Self-Help Federal Credit Union

For years this was a great locally controlled credit union. Previous management sold out to another company and this became Self Help. We had been valued members for decades and sadly recently closed our accounts due to numerous mistakes, periods of in-​availability, new charges, staff changes, and a loss being valued as a customer. We were allowed to vote on the takeover but I suspect that was only symbolic as nobody we talked to voted for it. I suspect this CU would have remained independent if the former president wouldn’t have made it his mission to pursue loans to people with improper documentation (he was very eager to offer services to foreign nationals with Matricular Consular cards.) This was once a great local institution, but sadly the Butte Federal Credit Union we once knew and loved has gone the way of the dinosaur.
