Even Dora the Explorer on crack couldn’t find Taqueria Dora. Why? Because it doesn’t exist. The place is actually called Taqueria Dorado. Places with wrong names are a real occurence out here in the uncharted regions of South East Los Angeles ladies and gentlemen. Here’s a review for Taqueria Dorado just in case you stumble into this one. I came into Taqueria Dorado hoping I would make the find of the century. I kind of did. Well sort of. You see out here in the uncharted regions of South East Los Angeles there aren’t that many Unilocalers, at least passionate ones, and well, some really good places go forever unnoticed regardless of how good they are. Taqueria Dorado is kind of an example of this. They sell better fish tacos than at really popular East Los Angeles places yet they have less than five reviews counting the reviews for Taqueria Dorado(which has an incorrect address) and Taqueria Dora(haha which has an incorrect name)…ugh. Do your Unilocal homework people… please! Taqueria Dorado truly is a hole in the wall. So much so, that as you walk in you get giddy with the notion you may just have found the find of the century! When I was here, most customers were taking the food out. It’s that much of a hole in the wall. This taqueria specializes in fish tacos which they assure you are Ensenada style. Two fish tacos and a sangria cost me just under $ 6! The fish tacos are the usual small tacos but they heaped on the fish. I couldn’t eat them as tacos. They were more like soft tostadas(haha) since they didn’t close right — but that’s a good thing! The fish itself isn’t as well seasoned as I have had elsewhere but it is tasty nevertheless. It isn’t greasy either. They top it with shredded cabbage and sour cream. They also sell natural watermelon water which is pretty good! Parking is a breeze since this place is located in a medium sized strip mall.

Okay lets start off by saying, the location of this place is easily over looked, from the outside. I litterally probably have passed this place a hundred times without even noticing it, but once you go inside, theres beautiful vibrant colours on the walls, its very clean and quaint atmosphere that make for a very plesant little taqueria experience. Now they have a really extensive menu, much more than what i would have thought and its placed above the counter with really cool detailed giant pictures of great looking meals. But on this occassion i was just in the mood for some tacos de camaron, which were absolutely delicious… i’m gonna have to say they give Taco Nazo *which i’m a fan of* a real run for their money, and for about a third of the price. Its something about the sauce they use, freak’n finger licking good, and I was satisfied with just two. Just full enough to enjoy and still have the feeling of being able to be active. They have a fresh salsa bar but what really caught me was the fresh melon juice… so good. I’m definately gonna come back and chip away at that gnarly menu they have. All in all its an authentic Ensenada estillo Taqueria that serves up a little taste of love. Oh and i do have to mention that they have 99c Tacos de Pescado on Wednesdays. So grab all that change in your sofa, all the pennies in your sock drawer, all that loose change you find in your pants while doing laundry and get yourself some damn good shrimp tacos… your tummy will thank you.
