Stopped in by my self the other night and sat at the sushi counter, ordered ala carte which never disappoints! I have noticed recently that the specials have really been branching out and getting very creative. Every time I’ve gotten adventurous I am greatly rewarded. Still Great after all this time!

Been going here for years and always enjoy. It is Japanese at it’s best. You cannot find anything close in the region w/o heading for NYC. The sushi is fresh and well prepared. The bento is great. The pork fried rice always a treat. Shabushabu… make a date! Soba terrific. Very good sake selection. Always a go to place and always consistently good.

This is my first time visiting this restaurant. This place is definitely not 2 dollar signs. It should be 3 dollar signs. The place is not bad, we ordered a spicy seafood soup, couple rolls and a chef special appetizer. This is so not what I expected for a 4 start review restaurant. I will not come back here again.

Incredibly fresh sushi, one of the best Japanese restaurants in terms of food quality, in this part of Connecticut! Better prices than those newer«trendy» sushi places. And this place is authentic – the owner is Japanese. It’s not a crummy Chinese restaurant masquerading as a Japanese place, nor«pan-Asian» place that happens to serve sushi too. We had the Sushi/Sashimi for two, the beef negimaki appetizer, pork collar with kimchi, and Hawaiian-style sashimi(poke). All excellent! No other sushi place in a 25-mile radius comes close. Don’t let the average-looking décor or exterior fool you, the freshness and the quality of the food is spectacular!

House of Yoshida has been my absolute favorite hometown restaurant for probably a decade now. So many important evenings have been spent here with my family that I could not even begin to count them all. The culmination of all these events, however, was when they helped my mother and Maid of Honor put on my bridal shower in the main dining area. Through the years, every member of the staff here– and in particular their former long-term waitress Sarah — have taken such good care of me and my family that I cannot thank them enough. Even though this is in the same strip as a Dunkin’ Donuts, the inside is actually lovely and very tranquil. They even have two private rooms where mid-sized groups can enjoy a meal in solitude. The prices are really reasonable for the quality and quantity of food that you receive. The service and food preparation are wonderful. The menu is diverse but contained enough to all be executed well, and the same can be said for the bar. Even though I have been a vegetarian for quite some time now, they always have things that I can enjoy to eat. The vegetable maki rolls are all fantastic, their seaweed salad is perfect, and their steamed vegetable gyoza have the perfect ratio of dough to vegetable. For my bridal shower, they even made a special soup not on the regular menu made of arugula and other vegetables since miso soup and all the other soups are made with fish. My parents often gets the squid fried rice and the sushi & sashimi for 2, which they always enjoy and always comes fresh. We’ve ordered numerous drinks off of their cocktail list and all of them have been fun and enjoyable. They also have a solid, if small, wine list with a favorite in the family being the Coppola wines. I have been so fortunate to be able to enjoy so many meals and evenings at House of Yoshida, and I hope to continue to do so over many more years to come. Thank you all for your kindness and care to my family.

My go to spot for sushi! I’ve gone several times and the food has always been just as good as the first time. Speedy service and good prices. Great place to bring any person that likes sushi or Asian food because they have a variety of great dinners. I usually get the California Roll, Eel Tempora and Spicy Tuna. If you have never had sushi this would also be a great place to start. The good is fresh and the service is always very friendly!

Great sushi for cheap and super fun cocktails that use a lot of sake. The waitress with the dyed bangs reminds me of Wild Style from Lego Movie, and she’s awesome and super kind.

If going by the exterior or location of a restaurant is an example of their cuisine than House of Yoshida is the complete opposite. When our friend invited us to go for sushi I was not expecting to have one of the best meals of my life. He asked the owner to just bring us servings of his best and he did just that! Everything was perfect and each dish was chosen for its freshness and flavor. If every restaurant selected their menus with as much care and thought no place would ever serve a bad meal. If you don’t try this place your life will forever be lacking in the experience of secret fine dining.

Update: After taking a hiatus from Yoshida for over 4 years(see previous review), we mustered up the courage to go back, hoping that whatever issues were going on were resolved. Happy to report that we were SO pleasantly surprised. Everything was perfect, fresh, and delicious — just like we hoped it would be. They’ve earned the bump-up from 2 to 4 stars.

I have never been disappointed when choosing to eat here. The atmosphere is great and the food is even better. Their fish is fresh and nicely prepared. I have been to many different sushi spots and this is by far my favorite.

First off, the service kinda sucked. I ended up having to get up to find someone to get the check to leave after sitting there for quite sometime. There isn’t much in the way of desserts, I was told that ice cream would only come in tempura form, and that was about the extent of the desserts. The food was very bland, I tried the teriyaki chicken and it was just a plan, steamed chicken with very simple/basic sauce on top, the noodles served with it were well over done. The gyzoa which is usually a favorite of mine was definitely not worth trying. The sushi deluxe was a bit different than what you normally expect, and some of the pieces tasted like they were less than fresh. I think what I enjoyed most was the drinks, mai tai’s are about all that was worth having. Overall, it felt like a waste of money on overpriced basic foods.

Very very good. Better than most NYC places I have been to. A bit on the expensive side but the fish is great. Try the Udon soup, salmon carpacio and anchovy edemame.

If they happen to be serving it – please, please, do yourself a favor and try their bouillabaisse; it’s the best food I’ve had in the last 6 months. As for their rolls: Priced right and tasty. I had their beef roll and it was just freaking amazing(for an oddity). Their servers are experienced and nice. This is my favorite sushi place in the Danbury area.

Cute place, I know it’s in a strip mall but they do a good job to not make you feel like your in one. Service was pretty good, very nice hostess and waitress and they are the reason I’m giving them 3 stars. Food was very sub par. Started with edamame and spring rolls. No real complaints with edamame, I like the saltiness… Spring rolls had no filling, it was fried crust and that’s pretty much it. Proceeded to order a spicy tuna roll, rainbow roll and spicy scallop roll. Not one of them had any flavor whatsoever. Beyond bland in every sense of the word. It’s a shame we left so disappointed cause it’s a cute place but we have no intention of returning nor would we recommend it.

My parents ate here very frequently for a while, and on the occasions that I tagged along with them, the head waitress(and I believe part-owner) Sarah not only remembered us and was incredibly warm and personable, but often remembered what we each typically ordered. Super impressive. Even better, though, was that after a few visits she noticed that my boyfriend and I never ordered any meat or fish and took the time to tell us which dishes were actually made with fish sauce so that we knew what to avoid as vegetarians. The food’s always excellent, it’s never overcrowded, the atmosphere is perfect for a nice quiet dinner, and the service is top notch.

Paraphrased from the end of the Cosby Show’s theme song, «this is the best sushi place I’ve ever been to». House of Yoshida is wonderful. I’ve been going there for probably over five years and the waitress there is incredible. She’s super sweet and loves to joke with us and makes being there a real pleasure. Love the Negimayaki and the Wasabi Dumplings. Their bagel rolls and spicy tuna rolls are amazing too!

Hands down one of the best sushi restaurants in the Fairfield County. The owner Aki is a master of his craft and it shows in his dishes. Fish is always the freshest and quality is top notch. Had the spicy egg yolk, shrimp, and bok choy dish and it was absolutely amazing. It’s a hidden gem that everyone should frequently visit.

This review is by my 10 year old daughter who was missing her mom’s Japanese cooking while out of town for a few days… Tried House of Yoshida in Bethel for the first time. It was after soccer practice and we were all cold and hungry. We had a great dinner– I would highly recommend this restaurant as probably the best Japanese place I’ve experienced in the area. Food: AMAZING fish!!! Sushi and sashimi was very fresh and tasty! They receive fish deliveries every other day. Great vegetable tempura — crispy and light. I was a little disappointed with the fried gyoza — it was on the mushy side and the flavor was just OK. My mom makes awesome gyoza so this place probably didn’t have a chance of getting a good review for that dish — sorry. Tried the miso soup which was yum!!! Also edamame which was good but Yoshida does not salt it so you have to use soy sauce if you like it salty. Service: Fast service. The waiters are very kind. Things came out quick and hot! A lot better than at other Japanese restaurants. Comments: The lighting is a little low but not too dark. The restaurant itself is pretty big but not uncomfortably big. The sushi bar and the tables are a nice place to relax and enjoy the food after a long day. I would highly recommend this place for a nice meal.
