Everyone in our party of five thought this warranted 3 stars, not 4.5. Food was alright. Prices were okay. Not a place you want to just hang out and eat for a long time, everything was served in styrofoam cartons. Service was a bit weird — staff seemed to go between loving and hating each other minute to minute haha. A very casual place. I will say it does have authentic flavor and menu, if that’s the main thing you’re looking for.

Holy crap the food here is good. Being from NYC and going to school here in Binghamton, I noticed there weren’t a lot of good food places. But Mi Casa is definitely one of the best places in Binghamton. I had the Ox tail, rice, beans and fried plantains. The Ox tail was bursting in flavor and was falling right off the bone. The rice was cooked extremely well and the beans were the perfect side to go along with the rice. I’ve never been a fan of fried plantains but Mi Casa is serving up great fried plantains especially with the sauce that comes with it. If you’re living in the Binghamton area you must come here !

I wasn’t expecting much from the initial perusal… a standard«order at the counter» type place with food prepared in the back. Much to my pleasant suprise, the food was excellent. Tostones — perfectly cooked and served with a horesradish mayo Papa Rellenado — Giant ball of mashed potato, filled with ground beef, and covered in caldo(they offered the caldo, i didn’t regret it) Tilapia and yellow rice — wonderfully cooked with caramelized and peppered onions, in a tomato and chile sauce, with olives Hands down the place to go in Binghamton.

Visiting Binghamton from California and seen this place on Unilocal.I used to live in Tampa so I know my way around Latin American food. Still have a fond place in heart for La Teresita Restaurant in Tampa. If it wasn’t for the positive Unilocal reviews I would have passed by this place without giving it a second thought and missed some good food. The portions are enormous. I repeat the portions are enormous. My pulled pork and yellow rice with black beans was enough for 3 meals. Dinner at Mi Casa, lunch the next day and put a few fried eggs over it for breakfast another day. The yellow rice and black beans were tasty and again they didn’t skimp on the portion size. The sweet plantains were the perfect side. I’m looking forward to trying the Cuban sandwich next time I’m in Binghamton. The service good. Waiter warned us the hot sauce was muy picante. We tried it and it’s not for the faint of heart. This is the kind of place Anthony Bourdain would feast at if he were in Bingo Town. Thanks fellow Unilocalers!

This place gets a 5 simply because it is literally the ONLYAUTHENTIC Hispanic restaurant in the area. I have definitely had better in my lifetime but Mi Casa is just fine with me. I eat here at least twice a month and have yet to be disappointed. Now that they’ve expanded their dining area it only makes me support and like them more. I hope they can remain a permanent fixture here in Binghamton because there are very few options for truly authentic ethnic food. Their portions are huge. A large can probably comfortably feed 3 people. Being hispanic myself I am very critical and keen on crappy Spanish food but the quality for the quantity is a great value for sure.

I came here before the Spiedie Fest to see Christina Perri with two friends based on the reviews. I was pretty excited since I am a world-traveler and have been throughout the Caribbean numerous times. I ordered one of each the chicken and beef empanadas, and the chicken empanada was still cold and as though it had been taken out of the freezer and not heated long enough. The beef empanada was hot and delicious, however. I also ordered the chicken stew and the non-sweet Plantains since they were out of the sweet Plantains. The plantains were cooked very well, but there was no seasoning to them and the sauce wasn’t my favorite, so I barely touched them. The chicken stew was lacking in flavor and vegetables as well but it was not bad. My friends got the baked chicken and chicken stew as well and ate most of their food and felt it was good but nothing impressive either. I am not sure the food was good enough to warrant a trip back, but I am curious over how those sweet plantains taste for them to have been sold out.

This place is AWESOME! And really, it’s the only place in the area that serves authentic latin food. The only flaw I have ever encountered was that they say they deliver, I tried it once, and it took so long, I cancelled the order. But it still has not deterred me. Go inside, order, less than five minutes later you will be walking out with your food, or you can sit down to eat. Whatever suits you I guess. All I know is the food is delicious, not expensive, and worth it for the price. Very hefty portions.

The prices were decent but the food, service, and cleanliness was not so great. This is literally the only Hispanic restaurant in the Binghamton area and it’s definitely not worth going to.

This. Place. Dios mio! It’s a diamond in the rough disguised as a hole in the wall. It’s super tiny with only a few tables, and everything I ate was delicious. We started with one chicken and one beef pastelillo. Both were delicious though I was more partial to the chicken. We ordered tostones and maduros with our dinner(pollo guisado and rabo guisado). The plaintains were hot and fresh, the meat in both dishes was seasoned to perfection and was falling off the bone, and the rice and beans that came with the entrees were full of flavor. Having spent some time living in Panama, I’ve really missed this type of authentic cuisine. Mi Casa does not disappoint. I keep thinking about it and cannot wait to go back again!

BESTPORK-CHOP I’ve ever had. The spices, the juicy and perfectly fatty chop, the sautéed onions piled on top; I couldn’t eat it fast enough. Yellow rice was also perfect. I especially liked the green olives(in the rice.) And of course, sweet plantains, which tied everything together. I have an enormous appetite, and found their portions very satisfying. Very laid back, neighborhood-Dominican-restaurant feel, and I can’t wait to go back.

I wanted to give this place 5 stars because I like encouraging small businesses. But the steak and onion sandwich I had was flavorless. Maybe I ordered the wrong thing. Their menu is limited. I tried to flavor it with Hot sauce but the hot sauce isn’t hot. Disappointed in a restaurant advertised as Latin cooking with such bland food On the plus side They have a very friendly accommodating staff.

I know my spanish food and have to say the meal I had today at Mi Casa is the real deal. The service was very friendly and helpful and the portions were generous. So happy to have found authentic spanish food in Binghamton.

Not fancy, but excellent! Real home cooking, huge portions, good prices and delicious! Fried plantains and Cuban sandwich with rice and beans is a must try. And the chicken empanadas were fabulous!!! The staff is friendly and family oriented, we had lunch and had leftovers. I highly recommend if you like authentic Latin cuisine!

solid spot… most definitely lived up to the awesome reviews. 5 stars bc: 1. yellow rice and beans were a home run– and they give you so much! 2. two types of plantains– so goooood, never enough 3. not a single piece of meat left on our plates after ordering the stew chicken, pork chops, steak and onion special 4. they deliver! and boy do they ever… so many packages of food passed our table while we were waiting for our grub. eventually i asked the waitress«will there be anything left for us??». luckily there was… 5. sweetest chica working behind the food counter 6. peppermint candies post-meal(in a bowl near the register) 7. map of el caribe on the wall with grenada included(bonus points) only negatives… — they ran out of oxtail before we got there! total bummer but means i’ll have to return on another saturday… — dont expect much for ambience… this place is all about good food def recommend this spot– check it out!

I happened to be driving by when I saw it – To say I was SUPER excited says very little on how I felt! :-) I slowed down just to get a quick peek inside. After calling my husband, I made a quick turn around and went in to look at their menu. For $ 14 I was able to buy two meals for my husband and I. With a side order of sweet plantains and cod fish fritters. We had the yellow rice, beans and I had chicken stew and my husband had the roasted pork. We had leftovers for 2 days. Well worth the $ 14! The owner and the girl taking the orders were very pleasant! I seriously have my fingers and toes crossed that this place makes it. Binghamton is pretty hard on «Spanish» food for some reason. I’d like to see them get the notority they deserve, and in doing so, get a bigger and more accommodating spot. Good Luck, Mi Casa!!! I owe you the address in Middletown for the 5lb. masa de guineos.

This Diamond in the Rough is in the place formerly known as the Flan Club. Where do I begin! My husband and I were excited because there are not many, who am I kidding, there are NO Latino cuisine, REAL Latino Cuisine restaurant in the Tri-County area. My Amazing husband called ahead, explained my allergy and asked if they could accommodate my food allergy needs. I will admit my expectations were super low. Being it is home cooked and knowing the type of seasonings that are used being Latina. I knew I would be limited on many of the items I would want. However, I was PLEASANTLYSURPRISED, when I came in and was greeted warmly by the young Latino waitress/counter associate and she told me «We were waiting you» WHAT! I nearly Happy Peed myself! 5 stars right there! Ok. She sat us down explained everything that was on the menu, advised me of what I could have from her knowledge of what gluten was. I ordered the ensalada de aguacate, avocado salad, a favorite, Bacalao with white rice, which was not the cod it was tilapia because they had been waiting on a shipment, and maduros(sweet plantain.) The waitress was so kind. I could tell this was their first encounter with gluten free customer but they hit it out the park. The waitress checked with me to get a clear idea what was gluten, is it in this or in that. The attention to detail was amazing and made me feel good! This is a family owned and operated, Authentic Latino/a Business, I am assuming Puerto Rican? The people made me feel like I was at a family dinner with my own family. All the workers were family members, friendly and greeted you. They knew their customers and what they liked and how they ordered. On the GF Goddess, scale I give you«6 stars» and I will def be a regular. I work down the road. You guys are going do very well keep doing what you are doing! PS the best part I love PR Cuisine But They Are Not Latino/Island Time Food was out Fast!

They have fried sweet plantains which would be enough to get me in the door once a week on their own. Yellow rice with green olives, good saucey beans. This place is a dream come true for downtown Binghamton cuisine as far as I’m concerned. I’m glad that I tried a few things on the menu before I finally had the fried pork chops. Everything that I have eaten there is good but dat pork chop. man dat pork chop. I just can’t order anything but the pork chop ever again. I just can’t it’s to die for. Oh AND they deliver? Unreal this place it’s the best.
