Well, I thought I had found my dry cleaner, but my earlier fears of lost clothing because of sending to an off-site area for processing came true… on November 21, 2011. Just this past week I got a refund for them, on February 25, 2012. Here’s how it went down: –Nov 26, 2011: Stop by to pick up clothes, am told they are held back for further treatment. –Nov 29, 2011: Clothes still out for treatment. –Dec 5, 2011: Still out for treatment. –Dec 12, 2011: Admission that clothes were lost and the owner will be contacted to make a refund. Owner does so, but asks that I bring receipts so that he may submit them to the insurance company for reimbursement. –Dec 13, 2011: Receipts are dropped off very next day. Standing by for refunded loss. –Dec 28, 2011: Call for update, no information. Ask that the owner calls me at their convenience so that I may know what is going on. No return call is made. –Jan 11, 2011: Call for update, no information. Make same request, no call is returned. –Jan 24, 2011: Call for update, no information, yet again. Once more with the same request, and once more with no return call. –Feb 9, 2011: Yep, same thing, no info, no true regard for my situation. –Feb 22, 2011: Contact small claims court to get papers for filing a request of refunded losses. –Feb 23, 2011: Call the dry cleaners requesting information necessary to produce my claim. –Feb 24, 2011: Receive a call from the owner stating that my check is ready and can be picked up as off that day. –Feb 25, 2011: Pick up check without even having to explain who I am. As soon as something was stated that it was now escalating to a legal situation, the problem found itself fixed. That’s awful, awful business to me that as a paying customer and regular, you would string someone along with no intention of making good on lost goods, fixing the problem, and intentionally ignoring someone until only it serves your own interest. I will never be back, and you can all but guarantee that I will most certainly be letting anyone and everyone I know to not risk going through the same ordeal that I did.
