Chad’s Place

Supper slow but friendly service. Seems like they get some regular customers, and the waitress talks for hours with them.
My husband got the build your own and I got the skillet. Both of us enjoyed our meals. Outside seating available. Only 21 and over allowed inside.

I wanted to like this place. I took our one year old daughter to the park just behind Chad’s Place a few weeks back and wanted to pick up food to-​go. I walked into the bar carrying our daughter to see if I could get a menu. As soon as we stepped foot in the door, I hear a woman’s loud voice yell, «You can’t bring kids in the bar!» I mentioned that I just wanted to order some food to-​go. She yells again, «Then you need to leave your baby outside!» Of course she saw that I was alone with my daughter. Who leaves their 1 year old outside alone? A friendly hello, I’m sorry, you can’t bring children in the bar… anything besides yelling and asking me to leave my daughter outside would have been nice. This would have been our first visit to the restaurant. Signs all over the building stating they have the best breakfast in town. We visit Big Bear at least once per month. Friendly customer service is key. I understand the age thing, it’s a bar, but being rude will get you no where.

Terrible host with an attitude horrible food we were there for breakfast mine had 2 bites of eggs a bunch of super dried potatoes, few bacon bits and sausage cut up into small pieces. I left the plate untouched was never asked if I didn’t like/​or what the matter was. Floors were dirty and the girl cooking in the kitchen had to be told by the awful host to turn the eggs before they dry out.

Very friendly owners. It’s a gem of a place. The place had the best French fries ever! Drinks were great as well. Their breakfast is very nice and made from scratch. Will definitely return!

I was a bit skeptical about the food but was very surprised to find that it is quite delicious! Margaritas are amazing too! We will definitely be going back!

Okay we finally ate some food at Chad’s place, sorry to say it wasn’t worth taking any pictures of, and it’s rare that I don’t do that. We had the El Gringo tacos with carne, wow it was like being at someones house that doesn’t know who to cook Mexican and says want some tacos, not good, and the wait was really long. So stick to drinks at Chad’s that’s what they do best.

Very cool bar in Big Bear. Nice place to go watch the game, eat «Bar Food» and have good beer on tap. Spent a few hours here playing pool, had a bast.

Stopped in for some burgers and booze after a day on the slopes. Let me start off by saying the Owner Bob is such a genuinely warm person, we were instantly greeted by him as he was tending that night. We ordered a couple of cheese burgers (both were amazing), seasoned fries and sweet potato fries (get the seasoned fries, they are to die for). You really get the small town feel here because Bob was so warm and we literally sat for hours chatting with him because we enjoyed his company that much! I hurt myself on the slopes that day and Bob was kind enough to get me ice for my injury. Now thats what customer service is all about! From the moment we walked in and were greeted, to the food, to the amazing conversation, even going above and beyond to ice my broken wrist! Thank you Bob! We will see you soon!

This review is for breakfast. Found this hidden gem walking by advertising breakfast. Note this is a bar do you do need to be 21 to enter, even just to eat.
Now onto the food! Delicious and quite reasonable. Do get the cinnamon bun, made on site! Amazing! How could you go wrong with cream cheese, butter and vanilla? Easily serves two or three!
My sister and I both had the pick three breakfast combo which is quite reasonable at 7.50 each. The pancakes, bacon, and potatoes were cooked fresh and tasty. Add on solid coffee and juice and the whole meal was a winner.
While we didn’t order booze folks seemed to enjoy the mimosas.

Been over 1.5 hours and still don’t have our food. Enough said. Don’t come here. Go to the liquor store and have fun at home. Sorry Big bear.
Follow up: after complaining a second time, one bartender in particular told us he’d take care of it. 2 minutes later someone from the kitchen apologized and delivered our food. The bartender was kind enough to buy us 4 shots. Food service wasn’t great, but the customer service will have us back for a second chance at Chad’s.

Robin is THE best bartender around. If you want a crappy bartender you can go to literally any other bar in Big Bear, but if you came to a bar to drink and play bar games then you won’t find a better real deal bartender than Robin. If ten stars were a thing I’d rate her that. Get your shit together, Unilocal

Stopped in here when passing through Big Bear.
They have a large, fully stocked bar and a pretty simple food menu. My mimosa was huge, so there are no complaints there. I ordered a quesadilla, which was good and my boyfriend had a bacon burger which he said was great and tasted homemade!
The bartender was friendly and attentive. There are pool tables and a good amount of seating.
This is a good place if you are looking for something laid back with simple bar food.

This is a bar with food, not a restaurant. The reviews don’t really state this so thought I’d inform everyone.
After walking in and seeing a VERY dark location with only lighting around the horseshoe bar on; rest of the location was pitch black.

Delicious breakfast and great staff. It’s a 21 and over place all day, everyday, where there no screaming kids! Ha! So you can enjoy your breakfast and have a mimosas whatever time you wish.

Owner is super nice and fun to talk to and is always cleaning.

My boyfriend and I visit Big Bear every 5 – 6 months or so from the Downtown LA area and we always make sure to stop by Chad’s Place while we’re here. Our absolute favorite bar EVER! The staff is super friendly and extremely attentive. Bob and Carla are the bee’s knees and make you feel so damn welcome.
Prices on food and drinks can’t be beat. Excellent menu, with a wide variety of appetizers and well prepared drinks. You haven’t had a Bloody Mary until you’ve had Carla’s Bloody Mary. To die for, I promise.
Also, if you have a sweet tooth, you MUST try some of Carla’s Apple Pie or Banana Pudding Cake. Simply out of this world.
We are definitely customers for life. :)

This was my 2^nd stop on my Bloody Mary Mission. Can’t really say I enjoyed them here. They made their own mix which I didn’t find all that great. Although I will say the burgers here looked amazing!

The lady and I have made a tradition of coming through Chad’s after snowboarding
Bear Mountain. Great bacon cheeseburgers and gin and tonics. We love it! Also ask bartender Carla about her desserts. We take one for the road every time!
