I bought the living social exam, cleaning and whitening. I am very nervous going to the dentist. I have a great dentist. Dr. Arthur Weiss in Rockville, but went because the living social deal was so affordable. I asked for nitrous and was told 1) I didn’t need it for the cleaning(trust me, I do) 2) they would give me a valium for $ 100 or the nitrous for $ 100 a half hr. And I would need an hrs worth. My doc doesn’t charge for gas. And it is a much more comfortable environment. We started with the gas, but this woman made me even more nervous. «Put your hands on your stomach, not the chair, you will relax better.» No, I didn’t. I asked for a topical numbing gel before the cleaning. They refused. After I couldn’t breathe the way they told me to — «in thru your nose, out thru your mouth… no no, you are breathing too fast!» I was very nervous and decided just to leave. It would be better to pay $ 250 at my dentist, with a better chairside manner, including gas. So, I left. Also, I hated the environmnent. Very open with all the chairs — rather like a hair salon. Seriously, $ 100 for a valium? Really?

I responded to a coupon advertisement for an «invisalign» special. I’ve had orthodontic treatment in the past(metal braces and invisalign) by a qualified orthodontist. Therefore, I’m very familiar with the process. Over the last few years, my teeth have shifted so I decided it was time to fix the issues before they continued to worsen. This is what brought me to Dr Yaz’s office. After he fitted me for the invisalign, he gave me the ENTIRE9 month’s worth of trays all at once and I was pretty much on my own after that. I was told to start a new set of trays every two weeks and encouraged to schedule follow up appointments on my own. Future follow up appointments were not set in advance; typically an orthodontist will never administer all invisalign trays at once; instead, the patient returns every few weeks for an evaluation and the next set of trays are provided at that time. This helps ensure that the teeth are responding well to the treatment and that the patient is adhering to proper timelines. This was not the procedure at Dr. Yaz’s office. I recently went back to his office to discuss my displeasure with the final results. He was unprofessional, insulting and unapologetic. Adult orthodontia requires special care; Dr. Yaz paid very little attention to detail throughout the life cycle of my treatment. I’ve learned my lesson; next time, I will get a referral from someone I trust. The impression that Dr. Yaz left was definitely not a positive one. You truly get what you pay for!
