20th Century Bowling

You can bowl, drink, and have a great burger. This place is a classic joint in town. It’s a good experience all around.

Lanes are the best (synthetic). Food is fantastic (Century Burger — add bacon, which is smart). Staff is awesome (it’s like Cheers — everybody will know your name). Come down, stay cool, and roll!

Lanes are only a couple years old. Scoring computers are only a couple years old. All newer than the other houses in Whatcom or Skagit counties. Good food, staff is pretty awesome with a low turnover rate. Love this place.

Came in and was told that, in a little over an hour, there was going to be a league coming in and they would be using all the lanes. I thought «Okay, a game takes no more than 30 minutes; we will have plenty of time for a game, maybe even two». They told me I would have to wait while they «cleaned» our lane and I thought «Okay, why aren’t they clean already? Why don’t they do that after closing or before opening?» but I was completely okay with it. I’d rather wait and have a perfect lane than a
dirty or poorly polished one. He asked for our shoe sizes, and we got our shoes. I put my shoes on, as did the person I came with.
So I waited while the gentlemen slowly cleaned my lane, the next lane, and the next lane (probably for the league). I couldn’t start bowling because the cord for his machine was still in my way, so I waited patiently for someone to give me the «go ahead» that we could start. After almost 20 minutes of this, the clerk, who I originally talked to said, «Yeah, the leagues going to be using all the lanes, soooo yeah.» I was confused because I was already told the league would be there, but I think I got what he was trying to tell me, so I said «So, what you’re telling me is I have to come back at a different time???» and he said yes. So I took my shoes off and we left. Probably 30 minutes later.
I obviously can’t speak for the actual «bowling experience» that this place had to offer, but I can say the service was terrible, and the disorganization of this establishment was laughable at best. This was my first time at this establishment, and am confused why they would turn away (new) paying customers for a league that is probably going to bowl there regardless… Would not recommend.

Group of co-​workers and myself came to bowl and eat together…75% of our food was over cooked… I returned mine and asked to please have it re-done.they questioned me, looked at each other sarcastically smirked n said ok… made me feel very un-​comfortable and wrong for wanting decent NON burned food… when I got my NEW food back… it was BURNED even worse! !!! Ill NEVER recommend this place!

This a small but adorable bowling alley! Very very reasonable price and allows up to 7 people per lane! Its location is also very convienent for students and nicely in downtown bham. Will definitely come again!

Bellingham’s finest (and only) bowling alley. Jukebox, video games, TVs for sports, it’s the whole package! The food isn’t bad and the beer selection is soild. It’s a charming institution… a throw back to another era!

I actually bowled here when visiting relatives early March. The bowling alley does have an old school feel to it as all the lanes are close to each other. In addition there’s only half as many lanes available compared to a modern bowling alley.
I had fun bowling but paying was a different story. The price was somewhat expensive in my opinion. Maybe I should’ve asked for the student rate or bowled during a late night promotion. I also wish they had more of a variety of bowling balls to choose from. Nevertheless 20^th century bowling did the job and provided some entertainment on a weekend night in Bellingham.

I like the location of this much better than park bowl on Meridian, however it’s not as nice a facility. It’s small with ~10−15 lanes. Small selection of house balls. But, it’s fun bowling and conveniently located. Grab a ball.

Dark and dingy, but they are very affordable, and are a good spot for a group to have an inexpensive night out. Staff is really friendly and accommodating, it just sucks they have such a bad facility to work with…

This bowling alley has been around for over 70 years and has not lost its quaint charm. Even though the lanes and building have been refurbished, it still has its retro feel.
The alley has 16 lanes, several beers on tap, a decent sized menu, café lounge area and a pro shop. The staff is friendly and even remembered my name after a few return visits. Also you pay once you’re done bowling so no need to worry about pre-​paying.
20^th Century is located conveniently in downtown with free parking across the street.

Just hosted an event here and they really were nice and friendly. It’s in downtown b’ham and it’s open late. So if you ever need to host an event and need all the lanes, it’s doable and affordable.
They have all you need if you have kids as well. Bumpers, light balls, and even those rolling racks.
We’re definitely coming back to host another event.
