I sold a table through them years ago. I probably ended up with pennies on the dollar. I’m not surprised about the bad reviews.

This is one of the worse experiences I have had with an auction house. It is not what it appears to be so beware when they tell you something, make sure you read their contract carefully. It is 6 weeks after the auction and I am still waiting to be paid from them for the items I consigned with them. Although the contract said you will get paid 30 days from when the Buyer makes payment it is actually calculated as 30 «business days». Be aware that a buyer can pay them 3 weeks after auction so technically it can take 2 to 3 months to get paid from them from when the Buyer paid and auction was held. Plus you will probably only get 40% of what they sold it for after they deduct all the fee’s and extra charges. They also estimate high when they want you to list with them and sell it nowhere near what they estimate. It may sell for only 50% of what they estimate on your contract. Very said that this was such an unpleasant experience.

I love this place. Truly a wonderful experience. A great selection of high quality items and fun and fast auction. They don’t play games like many auction houses. When the hammer drops they are moving on. Very knowledgable about the items and very helpful during the viewing. Jake is awesome! Definitely come in and check it out… just don’t out bid me!

Please watch and ask many questions as to both being a buyer and seller. Read your contract thoroughly and ask for all costs to you. I did not have a great experience and was quite disappointed.

I have been selling my items through this auction house since October. The customer service is great! They are #1 at advertising and getting the best prices for your products. I wish the payments would come sooner but the contract states 60 days. I definitely recommend this auction house to anyone looking to get a fare price and great customer service. The staff is wonderful and the pieces are beautifully displayed and described.

Love the auctions here. Held on Sundays about once every month, they specialize in Asian art & antiques. However, I love when they have exceptional estate jewelry– usually very unique pieces that you cannot find elsewhere. If you can’t make a live auction, you can always watch and bid online via the live stream. You sign up once and you are assigned a paddle (you may choose personal lucky number) — and you just start buying. Extremely great service from Jake (the auctioneer). A family business which is a staple in Beverly Hills. Don’t miss a chance to experience a live auction. It’s thrilling!

I successfully sold over 8 items with such grace and ease I am still shocked that I did so little and got so much. The Chait Gallery left me satisfied and I felt settled by their level of professionalism.
I delivered most my items to them excluding two extremely large Buddha Statues. For those two statues the Chait Gallery actually sent a truck to me and two strong men to handle it. Once the items were in their hands everything else was taken care of. I ended up with a check, well, multiple checks since I had items in four different auctions in 2013. I sold Buddha statues, Buddha heads, a massive piece of Lapis Lazuli from Afghanistan and a few Asian antiques.
It was exciting when the catalogue came out and the pictures of my items proved exceptional, the descriptions exact, and the price estimates honest. The catalogue is more like a book than a magazine. On some of the items I thought I might get more but was okay with what I got and the piece of Lapis and a Buddha statue made out of a stalactite brought double what I expected. DOUBLE what I expected. Wow. I still think wow. I will always think wow.
Professional, thorough, and gracious. They deserve their place in Beverly Hills, they are a class act on a very real level. I am grateful to them.

They gave me a pre-​auction value on my pair of African tusks of $ 1,500 to $ 2,000. In searching the auction house’s history it seemed tusks similar to mine usually sold for ½ of the lower auction estimate but they assured me that mine would sell for the auction estimate. Of course, the tusk sold for $ 750. And now after six weeks and three non-​answered emails I still haven’t been paid.

Actually, ZERO stars.
In my dealings with Chait Gallery I have found Joey Chait to be so unethical as to be genuinely immoral. In my case, the description of the item I purchased was purposely deceptive, being described as only having «some wear,» when it actually had severe damage & dents. The photo of the item was taken to carefully hide this damage. When I pointed this out to Joey Chait, he indicated it was my problem because I didn’t ask them for more information about the piece. (Actually I had asked if they could tell me anything else about the piece when I called about doing a phone bid I was told no.) By his reasoning, it is my fault that I assumed the piece only had some wear simply, because that is how the Chait auction catalog described it. Likewise, just because the photo was taken to make the item look straight, I should have called to make sure ti wasn’t bent. Really? No.
I have bought from various auction houses for years & never seen such purposely deceptive behavior anywhere except at Chait Gallery.
Chait Gallery? More like Cheat.

1. you have to pay $ 10 for there catalog??? classless
2. YOU MUST SEE ITEMS IN HAND BEFORE YOU BUY! I have seen chipped snufff bottles not saying so in catalog, I have seen chairs broke in half then glued back & not stating in catalog.
3. Really pay attention to descriptions, slivered? wt*? does that mean, is it silver or not? They will sell recent pcs along with antiques. There so called expert on hand during viewing only has some knowledge on the pcs. Look for logical tips phillips head screws in antique chairs? i do not think so. Also be sure to get a cert of authenticity with each purchase you make.

5. auction goes fast, lot after lot, they mean business, buy it or on to the next.
I go back all the time, i just dont care for the descriptions that are very vague & newbies could be mistaken & get upset & not come back. Collectibles is what everyone should into right now! F wallst

When you are looking for a piece for your livingroom, jewelry or gifts, this gallery never ceases to have something absolutely unique and impressive. They also take great pains to ensure the product is authetic and well represented, I was surprised to note the rating especially when they do work with you to make sure you are happy.
This is a family run business and you can really tell, they have been doing auctions for a coons age and are real staples in the industry. I was also very excited when they branched into natural history and took on some IMPRESSIVE pieces, including prehistoric pieces.
I really do recommend stopping by for an auction and seeing what it is all about, it is a wonderful world of art and culture.
