Izumi Japanese Asian Bistro

Consistently outstanding!

Being in the neighborhood, I pulled out my Unilocal app and found this little place. It’s not that little. Even though located with a parking lot, the parking is a bit tricky as the next-​door place has valet parking, thus many spaces are blocked off.
Nonetheless, Izumi is a beautiful place with some amazingly nice people doing a great job in hosting and serving great food. Being Friday night and some guests over, decided to grab a quick take out.
The order consisted of shrimp lo mean, sweet potato cool, lobster tempura roll, rock and roll roll, rock shrimp app, and a chicken teriyaki box. Everything was amazing. The rolls were fresh, delicious and filling.
Overall, great experience. A very important point for them receiving the 4 stars. Accidentally, the shrimp lomein was forgotten to be included in the bag. It was noticed upon reaching home and when I called them. They had it delivered quickly on a fri nite. Kudos…

Sushi is always fresh and the staff is very friendly. I’ve sat down at the restaurant, had delivery and taken out, the food is consistent. I would recommend this place to others.

2.5 stars over all. It is Chinese made. Disappointed. But eatable. Shrimp tempura is fresh, crunchy and light. But seriously, it s more Chinese version of «sushi». Udon is mixed with typical Chinese shredded cabbages, carrots and chicken! OMG! Sashimi deluxe came out with thick chunks:(the only dish I enjoyed was shrimp tempura. Btw service is very typical of Chinese services that lack of genuineness and humbleness. Especially the bus girl who looked like the world owes her a great deal. More over, they speak Chinese and then they presume so do you. Sucks.

Great service! The staff was very friendly and attentive. I had the mini wonton soup which was delicious! Sometime it can be oily but this wasn’t at all and the wontons were the perfect bite size. I highly recommend the Monster Roll, it was my favorite. Everything was very fresh.

Hidden gem. It doesn’t look like much from the outside. It’s in a nondescript little strip mall. Excellent food, good portions. Prices are very reasonable, service is very good. Ambiance is nice, but not overly fancy. Good for families, date night, etc. We went there on a Friday night around 7 – 7:15 and the place wasn’t too crowded. My only regret was we couldn’t take the leftovers home since we were going straight to a movie.

Got the seafood yaki udon and LOVED IT. It was my first time but definitely not my last.

Our dining group had a very good experience dining at Izumi on July 17^th. Attendees universally praised the freshness and variety of the sushi and other seafood dishes. We loved the Lychee Martini, which at $ 10(plus tax… a little weird to bill a drink at $ 10.8 something) was below what is usually charged for specialty cocktails. Sauteed Oysters with garlic were good, fresh and crispy. What was really exceptional was what the restaurant (erroneously) calls Peking Duck. It was an exceptionally cooked roast duck served over salad greens with white rice and hoisin sauce, but no pancake/​buns or scallions. The restaurant should make that clear on the menu so as not to mislead. Nevertheless, the duck was extremely well seasoned with just the right amount of crispness. The waitress was reserved but efficient and pleasant.
It was rather interesting that the restaurant was relatively quiet and not busy on a Friday evening, which was not a bad thing because I detest trying to talk over the typical Friday evening cacophony at many other restaurants on Fridays. Also worth noting is the ample number of parking spaces in the strip mall lot outside the restaurant which, conveniently, allows access both to North Wantagh Avenue and Hicksville Road (Route 107).
Izumi is a restaurant I would not hesitate to return to.

Awesome! Great service and amazing food. Came one day for soup, not expecting much. I was blown away. Definitely a must try if you are in the area.

Service is always outstanding even when they’re busy and can’t always give 100%… They have the most welcoming staff ever. In addition to the fact that I just love their food.

The food here is amazing! My girlfriend and I try out new sushi places every once in a while and we have eaten at really great places, but this is at the top of our list.
The parking is never an issue because it is located in a large strip mall. Which might seem like a small perk but it is frustrating trying to get sushi only to go somewhere else because you could not park anywhere nearby.
The staff are really friendly and always observant to anything you might need. They get plates, cups or bottles out of your way when your finished with them. Refill your water, refill your sake, you name it.
The food is amazing. I know that word gets thrown around alot but it truly is. I only get the signiture rolls but i have tried almost half of the roll menu and there has not been one roll i did not like and if you asked my mother i was always a fussy eater.
I recommend the Denise and Rock n Roll. My two favorites. With a large Sapporo and a large hot sake! You will not be disappointed!

I can’t say enough nice things about this restaurant and staff. The food is always amazing and fresh and the staff makes me feel at home when I dine there alone. I was truly impressed when I witnessed one of the sushi chefs help an elderly couple put on their coats and then actually escorted them to their car during a cold evening. I’m a complete fan and highly recommend.

Date night was held here for my husband and I on Saturday night and it was lovely. The restaurant was quiet and calm (unlike a lot of sushi restaurants).
We ordered shumai, beef (something), edamame, seaweed salad, and soup for appetizers. Everything was very fresh and served and plated so beautifully.
My husband got a sashimi platter and the fish was so outstandingly fresh. I tried the white tuna and was blown away!
I ordered the Panda roll with Spicy salmon, crunch, and avocado with brown rice. The roll was very fresh and rolled a little loose. They did not pack on the rice either, which I liked.
The waitress was so understanding of my husbands shellfish allergy and very mindful. We even heard her explain it to the chef.
The food came out quickly and the waitress explained each roll.
The food is very pricey for a Long Island sushi place but sometimes it is nice to treat yourself on date night.

Izumi is fantastic. Quiet little place with excellent sushi and warm welcoming atmosphere. I highly recommend Izumi.

Since my favorite local sushi joint closed down («Sensasian»), I have been looking for a replacement. I’ve tried a few in the area… most were average, none of them really stuck out.
I found this place on Zagat’s list of Long Island restaurants and decided to give it a try and so far I’ve been impressed. The place itself doesn’t look too inviting from the outside, located right next to the Long Island Manor (and that place just seems shady to me) but the inside is actually quite nice. The sushi tastes fresh and they have a nice variety of choices.
So far I have enjoyed everything I’ve tried and I recommend!

Dine in or take out. Very nice atmosphere. They have booths and a sushi bar. Great place for a date!
Quick service. Fresh and hot food. Excellent Miso. Specials and rolls. Tempura and things like Negimaki for those who are not a raw fan.
For some reason N. Wantagh ave. is an odd place. The shopping center which is on the corner of Hicksville Rd. and N Wantagh Ave and accessible from either, is very run down but don’t let it fool you. Izumi is a top notch restaurant with excellent reviews.
Its quiet, immaculate and cozy. Well trained staff and full takeout menu as well. They offer combo Bento lunch and dinners. The rolls are made for you and so fresh the rice is still warm.

Nice experience. Sushi was fresh and nicely presented. My daughter ordered a Jalapeño roll which was not on the menu and it was perfect blend of crunch and spice. Place was empty at 2 PM on a Friday so service was very attentive.

Everything was fresh, delicious, and appropriately portioned! .
My friend and I ordered many specialty rolls and dinner boxes. Everything was perfect! I can not tell you how many times I go to sushi places and the food does not taste fresh. This was all so flavorful, way more then other places I have been to!
I thought this place was more expensive then most, but it was worth it. The cheaper places are not this fresh.

Wonderful selection, friendly staff, clean atmosphere, plenty of parking, quiet and delicious! :)
Only slight downside — sometimes it takes a little while to get your check. But WELL worth it!

This is a great sushi place but for some reason they always seem to be out of what I want when I go.
I love that they are open rather late compared to a lot of other places in the area. I can’t even count the number of times I came 5 mins before closing and they still sat us. Thats great customer service.
The plum sake they sell is really delicious and overall the place is very well decorated More people should come here because every time I go its deserted.
