO good! I ate the few packs I purchased that day and made another trip back to buy more before I left Seattle! Store bought blueberries will never be the same. I should note the fruit stand also sells various other produce items. I snagged a jar of honey that I’ve been slowly enjoying at home! Can’t wait until blueberry season again!

Two bags of mostly local and organic fruits and veggies for $ 25?! I’ve walked out of Wholefoods with less than a handful of produce for more than that! It’s true some of their produce seems to be less fresh than the picture perfect stands in Wholefoods, but if you’ve ever shopped outside of the US, you know this is how real food markets are supposed to look(instead of wasting slightly blemished but perfectly fine to eat food). How I wish we discovered this gem earlier!

$ 1.50/lb for fresh organic blueberries. That should be enough for this review, but this spot is not only awesome for the deal and the quality, but it’s a fun outing for date nights, saturday morning hangout with the family, or just a fun way to go buy your fruits. I’ve never picked blueberries before so it was a win altogether. Spent about 30 minutes picking 2 lbs with my wife and we ended up checking out for $ 3.01. Pretty nice. Go check it out!!!

While trying to find out where and which hike to start at the Mercer slough, I discovered this Caribbean-blue colored cottage full of colorful veggies and fruits. The season call for apples of all types and since I am a visitor, I could not resist to try out one of those very big, crunchy and super fresh Pacific Rose variety. It is always so exciting to try something new! I loved it(even if a dollar and ten for an apple is not what I was expecting. Everything there looked like just picked from the trees or bushes, and the ensemble offers a very nice ‘photo opportunity’ scenario for the visitors who want to get some colorful eco-friendly memories. It is also very practical to get some fruits if you plan to do one of the many hikes available at the Mercer slough, in case you forgot your snacks.

We stopped by to pick our own blueberries last week. We picked up buckets at the counter then headed out back to the rows of blueberry bushes to harvest. By this late in the season, many of the bushes were fully picked, but there were still blueberries remaining in the bushes further down. At $ 1.50/lb, we were able to buy far more blueberries than you’d get at the market for a fraction of the price. Can’t get more local than picking it yourself.

Was driving by and saw a sign for pick-your-own-blueberries, slammed on the breaks and turned in. How is it possible that I had never seen a blueberry bush or ever done any blueberry harvesting? Shocking I KNOW. For the next hour I was up to my neck in densely packed bushes fighting off angry mosquitoes. Eventually exhausted, I took my bucket of berries back to the produce stand to survey the financial damage… $ 2.50. Yep two larges boxes worth of hand-picked organic blueberries for just over 2 bucks and this doesn’t even count all the berries I «sampled» along the way(for quality control purposes only, of course).

We went there for the U-Pick blueberries. They had it at $ 1.50 a pound. Great deal! We wished we had gotten more! The rest of the produce for sale there was hit or miss, in my opinion. There were some vegetables that looked pretty good. But there were also some fruit that looked like it needed to be thrown out. We will definitely be returning to pick more blueberries though!
