Chinese food on Christmas, when I am away from my family, has become a bit of a tradition for me. After today, I think I will have to come up with a new depressing Christmas tradition. My experience tonight went wrong three times(a hat trick?). First, when I made the order, I was told very emphatically by the hostess that my order would be ready in 45 minutes to an hour. That seemed kind of crazy, but whatever, they must be slammed, being Christmas. So, when I get to the restaurant 50 minutes after ordering, the same hostess I ordered from tells me, «Oh, I thought you were never going to come! I was going to throw out your order! It was sitting for 40 minutes!». I was stunned. I reminded her that I did exactly as she instructed, and received back a blank stare and an «oh». Not sure where the long estimate came from, but my food ended up sitting out for far longer than it should. Oh well, I can get over that. No big deal. In a hurry, I gave her my card, she charged me, and I was on my way. As I was driving, I thought to myself… «Wait, how is it possible that an order of mu shu Pork and an eggroll costs $ 27? That’s crazy… The menu said it should be something like $ 17. Maybe an up-charge for Christmas? That seems scummy…». So, I called the restaurant, and spoke with the same hostess. She didn’t sound too surprised by my call. She informed me that she overcharged me by $ 10, and had me give her my card number over the phone, so she could refund the balance. I am still fairly uncomfortable over this… The hostess apologized, but I can’t help but feel that this might have been intentional. Very concerned about giving her my CC # as well. I will definitely be diligently watching my account for the refund, and for any unexpected charges… Finally, on to the main event. I was hungry, at it was Christmas, so I wanted to stay positive about this experience. Everything above can be made OK if the food is good. So, the food was cold by the time I got home(no surprises there, considering how long it had been sitting out). So, I nuked it a bit and dug in. First, the eggrolls. These are HORRENDOUS. They seemed to be relatively normal eggrolls, which were then dipped in a thick batter and deep fried. There was maybe a centimeter of breading all around each eggroll. I had to throw it away after a few bites, as they were making me nauseous. It was the same sort of fried atrocity you may find at a state fair, just soggier. The mu shu pork I had wasn’t too much better. It was bland and flavorless. The ingredients seemed cheap, for what it’s worth. It wasn’t terrible, but it certainly wasn’t appealing. All in, very disappointing experience. Today is almost a year to the day since I moved to Bend. Since I’ve been here, I can’t recall having a single bad meal out in town… My humble recommendation is DONOTCOMETOHONGKONGRESTAURANT. Or, if you have a gun to your head and HAVE to(and are ordering takeout), double and triple check the order time, with whomever is taking your order. Then, when you pay, ask to see an itemized rundown of the charges… Interestingly, I never received one. I will update this review if I never receive my chargeback. I will also update, if I end up with food poisoning… At this point, I wouldn’t be too shocked if it happens.

Food is ok nothing special. Best service is in the bar, and get to watch the local color for entertainment. Mix drinks are strong

This restaurant used to be good, but in recent times it has gotten very poor. We walked in last night at 6 p.m., not a soul in the place. Not a good sign. We walked out. Then read the reviews and are glad we walked.

Absolut the worst Chinese food I’ve ever had Everything we ordered was bland, boring and tasteless. Ordered a duck dish and not only bland and boring it tasted old Why is this place still open? As a tourist wish I would have consulted Unilocal before I dined

Not what we expected. We ordered the cashew chicken. It looked pretty good, but tasted very bland, with not very much sauce. The chicken texture was unusual. Maybe some of the other dishes would be better, but we’re not curious enough to try again.

Do not go there. Very bad food!!! It was horrible, worse we ever had. We were so hungry and so dissapointed that we had to go somewhere else to get something to eat. We pay $ 25, no tip. I shouldn’t have pay at all.

The waitress was really friendly and very sweet. I wish I could say something good about the food. The food was absolutely awful, horrible flavor and the presentation was terrible. I would not recommend going there. I guess I should have noticed when walking through the door it was empty and for a reason.

Who can say no to a lunch buffet? I only wish I lived closer.

The Thai style chicken is tasty and has white meat chicken and fresh veggies. The lo main has the right flavor and proper chow but the noodles are too soft. Overall — quantity not quality.

We came for the 3rd day in a row, this time for dinner. Working a graveyard shift we overslept for the lunch buffet, but thats ok we ordered our favorite the #10 which was superb. Its Friday April 1st, we came in for the dinner buffet, which was totally awesome!!! The pepper steak was so melt in your mouth tender the sauce for it phenominal it was the favorite part of my meal this time. I loved the mar far chicken, the shrimp, and the pot stickers, along with the pork fried rice. But again it was the pepper steak that stole my food heart this time it was so good. On Fridays and Saturdays they have dinner buffet for $ 9.95 per adult which isnt a bad deal for good quality food that tastes as if they invited you into their home, I seriously recommend eating it here. This is a gem in Bend, OR.
