Mama is in the kitchen cooking. You leave feeling like family. The food is good and you won’t leave hungry. Salsa is homemade and delicious. We ordered the chili verde and it was spot on. We would go back.

We stop here every year, the owner is so friendly and my girls love the fish tank and roller chairs they get to sit in. The food is big portions and he always wraps the left overs into a burrito for later. The food is so flavorful, I definetly recommend this place, such great services the way everywhere should be!!!

The boyfriend and I stopped here for breakfast on our way out of Bishop. The owner was extremely friendly and welcoming. We sat where we wanted, were offered fresh salsa and chips, and our food was fantastic. We were shocked at the portion sizes but super pleased with our choices(Huevos rancheros and California omelette). Our leftovers were wrapped up as burritos(um, awesome?!) for the road. The owner checked on us and chatted with us throughout the meal and made us feel really at home. The décor is a little funky(office chairs as seats?!) but we kinda liked that about the place. The owner also has two pet parrots and an iguana which we enjoyed saying hi to! It’s a small, family run place with great food and lots of hospitality. We will definitely come back the next time we’re in Bishop!

Definitely seen better days. I used to love this place. What a treat — Mexican breakfast in Bishop! Now it feels so run down and ramshackle. Food isn’t well prepared. The room is s mess, with empty tables still piled high with half-eaten food. I certainly will not be going back.

This place is beyond disgusting! Idk how they have a four star rating! My husband had to search for and change the toilet paper AND unclog the toilet for my kids because we certainly weren’t getting service from the staff. The food was mediocre at best. They ran out of Diet Coke and didn’t have cheddar cheese for omelettes, wth? The chairs had questionable stuffing coming out of them, the owner breeds birds in the back(super sanitary!) and the owner is sketchy and vulgar. Ew and gross… Never again. Should’ve went with my gut and waited in the car. A heat stroke would’ve been better.

Oh and ask for his mexican cucumbers. it’s a must try In bishop will stop here every trip from now on.

Best breakfast in Bishop! Been eating in Bishop for Opening Day for 16 years and this is hands down the best breakfast around. This place would do very well in San Diego. Amazing that it’s way out here. Food is excellent. Prices are great. Owner knows all the regulars and calls them by name. This is the place!

First of all, chips and salsa are some of the best I have ever had. How can a chip be rich and light at the same time? The salsa fresca is flavorful and spicy and wonderful. The portions are generous, just like the hosts, kind, funny, and welcoming! It is hard to imagine not stopping here every time I pass through Bishop. Fantastic food, charming space, just what I needed after six hours on the road!

This place is fantastic – some of the best Mexican I’ve had in or near Mammoth. The owner is great, very outgoing and friendly. By the time you leave you’ll know what his 5(6?) kids are up to, and you’ll feel like a part of the family. The salsa was great; very fresh and just the right amount of spicy. They give you both corn and flour tortilla chips, but I much prefer the corn. We had the huevos with chili verde and it was simply wonderful. The sides are what make the meal here, though. The rice is fresh from a tamale, and the beans have a wonderful smoky flavor that we discovered is from slow roasted serrano chilis and roasted pork. The chili verde sauce was really good as well, and the food came out FAST. Like, just a few minutes after ordering. We did order exactly what he recommended though, so that may have something to do with it. No regrets! If you’re shy or introverted, this may not be the place for you. Otherwise, get ready for a great meal and good entertaining conversation.

So I have to give a reason for the 5 stars. I had absolutely the best restaurant oatmeal ever. It was the true old fashioned oats cooked Mexican style by the chef with cinnamon and nutmeg. Ask for blueberries and milk extra. Huge portions so bring a leftover box.

This place is small and has business chairs around the tables– do not let this fool you. This place is so good! They give flour and corn chips and the breakfast is so big so it you can’t finish it– they’ll wrap it up in a burrito to go. So good!

Honestly it’s the worst resteraunt I have been too, the lady running it was very sweet and did a great job but the chicken fried steak taste like dog food I took 1 bite and that was it. Why the high reviews?

This small family owned resturant had no problem making a delicious meal for our party of 10. Served the kids first then us. Great Conversation with some hilarious jokes from the owner. Got to have some tough skin in this place and an even bigger stomach.

This is a *great* place. We went for breakfast based on the reviews. The food and welcome was fantastic. The moment we came in home made chips and salsa were on the table. The food is more Mexican, but honestly the good and authentic type. The owner is very welcoming and funny. We also met the owners wife and daughters — a true family business. We liked it so much we came back the next day — something we rarely do as a family. If you want a great, authentic and plentiful experience, eat at the Petite Pantry

I cannot post enough STARS Jay … you blessed my family with your love. We were family from the moment we opened the door and walked in to your house of food. Your food… the absolute best. Your friendship was amazing. God will forever bless you and your family. Good luck to your girls. Love your favorite white family :) Thank you for the«burritos» you gave the kids. They already have them on … God bless you

Roach infested restaurant. Found 2 roaches on my table and one in my omelette. We were looking for a good place to eat breakfast and let me just say, we left in complete disgust. Please do yourself a favor and do not eat here!

You can easily miss this place by driving fast towards town. Don’t. Once you walk in you are given a super friendly and warm greeting by Jay Jimenez(owner). «Welcome! Please come in. Make yourself comfortable, anywhere you want»! He will call the men in the family ‘viejo’, the women ‘mama’. In some of the reviews that I’ve read, I see that people are put off by a few things– the office chairs that are at every table, and how Jay makes fun of people. The chairs are super comfortable and you can relax in them before and after you eat. Many people that are either on their way to or from Mammoth stop here and have been in the car for a while. He wants you to relax and enjoy your food. He won’t kick you out. His restaurant’s success relies on him making customers feel like family. People will say what they will about him. I will say this– he truly loves his customers. He tells jokes and shares stories about the goings on in town and about the fishing in the area. I highly recommend this restaurant. If you don’t finish what you ordered, he will put it in a burrito for you. His flour tortilla chips are beyond yummy, and there is all you can eat menudo, pozole, and cocido for $ 8.99. You can also eat outside and enjoy the scenery on Hwy. 395. A side note about The Petite Pantry– he is also an accountant, and a tax man/dude. His financial services are also located on the premises. I will keep coming back year after year. Thank you so much for your hospitality, Jay!!! Adam says ‘AYYY!!! Orale’!!!

We went here on the recommendation of a friend. This place was a shocker! Yes so good it is! First off they serve you flour tortilla chips and salsa, Oh my gosh, flour tortilla chips are my favorite. So the name of this place really doesn’t depict the type of food but hey, i read reviews. We came in at around 2pm so the place was empty. My husband saw that they were serving all you can eat Menudo! WOW I even tried it and it was amazing. I had the cheese enchilada that was very good. The owner came out and chatted with us and told us some old stories and some laughs. He’s a character. But the food is amazing. So when passing through the Eastern Sierras don’t miss out on this quaint little place.
