Neal’s Barber Shop

Wow! I am so glad my boyfriend mentioned for my son to get his hair cut at Neal’s. Unfortunately, he will only be there until the end of Oct 2105 because the owner is increasing the rent and he is unable to keep up with the cost :((. He was wonderful to talk to and my son said that was the best cut he ever had.
We tried Fantasy Hair & Nail-​off of Lakewood and my son didn’t like how she did it the last time and that she was rough pressing on his skin when she did his fade (he went there 3times). and my 8 year old has been getting his hair cut at various places since he was 3. This place is a gem and even though my son got a simple cut-​nothing too crazy, he wants to see «Grandpa Neal» again before he leaves.
I had to write a review to share my experience to have others in the area give him a try!

Finally found the real American quality barbershop service! There’s not many places left with this quality of service and old school environment. Great place for a quality service, not to mention the reasonable price. Love this place and I highly recommend to anyone that’s looking for a great barbershop! 5 start quality service and excellent environment

Neal is the consummate barber. Old school if you will. He’s there Tue. thru Sat., rain or shine for over 50 years! He’s a one man operation these days, so it may take a bit of waiting your turn, but like Floyd’s was to Mayberry Neal’s is to L.A. Most people wait their turn patiently and enjoy the barbershop scuttlebutt. And in return they know to expect an expert haircut from the best barber in town! I think the reason no one reviews Neal’s here on Unilocal is that they don’t want to give up their secret oasis!

Love Neal’s. My husband has been coming here for too many years to remember. My dad came here and when he was too sick to come in, Neal came to his house and gave him his haircuts. He has done the same for my brother in his time of need. Neal is a special kind of guy. I am like the other guy on here, can’t believe no one is writing reviews. Haircuts always good. Best place in town. I don’t go to Neal, but family members do and I have talked to Neal. He’s a great guy.

I can’t believe that there are no other reviews for Neal’s on here… He has been servicing the area for 50 years…
Anyway, I first came to Neal’s in 1996 after moving to Paramount from South L.A. and needed a good barber for my hair. Neal’s was right around the block and I stopped on in. Back then, there were three guys working the place, Neal included, and all three were the best barbers I had ever seen.
Nowadays, only Neal remains at the location, and that is the only reason why he doesn’t get 5 stars, because with only him working the chairs, there can be a big wait if you go at the wrong time. Still, waiting for Neal is worth it. I mean, it has to be worth it if I am willing to drive from Long Beach to Bellflower for a haircut. Add to the fact that Neal is the only person who I trust around me with a straight razor, of which I have a slight phobia for, and that has got to tell you how good I think he is.
But I am loyal to people who do me right, and I will continue to go back to Neal’s every time I need my hair cut. Hell, Neal even gave my oldest son his first hair cut, and I can’t wait until my youngest son’s hair is long enough to take him there for his as well.
Neal is one of the nicest and most professional guys I have ever been around, and me and my boys love going to his place for our needs.
