Janelle Varada for Beverly Hills Hair

As a former hairstylist I feel as though I am as qualified as anyone to be very critical on the people who touch my hair. After months of research I found Janelle, and being a blonde with very fine, fragile hair, I was somewhat nervous to try a completely new person in a completely new salon. I am beyond satisfied with my hair. Janelle took the time to ask questionons, learn my expectations, and really understand what I wanted for my hair. I felt like she really cared and wanted the best for me. She was incredibly honest, friendly, and generous. Her assistant Hyk is awesome as well, they make a really fun team. Janelle is one of the sweetest people I’ve met in LA and I am so excited to be back to see her again!
I came in with brassy, grown out hair and she turned it into a beautiful red carpet-​worthy, effortless summer blonde. Janelle, you are amazing!

Janelle is a master colorist and an amazing lady. She saved my over-​processed lifeless hair years ago and I’ve been going to her ever since for my perfect honey blonde tresses. I have super fine hair and she knows how to weave in a subtle blend of shades that give it depth and dimension while still looking natural and shiny. Janelle is the JAM!

This review is way overdue but it is well deserved!
I came to Janelle with hair that had been highlighted and dried out, with blonde tones I disliked on my brunette hair.
Janelle started with a consultation with me and was very clear that she did not make drastic changes with her first time clients and that she was a fan of creating natural looks, which is exactly my style. She did just that, and I have to say she did the best color job I’ve ever had. She did a full «foil» (but did not use foil, she used another material), adding in two new tones and leaving my base my natural color so that the new colors were gradually integrated with my hair and I didn’t grow out roots.
She gave me a blended look with expertise — I did not find any chunks of color, stray highlights or anything of the such. She’s very skillful, direct, and will spend as much time it takes to do a great job. I recommend Janelle for anyone wanting a natural, well blended color!
Also, the woman who washed my hair gave me the most wonderful head massage while she did it – I’ve forgotten her name but she was so sweet and kind!

Ladies, please trust me when I say: There is NO ONE like Janelle Varada when it comes to hair color. She is literally, the BEST of the best. If you’re looking for a confidence boost and the perfect hair color, there is no one better to go see than Janelle. I first went to Janelle years ago when she was at a different salon and she gave me the BEST color of my entire life (I am extremely picky about my blonde — I don’t do high maintenance and I know exactly what I want). Janelle delivered in a way no colorist ever has. I left the salon feeling more beautiful than I’d ever felt before. Due to life circumstances over the next year, I took matters (i.e. my hair) into my own hands… obviously, this is always the WORST idea. I sought Janelle out again because I wanted to feel as beautiful as she’d made me feel, once again. I visited her at the James Kendall salon, and I couldn’t be any happier with the results. She made me feel like a bombshell blonde once again and I will NEVER go to anyone other than her. She is worth every single penny of your hard earned money, trust me. She gives me EXACTLY the results I want, every single time. She is also an absolutely incredibly person, and I truly enjoy every minute I spend sitting in the chair. Go see this woman… she’s the queen of hair color, and you will NOT regret it.

The best hair colorist I have ever had color my hair. Not only does she get the result but keeps the condition of my hair, with her treatments and special advice. I won’t be going anywhere else.

Janelle is incredibly skilled at what she does. I have very, very, VERY dark hair and got the urge to go lighter. I was adamant about there being no red and Janelle nailed it. From one picture alone, she took my gloomy mop to a bright, natural-​looking chocolate brown, which garnered a ton of compliments on its own. We set up a second session to add lighter touches throughout, and I’m convinced that Janelle is incapable of doing anything less than stellar work. She has an impeccable eye and depth of knowledge. She added the PERFECT blend of ashy blonde tones to brighten the color even more in the most natural, masterfully done way. It’s no exaggeration to say that I absolutely love what Janelle has done to my hair. She’s the truth, baby. I’d give her 50 stars if I could.

I don’t color my hair often and the last couple of times I had, I didn’t get the results I wanted and ended up disappointed. So when I made the decision to go blonde, I was on a mission to find the best colorist in LA who could make my blonde vision into a reality. I’m so happy I listened to all the other Unilocal reviews because Janelle is a goddess with hair color!
Right off the bat I felt super comfortable in my decision because she asked for images of my hair inspiration AND of my current hair color, so she could determine the best shade of blonde for my skin complexion and tone. Since we were dramatically lightening my hair, it took two sessions to achieve the blonde that I wanted. And they were both totally worth it because I am obsessed with my new color! She darkened my base to make the blonde really pop, then started using the balayage technique on the rest of my hair for the blonde. The results are gorgeous and, best of all, low-​maintenance and natural-​looking. In the back of my mind, I’ve always been terrified that I would look awful as a blonde, but the different shades of blonde Janelle used match my skin tone and complexion perfectly. I feel SO confident with my new blonde ‘do! For the first few days I couldn’t stop looking at my new hair in the mirror haha.
I went in not knowing a lot about color and not sure exactly how to ask for what I wanted, but she seemed to read my mind. Janelle also explained a lot of the process before we got started instead of just diving in which I really appreciated. I cannot recommend her enough!

Janelle is THE BEST! She actually saved my life and my acting career! Being naturally light brown, I dyed my hair black a couple of years ago. Seven years have passed and I finally decided to get rid of the «black». Every colorist told me that it will be so difficult to do it… almost impossible. One of my actors friends told me about Janelle´s amazing skills as a colorist. And I am so glad I have listened. She was so attentive, explained every step and the procedure was looooong but it turned out to be perfect, because she did her best (she always does). She has an amazing sense of fashion and a good eye. But apart of that… she is the sweetest thing!
I will never change my hair colorist again! Janelle you´re a star !

Janelle Varada is INCREDIBLE! I’ve had my fair share of horrible dye jobs and Janelle saved my hair. I have naturally dark brown hair and decided I wanted to go blonde and I refused to let anyone but Janelle touch my hair. She did two sets of baby highlights to lighten my very dark base and balayage to lighten the ends even more. I’m so happy with the results! My hair looks so natural and I wish I had gone blonde sooner! Janelle will never make you feel rushed and will put in the extra time to make sure your hair looks perfect! I highly recommend her to anyone who’s looking for an amazing colorist!

Janelle is the only one I trust with my hair — she is AMAZING! I had gone to her months ago for a subtle golden balayage that turned out perfect, and now with summer coming I wanted to go lighter. As always, she took her time talking to me and had the perfect vision for my hair. She used two different tones to create a BEAUTIFUL multi-​tonal look that looks so seamless and natural while still giving me a fun, bright and gorgeous new look. She even gave me a gloss treatment and taught me how she styled it. It turned out even better than I could have dreamed!

Janelle is amazing! Since living in LA, I’ve had my hair highlighted at several different high end salons hoping to find someone that could give me the bright blonde highlights I want – with no luck UNTIL I found Janelle! Janelle is super friendly and extremely talented. She really took her time to make sure she understood what I wanted and worked quickly! So glad I found her!

I had my hair balayage highlighted by Janelle before my wedding two months ago and she did one of the best jobs I have ever had!
I grew up in salons and know quite a bit about good stylists and my experience with Janelle was great.
She is sweet and patient and professional and listens to you, which are things I really really appreciate since I am very particular person. In the end after my apt was over I voiced that I had wanted a few highlights added to frame my face a bit, but I couldn’t stay longer since I had a previous engagement planned. She said no problem and told me to come back whenever it was convenient for me and she would happily add them for me.
When I came back for my second apt, she added a few highlights and gave me a gloss to make my hair look healthy and shiny. The color was perfect! She really understands how to give you the best shade of color that perfectly blends with your natural color. I received tons of compliments from all my girlfriends and family members later on. I will def be back to her! Thank you Janelle for making my hair so lovely for my wedding day!

LOVE Janelle! She is amazing! My hair was an absolute disaster when I went to her, my previous hairdresser gave me what she claimed to be a sombre, but was actually brassy streaks. I was so embarrassed… it was horrible! I hated my hair! After reading the amazing reviews about Janelle I decided she was the one to go to… The reviews were all dead on, she is AMAZING! I love my hair thanks to Janelle! She took a disaster and made it incredible! She really did an excellent job! I feel happy whenever I look in the mirror at my hair! I can’t express enough how amazing she is! I will never trust anyone with my hair color other than Janelle ever again! The whole experience was great, everyone is so friendly there, excellent service and the massage with the hair wash was fantastic! I highly recommend Janelle!

I’ll start with a quick review of the overall salon experience… A T Tramp is a clean, bright and well-​run salon. You most definitely get a 5 star treatment. From the receptionists, to the women who wash your hair, everyone was sweet.
I had a consultation with Janelle prior to booking my actual appointment with her since I was planning on coloring my hair lighter. She was extremely knowledgable so I went forward in booking with my appointment with her and I am so glad I did
Janelle lightened my hair by two shades. My hair had splotchy spots of red that I had gotten from the sun, and she evened it out and made it a little more golden instead of red. My hair color flatters my face so much, and really brings out the color of my skin and eyes. It is a rich color, and such a nice subtle change.
I left the salon feeling pampered and beautiful. I am definitely planning on visiting Janelle again soon so she can work her magic on me… She does killer balayage and I’m planning on doing that next!

Janelle was amazing!!! I went in with a very specific look I wanted for my brown hair that I’ve never dyed before. I showed her some pictures of a beachy gold color for a belyage and she matched it perfectly! She gave me a free blowdry after washing it so I could see the finished product. I love it! Definitely going back for any future cuts/​styles. Janelle works magic and she’s extremely personable while she takes care of you.

So here I am writing this review to tell everyone that if you don’t use Benji for a cut and Janelle for color. your hair probably doesn’t look as great as mine.
Like I said I am so beyond picky and Janelle listened to everything I said and did exactly what I wanted. She is the sweetest person I have probably ever met so her talent in the color industry is really just icing on the cake. I’m so excited to see what else she has in store for my hair.

Let’s just say that Janelle is blessed with the gift to do color! Being in the industry myself we can tend to be even more picky as we have access to a lot of hair stylists. Hands down my color and hair has never looked so good since she has got a hold of my head. Look no further, let Janelle do her color magic on you! LOVE HER!
