$ 4.66 for a huge box filled with rice or chow mein or both! If you get half half, you tend to get a little bit more than usual. Good place to go when your wallet is light

The food was uneven today. Rice is very hard, tastes like it has been sitting around in the fridge for a few extra days. Not appetizing. I think they had rice that wasn’t sold over the weekend, and instead of tossing it, decided to cut corners and serve it. The kernels were as hard as Trump’s stance on immigrants. Difficult to swallow indeed… The older lady who was serving today is kind of stingy with the portions. The noodles were good, the other dishes were fine, but you can’t enjoy a Chinese lunch if the rice is not edible. Most of the time the food is good, but it ticks me off when I spend 6 – 7 bucks and can only eat two thirds of the meal. The entrée portions were small, and there was more rice than anything else in this 2 item combo.

I feel sick after eating here. Let me sum it up. The workers are so rude, I get that students may be annoying but thats no reason for the horrible service. I got fried rice, which was stale. The vegetables were soggy & the shrimp was idk even know what was going on with that. I do not recommend eating here! Giving 2 stars because of the cheap prices.

Taste like a worse version of cheap food, like McDonald’s, but Chinese food. I recommend spending a few more bucks and going anywhere else.

The customer service is either really good or really bad. The young people who work here are very polite and they give you a lot of food too. The old people who work here are very quite, rude, and give you a decent amount of food. I cannot forgive any employee who will just shove you your food and look away after you pay. The quality of food is decent and cheap though.

I just came home with the large family meal and the kind gentlemen was extremely nice and helpful. I ordered honey walnut, spicy chicken, green bean chicken, salt and pepper fish and chow mein. Everything was delicious! My family meal can with 4 egg rolls and that was a nice addition. Honestly, I would rather eat here than most Chinese restaurants around the Berkeley area. This is was my first time here but definitely not my last! If you want A+ service and some Chinese food, make this your go to!

Chinese food for the poor haha. Chinese Express is a great deal for the food that you get; it may not be the healthiest, but it’s definitely good. We got the small family special that easily fed two(about $ 6 per person), but could feed 3 on a good day. 4⁄5 for food 5⁄5 for price. Reminds me of my childhood. +.5 star.

The closest thing you’ll get to Panda Express at Berkeley. LOL. My review’s probably biased because I have a lot of emotional value placed into Chinese Express. I lived in Unit 3 as a freshmen so whenever I didn’t want to the DCs, I always ate at Chinese Express. It’s cheap af and the server is always a really friendly, energetic guy.

Excellent food at rock bottom prices. Try the coconut shrimp. Also, the place is clean and well lit

One of my favorite places to get lunch around campus. Spicy chicken is a must try and the broccoli beef is incredible. Tom and Chrissy are always friendly and do their best to remember customers and what they order. Sure they charge for using a credit card, but their prices are great, and it’s not cash only.

Inexpensive, generous portions, and fast. Better than Panda Express. Always get chow mein.

I LOVECHINESEEXPRESS. So I call it «cheap Chinese food» that’s what it is. It is VERY affordable. The quality obviously isn’t gourmet but it’s still pretty nicely tasting and filling. I usually always get combo A with half chow mein half fried rice and spicy chicken. It also is unhealthy with all the oil and what not but can’t expect more. Plus it’s part of the«cheap food» you are looking for. The place is pretty small. It’s not a great place to have a bunch of people come and eat. But it’s great for a quick cheap lunch with a few friends while on campus. The staff(owner?) is really nice. He always greets with a smile and is super friendly. Tis the go to on a budget.

Sometimes, typically on a weekend or «cheat day», I just want some cheap Chinese food. Chinese Express is my go-to place for this in Berkeley(especially since Peking Express has closed!). I usually get a 2-item combo, and you can get your rice/noodles half and half(I usually go for chow fun/chow mein, or chow fun/fried rice). Most of the dishes are your typical«Panda Express» fare. A word of advice though — I always wind up ordering the lemon chicken, the«orange chicken» of this restaurant, because it always looks so good. However, I find that the chicken is always pretty. rough and chewy? I would get something else instead, despite how good it always looks! Service is always so friendly. And they are not skimpy with portion sizes despite the cheap price! I get the sense that they really enjoy leaving their customers happy and well-satisfied, and that makes me all the more happy to come back for more. :)

This is a place where you can get cheap, Chinese fast food! Cheap prices, large portions, tasty food. It’s perfect for a college student. I always get combo #3(chow mein/fried rice [btw you can request half chow mein and half fried rice!], and 3 sides + soda… I love the orange chicken, bbq pork, and bbq chicken. The beef broccoli & spicy chicken are pretty good too!) Combo #3 is $ 7.50 exactly with tax. If you use card, they charge a .25 cent fee. They may not tell you about the card fee so just keep that in mind. I get in, and get out. It usually takes around 5 minutes for me to order and to get out. It’s very quick. The workers are nice too! The younger lady always gives out a lot of food. The older man is a bit stingier. Would recommend. Just know that this is a fast-food Chinese place, so don’t have super high expectations. Food is premade but still fresh and warm and tastes great! It’s greasy though but hey, isn’t that part of the charm of fast-food? Combo C is enough food for two meals for me. $ 7.50 for lunch & dinner?! It’s a great deal!

combo c = rice and 2 items with a drink = 6 dollars This place is the best place for Chinese fast food. The young dude and the younger lady give the most food. The grape soda is pretty solid here too. The rest of this text is so my review doesn’t become a tip.

Cheap and good! What more can you ask for ? I ordered the chow fun, chow mien and orange chicken for 4.75 ! It was all very good esp the chow fun! When the orange chicken got cold. It didn’t taste as great as when it first came our and esp compared to the noodles. Def coming back because its right next to my class

Cheap, food court style Chinese. The food was not particularly special, but it was not bad for the price. Everyone likes ‘bad’ Chinese American food every once in a while. As with these types of places, the more recent the particular item has been cooked, the better it will be. It might be challenging however, to get several fresh items, as the items came out of the kitchen sporadically after the opening time, which is actually sometime around 11am-12pm. Having had to wait for quite sometime for the different items to come out of the kitchen, the employee in charge graciously offered me a discount. I believe they take credit cards, but might charge a fee not detailed on the menu. Come for takeout or quick lunch.

I’m not a big fan of fast-food Chinese but I used to come here often by freshman year when I lived at Unit 3. It’s cheap, fast, and filling. The rice and chow mein are very bland so I highly suggest adding Sriracha. The orange chicken is pretty good! It’s crispy and has good flavor. The Mongolian chicken is also good. I got half rice and chow mein with 2 entrée’s for only $ 6.50! For that price, it’s expected the food isn’t going to be fantastic. My only complaint is that I think they put a lot of MSG in their food because I definitely felt it about 15 minutes after I finished eating.

Food: To start, this is a place to get Panda Express style Chinese food for super cheap. And sometimes, that’s exactly what I want, especially on a busy day where I’m stuck on campus. So to that end, this place is just what I need. But to be more technical, its an average chinese fast-food place serving the typical foods you would expect at any other chinese fast-food place. I feel like the food is a bit too salty in comparison to other places, but for the price, I could care less. $ 4 for a one item entrée(tax included) is pretty good and they give you a lot of whatever you pick as a carb option(rice, fried rice, or chow mein), though they don’t give you much meat if you pick the one entrée. Occasionally they have daily deals that are pretty good too so check for those first! Service: The servers are actually very friendly and have never given me attitude or shown that they were having a bad day. They do accept card, but there is a 25 cent charge, but the fact that they price their food so that it comes out evenly with tax to the dollar is a nice incentive to pay cash Environment: No real décor and it kinda just looks like a food court. But whatever, that’s not what you’re here for anyway. The place is clean and organized though!
