Hi just saw Dr, Kedan today for the first time. He spent a good amount of time with me asking me a lot of questions and answered all of mine. He made me feel very confident that he will find a solution to my problem. His office staff was wonderful and kind. All in all it was a great experience.

Dr. Kedan is great, however Dr. Kedan’s resident Dr. Mays no so much. She was asking me questions from another patient’s treatment plan or records, when I stated that wasn’t me, Dr. Mays stated: «but that is what is our notes for you». Out of fear I left.

A while back, I switched insurance and learned that Cedars was in my HMO plan. That was amazing as Cedars in general has such a great system(easy appointments, great technology, wonderful staff). Dr. James Caplan is my PCP(5 stars) and I had had open heart surgery when I was 5 years old(congenital birth defect, stenosis). I suspected I would need surgery again at some point, but since I made it to 40 years old and hadn’t needed it, I thought I might be out of the zone. Well, my very first referral to Dr. Kedan, he ran all the preliminary tests. When we went to the office, he began taking down my medical history.(Once your history is in the system, all doctors can see it, so Kaplan and Kedan can both see what each other have recorded) That took a few minutes, but what he did next is the definition of a GREAT doctor. He stopped the note taking and wheeled over on his doctor’s stool, looked me straight in the eyes, and said very calmly and reassuringly, «You are going to need surgery.(tiny pause) BUT, don’t worry. We will get through this together.» He added something like«You and I are going to get to know each other very well.» That was over 2 years ago and since the surgery(performed by Dr. Alfredo Trento — also 5 stars, but not very chatty or effusive), I have felt SO much better. I really didn’t realize that I actually had been suffering from a real lack of oxygenation. One thing I had had wrong over 10 years were irregular rhythms. My Electro Physiologist Donna Gallik(ALSO, 5 stars!!!) had helped by doing chemical and electro cardioversions a few times, and by identifying a rarely used drug that helped a bit. But, since the surgery the irregular rhythms have almost completely stopped. But, back to Dr. Kedan. I still go in twice a year. He has ALWAYS been supportive and made me feel like more than a patient. He offers fantastic advice. I knew I needed to lose some weight and I said to him. «I know what you’re going to stay. Lose some weight.» His replay was«I’m not going to tell you you NEED to lose weight. I’m going to TELLYOUHOW to lose weight.» He even had me watch the trailer for ‘Forks over Knives.’ I haven’t gone vegetarian, but I am very conscious of how I eat now(and have lost 40 pounds). He is a great proponent of technology. He has shown me how to use my iPhone to store medical data and to use it to stay healthy. I shared an app with him that I find useful: Cardiograph, and he has touted the benefits of FitBit. I haven’t gotten FitBit yet, buy I use MyFitnessPal and I use Pacer to track steps(10,000 a day!!) I’m not a man of substantial means, but each year I try to make a small gift to Cedars, and when I do, I always do it in his honor. Anyone lucky enough to have Dr. Kedan as their doctor should feel blessed. He is genuinely amazing.
