Now if a double espresso latte is your eye opener, best stop on your way, Muzzel Loader just does regular old coffee. Does the parking lot look full… come on in! This place is unique for its’ simplicity… one great room w/booths along the walls and 4 – 6 seat tables in the center, friendly attentive staff. the clientel is a mix of farmers & ranchers, old & young, hunters & rockers, locals & travelers… people wanting a good filling meal and some conversation, Jonel was our server, she kept our coffee hot and our cups full! Our food was hot and tasty from the biscut & lots a sausage gravy special to the 3 slice Texas style french toast, generous tasty portions at a great price. Next time we come thru Billings we’re stopping for the CFS!

Our servers were very friendly. After the friendly service everything else was just okay. Fluffy omelet with chili/cheese also a bowl of Chili for my wife. Good but nothing great or unique. The décor needs some upgrading, well a lot of yoga during. At the very least it may feel cleaner. Located beside the casino. Looks like it gets a lot of locals but an older crowd.

Tried it for breakfast while in Billings. Not great in the food department, but did have a great server.

This is by far our favorite place to eat breakfast in Billings. The service is great and the food is amazing with very large portions. We will definitely visit this place at least once every visit.

We decided to try the Muzzle Loader Café after reading many positive reviews on Unilocal. We are sorry we did. The Chicken Fried Steak, was not chicken fried, but just a piece of meat that was cooked on the griddle and covered in gravy that most likely came from a can that had been sitting in the back room for quite a while. The meal came with pudding, which was disgusting and runny and came from a tub. We either hit it on a really bad night or the reviews on here were written by staff and friends. We were very disappointed and do not recommend this place ATALL!

I like it here it’s a good place to come in the morning have a good hearty breakfast and start your day off right. The staff is friendly I always try to go in and get something different but I usually wind up having their sunrise breakfast.

The chicken fried here is best in town. Pan fried to golden brown. Perfect eggs and you get a cup of coffee first thing with your pitcher of water before your butt hits the booth :) I love that kinda service! It’s got a truck stop feel so you know it’s good. This is my breakfast spot on my days off.

We brought our softball team here after reading many good reviews. I called the morning before our tournament to ask if they needed a heads up before nearly 20 people descended upon their restaurant. They said no, just come in and we’ll get u set up. So we did. It took about an hour for all the orders to be taken then another hour before anyone was served their food. The servers were trying their best to keep up and were very friendly, however, they clearly were not prepared for such a rush. The famous chicken fried steak was served lukewarm, the gravy skinned over after sitting for some time. Several prime rib specials were served very well done rather than medium rare as requested. I was hoping for a slam dunk at this place as several from our team needed a restaurant where they could get the most bang for their buck. After our experience tonight, I can say I doubt I could ever get this team and parents back into that establishment.

This is likely the best chicken fried steak in Montana. The coffee also flows at a very consistent rate. You cannot beat the prices! I think the service was great and I will likely visit here again the next time I am in billings Montana.

Cheap eats, and great staff, so I tested them breakfast, lunch and dinner, have to say as I listed was which I liked the best there. I love gravy and hate the white wall paper paste you get in the south. This was not even close to the best but maybe 2 pepper shakes from being the bottom of the list. This would be best described as a café old school diner. It’s worth a look for lunch and breakfast, even dinner unless your on a date, but if you been married for 20 years like me, its ok for the wife lol.

My boyfriend and I arrive around 11:00, and it was very busy. I was worried that we were going to have to wait long, when we put our name it they said 15 – 20 minutes, but they ended up getting us in around 10 minutes which was awesome! The service was great and our waitress kept the coffee flowing. I order the Sunrise combo(?). I was very impressed when it came my pancakes were huge, and my bacon was cooked just the way I asked for it! I would certainly go back the the Muzzle Loader the food was good, and so were the prices! The service was outstanding, and our food cam quick !

The menu looked pretty good and I was excited to order. Sadly, right after I ordered the power went out in the whole area. The server was super nice and dint charge us for our drinks… one day I will return

Busy café. Simple but good food. Large portions and very inexpensive. The hand breaded chicken fried steak covers a whole plate and cuts with a fork. The place was very busy and our meal was served in less that 10 minutes.
