Jewels by Bernier

I used to work in an Antique and Estate Jewelry store, and we had to repair items often. Ricardo Basta & Jewels by Bernier is one of the finest craftsman in the country. His designs are exceptional. His work on Antique and Estate jewels is exceptional. Being educated in antique’s, I am aware, that due to the age of a piece, it can be fragile and require extra maintenance. The metal wears and is so fine, that Antique pieces need special care and handling. They are fragile and need to be treated gently. I highly recommend this company, they are the BEST in the field.

We took my engagement ring here to get an estimate to replace a missing diamond. We had a replacement stone already, and they said they would have to keep the ring in order to give us a quote. A few days later, they called with the quote and I said I would have to run it by my fiancé and I would let them know what we wanted to do. About 3 days after that, I got a call saying my ring was ready! When I went in to get it and told them that I had not authorized work on my grandmother’s ring, they said, «well, they did a beautiful job on it. Hmm, I must have talked to someone else about their ring… I wonder who that was…» !! They acted like there was nothing wrong with what they had done, but to make me happy they took $ 30 off the price and sized the ring for free (I still had to pay $ 200 for work I didn’t want). About a month later, one of the diamonds fell out. I was lucky enough to find it in the carpet. They did reset it for free but said the ring was too old to guarantee the work. When my fiancé went to pick up the ring, they said that they had fixed it for me twice for free (what?!) and wouldn’t do it again! So yeah, methinks not.
