The food here is not the problem, by any means. It is the first place I’ve ever eaten — or tried to eat — where I was yelled at, lectured and told: «You need to realize where you ARE!» because I wanted to know if I could try something vegetarian that was not offered as such. I actually feel sick thinking about it and probably will not be able to convey the depth of mistreatment I received here. And I’d been a regular customer, too. I mean, the grape gazpacho is absolutely fantabulous. It’s like, well, excuse me for wanting to know if I could branch out from that once in a while! Sorry for asking if I could try this Afghan sandwich without the meat. Yes, I know people in Afghanistan eat a lot of meat but dude, you are a flippin’ ignorant(not to mention unbelievably rude) idiot to tell me you’re making things authentically the way they make them there and not catering to what they’d make for tourists — hello! First of all, what tourists? I’m not saying I’m an expert on the subject but how the hell many tourists ever make it to Afghanistan? Aid workers are a much more likely bet, I’m sure. Ah, I need to take a breath because this guy knocked mine right out of my lungs, like a punch in the gut with his yelling. And excuse me for happening to know that if I were to visit that area of the world, I’d be a lot more likely to be served MEAT as a guest because they consider that an honour. So you are just so wrong on so many counts, but yikes you really made me question if the food-service industry has any standards at ALL. I had to walk away while covering my ears because the, um, proprieter would not stop yelling at me about how it’s Jews(such as myself) who order the ‘Knot Kosher’ more than anyone. Why would I need to hear or ‘know’ that, and how could he possibly in the first place? As if everyone who orders states their beliefs. I’ve never met a more contentious, offensive, insulting, don’t-know-what-to-say about him food worker anywhere, ever. Unbelievable, unreal, unfathomable. Not to mention the other chef — very friendly, talented, nice, welcoming, gladly telling me what’s in every thing I ask about but … smoking in my face the second the clock hits five or whatever the current closing time is. Gross. Not for me. But hey! Go ahead and enjoy it. And yeah, sorry but I gotta go on just a lil’ bit more — I mean, the guy knew me. He recognized me, for sure. No doubt. I’d been back and back and back, sometimes as much as three times in a day. We were not strangers to each other. So I felt really betrayed. Why did he turn on me? Because I asked for a little understanding about why I’d like a certain sandwich prepared in a way I could actually eat it? And you know, vegetarianism is not necessarily about personal CHOICE, either. Once you don’t eat a certain thing for long enough, your body will in some cases(It’s an individual thing) stop producing the enzymes to digest it. So if I were to be so honoured in Afghanistan, I might throw up. A true host might care about this. But also — in Afghanistan, I’m guessing the meat would be prepared in a hallal manner which is more tender than what is normally available in these oh-so-glorious United States of our America, so it would probably be more easily digestible. I don’t know what kind of meat they’re using, but of course that information could have been presented to me in a congenial manner or at least at all, and it was neither. Puke on you, dude.

When I received an e-mail this morning from Unilocal’s SANDWICHSHOWDOWN, I was hoping to get in a review so it may be posted in the showdown for this food truck in Bethesda, one3five cuisine, and rave about the different and diverse sandwiches these guys put out! My biggest impression was with the triple D burger – I am a native DC Washingtonian and I remember when Hot Shoppes had the MIGHTYMO — this is that burger! When I asked why they couldn’t call it the MIGHTYMO, they told me that the name was franchised by the Marriot Corporation. OK, the next biggest impression was the PHILLYCHEESESTEAKS! Wow, not only like a Cheesesteak in Philly, but like the menu states,” If it’s not on a roll from Philly– it’s another Washington imposter” — they get AMOROSO rolls shipped to them from Philadelphia – mmm, mmm GOOD! And speaking of Phila, these guys have the SCHMITTER on the specials — this famous Philadelphia sandwich is made with cheese, sliced steak, fried onions, grilled salami, and a special sauce! They also have this DEAL – a sandwich, a side and a soda for $ 10 including tax! ANDTHEYCATER! Why do I get so excited about food? Not only am I Italian but I opened Filomena Restaurant in Georgetown and was their manager for 18 years — and they’re still cooking! Stay tuned, Steve Markham, the owner of this one3five food truck, is going to open the old Majestic restaurant on the other side of the Women’s Market and call it Markham’s! I think I will find out about working there myself — lol!

So I am posting this based on my co worker recent experience: I’ve tried this food truck on several occasions solo and with coworkers and friends. Always been a decent experience until today. I get to the window and order a burger(5.99) and a bag of chips(1.00). Guy at the window asked for my credit card and charged me $ 10.00. I wouldn’t have known had I not asked for a receipt. My request was received with a grunt. Upon receiving the receipt, I said–«$ 10.00? How much are the chips?» When he replied a dollar, I was a little confused. He then says – «So what – get a soda.» I’ll admit, I was a caught off guard. I said – «I’d rather not drink a soda right now.» Especially, a $ 312oz can of coke… that’s even expensive for Bethesda! I was then told«Well, I can’t back out the transaction.» He’s silent. He offers to give me back cash to make up the difference and does. He says, «I gave you a little too much, but whatever.» I don’t have my phone on me so I can’t calculate the extra cents that may have been given to me. I wait for my food. Cashier and cook start making fun of me. A couple minutes go by. Cashier tells me my burger is ready, but refuses to give it to me until I «give him some money back because he gave me too much. He says, «I just checked it on the register so give me a dollar.» I do, although his math was again incorrect, and now I leave short-changed. Never again. There is no excuse for poor customer service.

This is the best food truck I have ever eaten at. Lots of new daily specials. The staff is cool and will let you sample anything. I work around the corner and prob eat here 3⁄5 work days a week. Cant beat the deal, main item, side dish or soup and a drink for $ 10…Hats off to a great food truck.

I had the cheesesteak and it was sooo yummehhhhhhhh! I no longer feel the need to drive up to Philly to get one. Very friendly service, too.

There have been two sandwiches which I go here to regularly get; one is the«Bahn Mi,» the best seller according to the first time I happened upon here while driving around. I have to say that I was quite pleased with it, very delicious and fantastic with the Clam Chowder which I get as part of the $ 10 «The Deal.» No matter how much I’ve tried, they are so kind, they refuse my tips. There have been times where they have accepted, but they’re very modest overall. That’s what I like about it. The other great sandwich I had here was the«DC Triple Decker Burger,» which is basically like a gourmet Big Mac. To me, this is what a Big Mac should taste like. This burger predates the McDonald’s creation by about 10 years and so these«triple decker burgers,» really do seem to bring to me a sense of true Americana nostalgia, when the US was indeed the global superpower it was, and is what makes America the greatest country in the world. Today’s Big Macs aren’t as inspired as these and would totally recommend you go try these two. There are some other sandwiches, one which is the Lobster Roll. I can’t say I’ve been a fan of it, tried it once or twice. Not quite to my liking. Feel free to give it a try, but it is a little more pricey.

I have worked in Bethesda for two years and only recently discovered this AMAZING lunch spot. The truck sitting in front of the women’s market(which is not operational Monday, Tuesday, Thursday) seems a bit out-of-place, but my oh my am I happy I tried it. I have tried a range of the offerings here and never been disappointed: Banh mi sandwich and salad served with perfectly seasoned pork and super fresh veggies, Gaucho Delight sandwich with chimichurri that brought me back to a trip to Argentina, Chicken BBQ sandwich, the Smitter special with fried salami… wow… I look forward to my lunches here! Also the soup is excellent – I should take it to go. Sometimes they give out samples – the Green Grape Gazpacho is excellent, the Thai Pumpkin Chicken was divine. Stop by if you’re in a rush but not a big one – it takes a bit of time to make food this fresh and delicious!

I’m from NY, the land of food trucks and carts; so believe me when I say I know good street vendor food. I’ve had their Gaucho’s Delight(Flank steak sandwich) last week. It was so awesome, I made sure to tell a few coworkers. Today I took along two other coworkers to sample this awesome cuisine and help spread the word. I had the special of the day, the Smitter. Afterwards I was pleased to find out this marvel of a sandwich is going to be added to the regular menu. Freakin’ phenomenal sandwich! And the Sides… this being my 3rd time eating there, I’ve learned no matter what you choose, you can’t go wrong. I’ve since made it a point to eat there at least twice a week.

I’ve had a good portion of the menu from here. This place is great. Today I had: Rueben Special sandwich with black bean chorizo soup(real good). All that and a drink for 10 $ even, a great deal given the quality of the food. The corned beef was sliced thin, tender and damn good. Combined with the grilled rye, copious amounts of russian dressing and homemade kraut, it was out of bounds. This is the kind of place Unilocal is meant for, get out there and try some.

The food here is incredible. I ordered a veggie sandwich with the red pepper and leek soup. It was gourmet comfort food with toasty homemade bread pieces on top. You can tell that the ingredients are very high quality. The veggie sandwich I got was with the«weber veggies» and it had a deliciously light, sweet BBQ sauce. They really gave me the best of everything: a hearty mix of avocado, peppers, onions, cilantro, etc. The people were very nice and willing to customize everything. I ordered the deal($ 10) including soup, soda, and sandwich and the quantities were very generous for what I paid. Would highly, highly recommend.

The name is a take on their daily offerings. One soup and sumpin sumpin(chef’s choice), 3 salads and famous city sandwiches, five specialty sandwiches and side dishes. Got it? Good. I had a case of ordering anxiety and got the first thing I laid eyes on, the weber salad. It was a pretty standard salad with grilled veggies on top, which was very good but I’m eyeing the banh mi sandwich or chicken wrap for next time to get a little crazy. The Deal is a great budget friendly lunch option — any sandwich, a cup of soup or small side or chips, and a canned drink or bottle of water for $ 10. Sandwiches are between $ 6-$ 8 on their own, salads are $ 7-$ 10. Open til 7 pm so also consider taking something home for din. If you can’t tell, it is a(permanent) food truck, so duh, no seating, but great for grab and go. Staff(owners?) are so nice and since it was a chilly day, so they were handing out tastes of soup while they were making the food. Red Bean soup was hearty and flavorful — I’d definitely get a bowl of that next time.

Permanently situated in a corner of the Women’s Market, this truck’s delicious odors fights a good fight against the bakery and Indian stands inside the building. The Deal is a solid offer, $ 10 to include a soda and small soup or side leaves a moderate appetite way full for a lunch portion. As tempting as the lobster roll was for the day’s Sumpin’ Sumpin’, I had to try the banh mi($ 7.99). More cucumber spears than pickled daikon and carrots, a good amount of cilantro and jalapeño rounds. Scallions and red onion were as light as the aioli and fish sauce. Definitely not on a baguette as expected, but the meal stayed reasonably dry and the flavors were in the right neighborhood. Bonus point for moist and flavorful pork loin, even if I was hankering for some pâté and head cheese. Down home potato salad had its namesake element cooked through, but the dressing didn’t impress and the bacon wasn’t enough to warrant a repeat performance. No argument with the deviled egg half and pickle round with our Deals. Beverage options included water, Canada Dry, A+W, and another soda or two. The bite I sampled of my coworker’s knot kosher was a little too basic to not disappoint. I’ll definitely be back to try the turkey and flank steak sandwiches.

The Banh Mi sandwich was awesome, highly recommend. One of the more flavorful sandwiches I’ve had in a while and the owner went out of his way to be welcoming and friendly.

I recently got a job right across the street from this food truck and I just cannot believe that such a place exists. It’s a small little food truck right on 355. This food truck has some of the best food I’ve ever had in my entire life. I’ve been back almost every day for the last two weeks and I’ve never had the same thing. They have salad, sandwiches, soups, and specialties. I am a huge fan of their sandwiches. They have the gaucho’s delight which is marinated steak with chimmichurri sauce, potato sticks, and brown butter onions on a brioche bun. The ban mi is also really amazing pork with fresh pickled veggies. The philly cheesesteak is delicious. The bbq chicken is better than any other one I’ve had. They have that as a special sometimes. Today I had a lobster roll which was the special for today. For a side I had homemade carrot ginger soup. The food is fresher than any other place nearby and the prices are reasonable. The people who run the place are so nice and you can just tell they are passionate about cooking. They even know I don’t like veggies and joke with me because of it. But I actually like a lot of the veggies they put on the sandwiches! This really is my new favorite place. If you don’t try it you are missing out. OH and the bread is FANTASTIC. Different bread for different sandwiches.

I got the Weber salad. It took awhile to get the salad even though there was not much of a line. They also forgot the gorgonzola cheese. The dressing was very good.

These guys(and gal) know food, know sandwiches, and get the job done. Everything is good. The whole menu. I haven’t had the salads, but I’ve had everything else, and friends have verified the salads as good also. All good.

I tried this place for the first time today and I was impressed. I had a combo and chose the creamy tomato soup and the gaucho Delight Sandwich. The soup was excellent. Definitely not from a can. It was well seasoned with a great texture. the sandwich was very good as well. I probably could have used just ½ a sandwich with the combo but I had left overs for a snack so that’s okay :-). They also included a deviled egg that was VERY good. It was reminiscent of ones I ate as a kid. i wanted more than one! I will definitely be returning. I may become a regular.
