I’ve been going titis place since I was a little girl with my grandmother before she passed. Yes it’s a small mom and pop restaurant, the décor is outdated, and the chairs don’t match, but it feels like grandmas house if your grandma cooked amazing breakfast like these guys. One of my favorite places to go when I have a little more free time to enjoy myself and relax. I would try the 2-way breakfast with eggs, potatoes, beef hot links, and biscuits with gravy.

One of my favorite spots in the area for breakfast. The menu selection is HUGE, and the food and service is always great.

On my visit with a friend recently, I just was not WOW’d by this diner. It was not super clean, old interior, no/slow service — I had to go to the counter for my food, water, napkins, utensils, etc. That’s just ridiculous. My meal was simply forgettable. My friend liked it but I am so very cool. I’ll just stick with Oakland Grill for my breakfast fanfare and eat their crab omelet.

A great place for breakfast call your order in advance and make them repeated it to make sure they have it correctly. For the pancakes, eggs, bacon, all price about nine bucks. This place is dive, old fashion junky place that could use an overall on cleaning up the area behind the counter. It is junky! Bring cash, or at least have cash on you. Sometimes the credit card machine goes down and it is not pretty scene!

Little corner grease spoon diner, with decent coffee and free refills. GOOD: –The portions here are a decent size(It’s a lot of food). I’ve manly had breakfast here, so I can’t speak for anything else on the menu. Plus, I only go to BBC on the weekends. –Refill coffee(Damn fine coffee ~TPFBI Special Agent Cooper) –Seat yourself –Old school feel aka original interior and family run. What not to expect, bourgeoisie décor or gourmet brunch items. Thank goodness!

Broom Bush is a pretty sweet place to grab breakfast. My wife and I stopped by while passing by on San Pablo Avenue. We were pretty hungry, and left satisfied. Broom Bush won’t win any awards for décor, true. It reminded me of some of my favorite greasy-spoon diners, though(and didn’t end up being all that greasy, though). The menu’s pretty extensive, covering lots of standard breakfast and brunch options. Prices are great — this might be the cheapest sit-down breakfast spot on San Pablo. I’d like to be proven wrong. I ordered one of the smaller combo plates. Came with pancakes, eggs, toast, and several strips of bacon. Was around $ 8.00, and was a good deal. Coffee was a bit burnt, that was my only gripe. Service was great — prompt and courteous. I’ll definitely be back.

Good, neighborhood café that locals patronize. We had breakfast here, and were pleased with food and the service. The place could use some updating, but it was clean and we started our day with a hardy breakfast

Found this place and for a hole-in-the-wall spot the food used to be really good. Now their prices continue to up and nothing about the menu or the restaurant has changed. It’s still a dirty place with old everything. They need a warmer for your food too. Just sitting it on a counter when it’s done is whack. On my last visit the food wasn’t prepared right, and it was lukewarm. I will be taking a break from here. There are places with better breakfast in the area.

Well, I did not expect much and got even less. I went there for lunch there other day. Ordered polish kielbasa omelet. Well, it was kinda dry, boring and tasteless. The place it self has this old, drab, cheap atmosphere. The bill for the omelet and coffee came out to 15 bucks, so not that cheap. Meh, there are better choices just a few blocks away. Skip.

Just so happened to be in the area with my fiancé and needed to eat. We were actually looking for another restaurant but we found out they were closed so as we were walking back to the car, he suggested this place since he said he’s been here before a few years back. It’s a classic, homey diner. As we walked in, we were immediately greeted and attended to. I love family owned, local restaurants and this place sure has been around for a while. It’s dated but it’s clean and I like the comfy ambiance. Their menu was extensive, they don’t just offer breakfast items. They had sandwiches, salads, burgers, etc. My fiancé ordered the Jalapeño Chili Cheeseburger and I ordered their Corned Beef Hash with over medium eggs, country potatoes and sourdough toast. I’ve been to many places where I ordered eggs and they never seem to get it how I like it but this spot executed that(I’m particular about my eggs) :-) The hash was meh since it was straight out of a can. I can tell that they use a lot of canned foods such as the jalapenos in his burger and probably the chili too but I’m not sure since I didn’t try it. It was mediocre but not horrible and we left with our stomachs full. They have quite a few regulars so they must be doing something right. Maybe I would try something else on the menu but I’m not really in a rush to come back any time soon.

Broombrush is a place I mainly went to because it was close to my house, I keep returning because it has great prices and good food. Is it healthy? Probably not. But it’s good large portions and tastes good. I usually get the broom brush breakfast with eggs, pancakes, sausage, and hash browns(which are so so good!)

Don’t expect linen napkins, fine dining service or a wine cellar stocked with French wines and you will be OK. Diner fare served in a diner. Go figure. Its a good honest spot to get a good honest breakfast.

I was referred here by a colleague who lives around the corner. I enjoy my hole-in-the-way greasy spoon like the next person, however BBC left me feeling empty, sad and dismayed. The food was tasteless and plain. It’s a greasy spoon — everything should have a hint of greasy in it! No here. The bacon was room temperature and clearly cooked a day or two before, refrigerated and tossed on my plate. As a bacon lover I can tell a mile away when bacon is ill prepared before it reaches my palate. On the Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives scale this place is a 1. Sorry Broom Brush, but you can use that broom and brush yourself off my list of places to frequent as a weekend Bay Area breakfast place lover.

Wanst sure if we needed to seat ourselves so we did. Then we sat for a bit when 2 different peolle came by and didnt ask us for our drink order. The server was SUPER quiet when she spoke too. My food was mediocre at best and for some reason its standard for them serve margarine with pancakes instead of butter. Eww. Not the most attentive staff. Pass.

I visited the Broom Brush on Wed and had the short ribs, rice and salad. The food tasted fine however I didn’t appreciate battling the two flies that also enjoy short ribs. There are no bug lights anywhere. I was also bummed because in 2014 they still don’t have wifi available. To top it off 30 mins after my stomach began to hurt. I know it was the food because this is about the third or forth time it has happened. If you visit the broom brush you are taking a 50⁄50 chance on a stomach ache later.

Family run neighborhood diner style place with a Jersey style menu(a little bit of everything) and breakfast served all day. The food is not bad, and if you can look past the worn around the edges décor(I’m being gentle here) it’s a good spot for a bite of home style(well, not my home) cooking.

Its funny how the word«dive» has evolved from a having negative connotation to a positive one over the past 20 years or so. This place represents all the positive aspects of a *good* dive: * Its got a humble hasn’t-been-updated interior and the cost savings from which is passed back to the customer in the form of cheaper prices * As per first bullet, cheap prices * Family run(a curt but industrious and speedy Korean family owns the place — go there 3 times and you will at some point interact with entire fam) * No glitzy menu * Off-the-beatin path locale on the not much treaded stretch of San Pablo in mid-Berkeley * Never really busy, but pleasantly so — and somehow stays in business despite that * Eclectic customers — all kind eat here and they often provide interesting entertainment
