Asghari Guitar Lessons

I love music, but in my forty years of living, I had never picked up an instrument. So, when I finally did, there was a moment of reservation. Holding the guitar for the first time, I felt sweaty beads of reluctance form in my palms (well, maybe not that drastic, but you get the idea). These doubts, however, were quickly dispelled from my first session with Aaron. Music is awesome, as is learning. Aaron’s much-​appreciated blend of patience and enthusiasm always reminds me that there is indeed nothing to ‘fret’ about, that there is fun to be had – even with my new nemesis, the bloody F chord. A really nice person, and a great teacher, I have thoroughly enjoyed learning with Aaron.

Aron is a very accomplished musician, well educated in performance guitar.
Aron loves to teach… he is patient, enthusiastic, and encouraging, and a joy to learn from. Personally, I hope he resides in Berkeley for many more years. You will find me sitting beside him learning more than I could have ever imagined. LQ

Incredibly patient, soft-​spoken, extremely versatile as a teacher, and unusually knowledgeable about music — this is how I would describe Aaron. He plays in a heavy metal band, but he seems to be able to teach nearly any kind of guitar music skillfully. His ability to deconstruct the chords and speed of a song I want to learn is very helpful. I thank him for caring about the basics and focusing me on learning all the chords, not just the ones that are easier for my short fingers to reach. When I needed smaller assignments to develop a better sense of accomplishment or an alternative to a difficult chord to avoid terminal frustration, he helped me out. I love that he plays his guitar with me during a lesson!

I have been taking lessons with Aaron for about a year now and he has been a great teacher.
I had been playing guitar a bit by myself for a few years, but found that I hit a roadblock and wasn’t really improving. I found myself working very hard to memorize a song, and then eventually forget it over time. I realized that I really had no understanding of the music behind what I was playing so I reached out to Aaron to help me further develop my guitar skills.
Aaron is a chill guy and was immediate receptive to my desire to understand the theory behind music. He is extremely knowledgeable about music theory and many different music styles. He helped create a lesson plan around my interests and since then I have learned things that I never though I would ever be able to do such as improvisation, ear training, and sweep picking.
Thanks to Aaron, I now have a fundamental understanding of the theory and technique of both guitar and music in general. He has rekindled my love of guitar and I find myself picking up new songs much faster and remembering them must longer. I highly recommend Aaron to anyone looking to improve their guitar skills.

Aaron is fantastic. I decided it was high time I learnt the guitar. I love guitar music and I needed to do this for a long long time — life just got in the way.
I discovered Aaron through an email offer and the timing was right. He’s been my teacher now for nearly a year. He is incredibly patient and encouraging. I am mature enough to know that it’s my responsibility to be proactive and learn — he can guide me on technique and keep me moving — which he does ably, but I (you) have to learn on your own between lessons, otherwise all the teaching in the world will not make you an accomplished player.
He has world class credentials from having studied at MIT in LA which impresses the heck out of me. He’s creative in suggesting ways to get through the blocks and is keeps upping the difficulty of the music we are learning to always keep me challenged.
I highly recommend him.

Aaron is very knowledgable and skilled — both as a musician and as a teacher. He is very patient and thorough, and has an extensive knowledge in music theory and composition, which is really helpful for a beginner student like me! I highly recommend him if you’re looking to learn a new instrument or improve your skills. Lessons are always fun — looking forward to the next one!

I casually played guitar for around 2 years. I had knowledge of basic chords and could play most pop songs but only with same strum pattern. I asked Aaron to teach me about rhythm and how to decipher the strum patterns of songs. Aaron is a very chill instructor and listens to all of your concerns. I learned how to play several unique strum patterns, and I think I can figure out a lot on my own now. If I wasn’t a starving student, I’d definitely take more lessons!

I spent about 6 months trying to teach myself guitar and it was such a nightmare. Finally broke down and invested in guitar lessons, and I was lucky to find Aaron. He is very patient with me and corrected all the things I was doing wrong. He helps me find music that I like and suggests a few others that are more challenging. He’s also really easy to talk to and his lessons are always fun.
I’m definitely going to continue with him, and I highly recommend him for other new guitar players.
