Beautiful view, 2 leveled playground. 1 for toddlers &1 for older kids below. Picnic table under redwood & expansive green lawn to roll down or picnic on.

Love this playground. We are having our two year olds birthday party here. It’s a great space to keep the kids enclosed. There is not much in the way of seating for a big group, just one picnic table in the shade and two benches by the play area. But bring a blanket for a good old fashioned picnic.

What a gem! There’s a lot of open space in this park, and it seems like it would be a great spot for dogs or kids or maybe both! There’s a baseball diamond, and the public staircases in the area make for a perfect walk or workout. The views from the park and the surrounding area are excellent, and there’s even one bench where you can sit and take it all in. I was there on a cloudy day, but I assume the view is even better without fog and rain.

Yet another hidden Berkeley park in the hills(see also Terrace View) with a large playing field. It’s larger than one might expect with a lot of level area. Access isn’t that great with parking on La Loma. On a recent visit I didn’t notice any dogs or their poop, unlike the 2008 review.

the parks in berkeley are one of my favorite things about living in this urban suburbia, and this used to be the gem of the bunch. lately, however, it’s been a source of frustration rather than relaxation. it has stunning views of both the golden gate and bay bridges, in fact, there’s one place where you can stand and get a perfect view of both simultaneously — otherwise, the view is filtered through some nice, old trees. unfortunately, someone has been leaving heaping piles of their dog’s business right in the spot. what the flip? there’s a children’s playground in the upper part of the park, not that i’ve ever been to it since i’ve never been accompanied by a child. a few picnic tables are on the skirt of the lower part of the park, with a small barbecue. here, there’s also a baseball field with a low fence around the outfield(if it weren’t there, i’m sure a lot more sports equipment would be lying at the foot of the surrounding hill [loma]). while the field seems to have some flooding issues — there’s currently a sign proclaiming that the field is closed — i think the more serious problem again is canine-related. or rather dogperson related. the grass along the fence is basically dead, and i would worry about stepping in something other than mud if i were playing outfield. most every time i’ve been here, someone has arrived accompanied by their dog, and sometimes spontaneous dog parties erupt. while i grew up with a dog and consider myself a dogperson, i don’t appreciate the messes that are left behind. if you can’t be responsible enough to clean up after your dog, then you don’t deserve to have one, simple as that. please stop ruining the park for the rest of the citizens of berkeley.
